BB Bold 9700 :: Password Locking With .593
May 12, 2010I have just upgraded my 9700 to .593 and everything works fine except for locking the phone keyboard.
Previously when I click on the top button of the mobile my phone goes into "Password mode" locking which means you can't unlock the device unless you enter the password. But after the update, clicking the button will only lock the keyboard and anyone can unlock it by clicking the same button.

Apr 30, 2010I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.Is this something that i can change or do i have to do a restore??

May 20, 2010I tried searching but couldnt really find what I was looking for. Is there anyway to password protect your S2 only upon locking it? So in other words everytime I manually lock my phone, when I go to unlock it I would have to type in a password. I'm not really feeling the the whole password protect after 1,2,5,10,15,20,30, 1hour. I only want it to password protect when I lock the phone.

BB Bold 9700 :: Device Not Locking On 3G But Storm 2 Did
Jun 9, 2010I was travelling with a friend who is using Storm 2. We were comparing our devices and founf that at certain area the Storm 2 signal is on 3G with the bb logo but my Bold 9700 signal shows EDGE. But when I change the option at Mobile Network to 3G only, my Bold 9700 is able to lock the signal to 3G, however when I change back Mobile Network to 3G & 2G it goes back o EDGE (not immediately though).
I am currently running OS .680.... Is there a fix to the problem above or it is a known Bold 9700 issue or a known .680 issue. I have not try this with previous OS so not sure if it will acted differently.Any opinion. Am considering downgrading the OS but will wait for feedback first.
BB Bold :: 9700 Keeps Locking Up And Uncaught Error?
Dec 7, 2011my BB Bold 9700 running OS 6 bundle 1879. So what has been happening happening over the past month or so is the device starts to lock up and not respond for up to 40 sec then corrects itself. Other times I will get an uncaught error or exception error. I have to keep pulling the battery out and resetting the device about 3 times a day at least.

May 21, 2010Is there a way of Passwording or locking access to the contents of the SD card as i transport things from work on it and do not want it viewed by unauthorised people if it got in to the wrong hands (before anyone says anything no its not dirty pictures lol ). If i could lock the memory card it would make it that bit more secure.

Jun 10, 2010I had to do a software update (obviously) because most of the features on my phone were not working, including the proximity sensor. Since updating it yesterday (9.6.10) I have had even more trouble. I can no longer set a password for when locking my phone. This is hugely inconvenient as security is one of the most important features for me. The only time it prompts a password is when the phone switches on. Also, when locking the phone, whatever was displayed before locking remains displayed, it just disables the ability to edit. Thus defeating the object.
When I locked my phone I liked the fact that whatever I was doing was hidden, and a password was necessary to access it! Finally, the proximity sensor to my holster is still malfunctioning. It activates when the phone is 3/4 of the way in, but the screen is then switched back on, along with full keyboard function when it is fully in the case. Thus also removing the ability to "lock upon holstering". I'm not happy with this software update and please tell me there is a fix for it, because I'm ready to throw this thing away. BB Bold 9700 :: Does Not Accept Password - Activate Security Password?
Mar 4, 2010Blackberry 9700 The device has problem if you activate the security password, the devices does not accept the password until 5 or 6 attempts and then prompts you to type blackberry to continue. Please note format and reinstall is not an option since the restored data does not work. Awaiting a quick solution.

Aug 9, 2010I am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster.We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled).We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy).The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.

Sep 5, 2010When setting a password, for the "Number of Password Attempts" (set to 10), can somebody absolutely confirm if it is 10 consecutive logins, or if it 10 total?
I'm assuming once you login correctly once that the number if incorrect attempts resets to 0, but I've seen statements in various articles that state or at least hint otherwise.

Feb 19, 2010I have just updated to the new OS platform 5.1.0.146, I don't know why really they have made this inconvenient option, the lock key, only locks the keyboard without Password Locking the device, more over it locks the device and dim the screen directly, which wasn't the same in older OS.Really RIM has screwed the functionality of this lock button big time.As a solution I have changed the function for the right button to Password Lock instead of voice dialing. But is there ANY way to have the Lock button on top of the 9700 to lock it and password protect it instantly? I know that with my 8900, the standby button does it instantly but there is no standby on the 9700.It just doesn't make sense to me why locking it from the home screen and the alt+enter would password protect it right away, but the lock button at the corner makes you wait.

Mar 30, 2010I'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.

May 1, 2010I have a Blackberry 9700 phone which has been working fine up until today when I decided to load the "Blackberry User Tools" software onto my P.C. at home. After successful installation and machine restart, I was asked to enter my "Device Password". Assuming this would be my password I set originally to lock my phone I entered it and found this didn't work. I subsequently attempted a number of other logical permutations but then realised that if I continued I would lock my phone. So I stopped (at 8/10 tries) and called my service provider "Orange UK" who advised they couldn't help me and that if I continued to enter the incorrect code, it would wipe my phone as it would automatically reset!When I connected via USB last time, it asked for me to enter the word "blackberry" which I did but when it then asked me to enter my password (which I assumed was the four digit numerical code I had originally set the phone with) it failed to work. I am now left with two further attempts. Please can anyone assist by advising me what I can do to overcome the problem without wiping my phone as the contents are very important to me.
