I recently got my bb curve 8520 but I have noticed that it would reboot randomly without me having to do a battery pull or the alt-shift-delete method. It has reboot twice randomly I am I am very confused as to why it does that and when I rebooted it it started up normal but when I checked it again it rebooted on its own.
View 9 RepliesI've got a curve 8520 and earlier today it was playing up and so I decided to re-boot it by taking the battery out. It seemed normal and I'd left it for a while but when I came back to it, the re-boot hadn't gone past about 2/3 of the way. I've tried several different things, plugging it into the computer, and the wall, and also taken the battery out several more times and each time it still doesn't go past 2/3.

I can get it to download but it wont run. I know there has to be some quick way to do it. I have an otterbox defender case on it and its a pain to take it off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor about the past two-three weeks, my Curve 8530 has started randomly rebooting - during calls, not during calls - I have not identified a pattern about when. When it comes back up 5-10 minutes later, the battery was always completely drained. I ordered a new battery and fully charged it. Day one with the new battery was uneventful - no random reboots, no loss of all battery charge after one 15 minute phone call, although the battery was low by the end of the day.
Today is day two with the new battery and I had another random reboot, however, this time at least my battery wasn't drained when it came back up. What causes these random reboots? Is there any way to get them to stop?
I am with Verizon and already did the *228 programming update before the new battery.
My blackberry curve does not turn on after i took out the battery, when i connect it to my computer via USB the red lights blinks one time then three time and it continues like this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI grabbed my Motorola Defy used about 6 months ago with absolutely nothing wrong with it.I work at a garage, I'm constantly coated in grease.About a month ago the ear speaker stopped working, now calls can only be heard through headphones or speaker phone.
About 2 weeks ago, close to every time I put my Defy in my pocket, it shuts down. Unlock button becomes unresponsive, doesn't power back on until I pull the battery out and put it back in. It seems to do this whenever pressure is applied across the screen while locked.
The new email indicator on my Blackberry Tour will not go away. I have no unread messages or missed calls. I've tried a battery pull, a reboot, marking prior messages read, and changing the message count settings. It won't go away.

My problem is that when I did a bettery pull a couple of days ago, my 9700 went into constant reboot. I was able to correct this by connecting to DM and reloading the OS (.714). This was the same OS I was previously using. Now, when I do a BP, the progress bar goes all the way to the end and it just freezes. I have to pull the battery again, and reload the same 714 OS from DM. No help from TMO online help, so I thought I would ask here.
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo all of the sudden my SMS messages are just coming up as phone numbers instead of contacts names, when yesterday they were displaying the names. I check to make the sure the numbers match under the contacts and they still do. I tried doing a battery pull and when the phone rebooted all of my contacts had disappeared. I checked the filters and none of them are checked, and as the other threads for this topic state, I tried to disable content control but I cant. I cant even find the general options section under security options. Is it different on the storm then it is on other BB's? Really confused right now. Also, there are no contacts saved to the SIM card.

My phone has been getting worse and worse by the day. First the i had horrible battery life when i was on phone calls, it would only last 30 min tops with a full battery. Then i was listening to the sirius radio app for about 15 min and my storm had a random reset. At first i said oh no problem it will be back up soon. So i waited and waited and when it finaly came back up i had a dead battery with 2% left. I was like wtf happened. I had about 80% when it reset and it came back with 2%. So then i did a battery pull to see if the phone just had a little problem with booting up. When it came back it had 22% battery but it only lasted about a min before it decided to reboot again. This time it wouldnt come back on. It was an endless reboot going again and again. The only way to stop it was to plug it in the wall and charge it up again. Last night it did the same thing when i was on the internet for only 5 min.
I tried all the different hybrids and nothing works. I dont know what to do now. Is it the battery or is it the phone?
How to stop alt + riight shift + Delete reset or disable it i desperately need it in oder to diagnose a problem with frequent rebooting

Overall, I am very impressed with the phone, however my wife's is randomly rebooting, and will not turn back on without disconnecting the battery or plugging back into the wall. I have seen a few reports of this online and was just wondering if there is a fix or if I should take it in for a trade? Kind of worried if mine will start doing this also. No SD card installed, no taskmanager, not rooted, etc

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy battrery has been running low quickly . For instance, I charged it yesterday and when it was done charging I made a phone call. I was on the phone for about 11/2 minutes. After I got off I looked at my battery and it was down 1/2 a brick. I've tried removing the battery for awhile, but it doesn't seem to help. I talk on it a lot through the day so I can understand it needing charged at night, but 1 minute off the charger and it's already losing power? I don't use the internet that much, but I do play games. The phone is about a month old. Any advice?

