View 4 Replies View RelatedToday while I was running to make it into work and clock in on time my phone fell out my jacket pocket and now the media card isn't recognized by the phone. It's not showing up when I connect my phone to my computer either. Is there anything I can do to try and get it to be recognized again?

I have discovered that when the numbers are stored in the contacts like +1 (xxx) XXX-XXXX the name is not transposed from my contacts. This is the default for my MS Outlook Contacts. If I edit the number to +1xxxxxxxxxx, then the names are shown. Why is this happenieng? Its works either way for incomming voice calls. I dont want to have to change my entire contact list.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster. We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled). We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy). The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a slightly used late model Mac Air Book. I migrated files from my Pro via the Migration Assistant. A notification said the transfer was successful. When I went to use the Air, a pop up sign in window came up asking me for my password. Upon putting it in several hundred times, I had to give up. I could not get into my new Air. Its not recognizing my password which works fine on my Pro. Is there any way I can get past this sign in to reset my password or correct the situation?

I have more than one email account. Periodically one or the other will for no apparent reason refuse to recognize the password or a message will pop up that says the server can't be found. Is there better email software that doesn't do this? It is too time consuming to try finding out what is wrong all the time.

I have just upgraded my 9700 to .593 and everything works fine except for locking the phone keyboard.
Previously when I click on the top button of the mobile my phone goes into "Password mode" locking which means you can't unlock the device unless you enter the password. But after the update, clicking the button will only lock the keyboard and anyone can unlock it by clicking the same button.
my blackberry bold 9700 appearing app error 523. I followed suggestions from forum for soft reset and hard reset, but i have another problem, it is asking for password whenever i click the update but the password is already lost and cannot remember entering one since i bought the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen setting a password, for the "Number of Password Attempts" (set to 10), can somebody absolutely confirm if it is 10 consecutive logins, or if it 10 total?
I'm assuming once you login correctly once that the number if incorrect attempts resets to 0, but I've seen statements in various articles that state or at least hint otherwise.
i already have my 9700 password protected and everytimes i plug my 9700 it will ask me for my password. but my question is, if i remove my sd card and plug it into my pc, it doesn't prompt me for any password. wtf? where is the security, rim? i though one of ur selling point was blackberry is a secure device?

With my old 9000 I was able to make a password, lock my phone, and then upon unlocking it it would ask for my password. With my new one I just need to press the unlock button... what's the point of the password then? Can I make it ask for my password when I unlock it?? And how?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just updated to the new OS platform 5.1.0.146, I don't know why really they have made this inconvenient option, the lock key, only locks the keyboard without Password Locking the device, more over it locks the device and dim the screen directly, which wasn't the same in older OS.Really RIM has screwed the functionality of this lock button big time.As a solution I have changed the function for the right button to Password Lock instead of voice dialing. But I really can't see any reason why RIM did that
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Bold 9700. My phone was in my purse on my body and when I got it out, I was at 7/9 password attempts. While entering my password, it was in plain text vs. the asteriks. I'm now at my last attempt and was prompted that I will lose everything on my phone if I have another failed attempt. I don't know what to do next to save this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a Bold 9700 about a month ago and everything was fine un til I had to call T-Mobile to get an exchange about a week ago. I got my new Blackberry 9700 but the only problem is, when I set my password and enable it, the phone doesn't prompt me to enter the password whenever I unlock the phone. It only asks if I go to settings>password lock or when I reboot the phone. I'm new here, and I apologize if this has been posted before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI read about the Alt+Enter to lock the phone and have the password instantly activate. But is there ANY way to have the Lock button on top of the 9700 to lock it and password protect it instantly? I know that with my 8900, the standby button does it instantly but there is no standby on the 9700.It just doesn't make sense to me why locking it from the home screen and the alt+enter would password protect it right away, but the lock button at the corner makes you wait.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.
Does anyone know why I get this email once or twice every morning? Then I go and validate it and sometimes its takes a few tries (even though I input the same information everytime)

I have a Blackberry 9700 phone which has been working fine up until today when I decided to load the "Blackberry User Tools" software onto my P.C. at home. After successful installation and machine restart, I was asked to enter my "Device Password". Assuming this would be my password I set originally to lock my phone I entered it and found this didn't work. I subsequently attempted a number of other logical permutations but then realised that if I continued I would lock my phone. So I stopped (at 8/10 tries) and called my service provider "Orange UK" who advised they couldn't help me and that if I continued to enter the incorrect code, it would wipe my phone as it would automatically reset! When I connected via USB last time, it asked for me to enter the word "blackberry" which I did but when it then asked me to enter my password (which I assumed was the four digit numerical code I had originally set the phone with) it failed to work. I am now left with two further attempts. Please can anyone assist by advising me what I can do to overcome the problem without wiping my phone as the contents are very important to me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Microsoft outlook email account at work and we have to change our password every two months or so. View 8 Replies View RelatedRegarding a problem with password on my 9700 Bold:
I have had a four digit Phone Lock on it for months, always the same, was operating the phone the same as usual one night, and the next morning, it wouldn't accept the Lock Code.
Entered the Password 7/8 times, then thought I had no choice but to let it reset itself, entered in the same Code, and it accepted it.
I didn't want to go through that again, so I went to Password Settings to remove the Password requirement, and it started all over again, not accepting the Same Password with which I had just unlocked the phone!
Fortunately, I have Backed up my phone in case it did get Wiped, but I would have lost some info that had been entered in between Backups, so I hoped I could get this resolved With Out the phone needing a Factory Reset.
The 9700 asked me to enter "blackberry", and I noticed that there was a tendency for the letters to jump to Upper Case quicker than I was accustomed to seeing it do.
As I have been writing this, I remembered that I had changed the Cursor Speed to Fast, so now I'm going to type in the password as quickly as I can, so I can be as certain as possible that it goes in as 'lower case' only, which, because of the characters being immediately changed to ****, I could not detect before.
Problem Solved!
I just breathed a Huge sigh of relief.
The phone has now been set back to the Original Cursor Rate, and the Phone Lock has been removed.
Security is important in case the phone is misplaced, so I set the SIM Card Lock instead, and at least if the Password gets messed up again, I can get a PUK Code from at&t, and unlock the phone that way, without the risk of wiping out all my contact information, calendar dates, and other personal settings.
I hope this information might be helpful to someone else, and I'm looking forward to learning more on this site.

I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.Is this something that i can change or do i have to do a restore??