When the phone came back on, it connected just fine, but all of my saved media (pictures, music, videos) was gone. The media was all saved on the device and we use a BES at my office. Any chance of recovering the lost media? Phone seems to be working just fine--just don't have any pictures or videos left.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to connect my device GPS and Google maps for months now but to no avail. I get either GPS is Temporarily unavailable or it says Waiting on GPS.... I've been outside, in the middle of a soccer field still nothing.
The GPS is obviously working because I have geotagging for some of my apps set to use GPS rather the cell tower.
My particulars....8900, with .610, Google Map v4.02 and yes I have done battery pulls. Im in Barbados on Digicel network, I called and asked if they blocked GPS, "Whats GPS"
I have two different hotmail account synced with my Blackberry. One of my hotmail accounts is receiving emails just fine to my blackberry. The other is not receiving any! I have tried sending serivice books and a battery pull. What else am I missing? Yesterday they both worked fine and now today only one works.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new(well, was display model) 8310 & just got a 2gig data card for my new phone & loaded some songs & pictures onto it(nowhere near half filling the card). When I went to unplug it, it was frozen on the home screen!Tried a battery pull, to no avail. It booted up & was frozen again.
Came back to it bout 40 mins later & it had "Do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode? You might not be able to access some media files in this mode." The trackball worked & I chose "No".Phone appeared to work, chose a ringtone I'd just loaded, no worries. Then went into my pictures... It only showed a few of my photos in thumbnails and froze again! When after another age, it decided to work again, all my pictures (about 30 but reduced to under 200kb before loading) were visible in thumbnails, but most of them were not in proper colour - only in red & green!
Next thing I tried was plugging it back into the computer, deleting & reloading the pics. I also chose 'convert for optimum playback' this time and when loaded & the phone asked about 'Mass Storage Mode' I chose 'yes'.So now it keeps freezing still, for shorter times without apparent reason, as if I've overloaded it(??) and most pics have appeared correctly, but some are still in green/red only.
My phone is suffering from the infamous white screen of death about once a day now. The only response I can then get from it is if I do a battery pull. When I return the battery the phone starts to reboot but never finishes and just turns off and is unresponsive to any buttons. The only way I have found to remedy this is by charging the phone. It then turns on as normal. I will make a point of noting that my phone is never out of battery when this happens. When I go to charge it, it starts off at whatever percentage of full it was previously on.

We went into Options -> Media Options, and everything is set up properly. We even tried changing options here and changing them back. We called VZW blackberry support - they were stumped. we tried KB19717-The BlackBerry smartphone is not detected as a USB Mass Storage Device when connected to a computerand the Microsoft hotfix it references - no luck. (of course, they're all for 8520)the VZW support guy had her "hard reset" her unit (whatever that means).We reformatted the card. no luck.
We tried a battery pull (several - would have to in order to swap memory cards). didn't matterWe uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop Manager 4.7 -059Putting the card into her old (screen-damaged-but-functional-unit) everything works fine. We tried a different card in her unit. No luck.We tried her unit on a different PC (different USB cable too) no luck.The device shows up in Device Manager, and Desktop Manager (and evil Roxio Media manager) all work fine. Can explore the card fine from the device, and the status in options -> media card says it's thereBut it will NOT show up as a mass storage device
Because of what does work, it doesn't feel like a HW issue - maybe a driver issue?

View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night my phone froze. I took the battery out and reset it. I put the batter back in. It turns back on and does the security verifying and then shows the main screen. The issue is that i try to scroll through the applications and it does not respond. I cannot dial numbers or anything. It just stay on the main screen. When I pulled the batter I notice that there is a red line on the white part near the pickups on the battery.
View 5 Replies View RelatedPhone needed a battery pull last night as it froze in the middle of sending a picture message. This happens a LOT I'm afraid. Typically, it boots right up, loads the software, my screen comes up, my icons come back and I'm in business. I am stuck in a boot loop it seems. The BB logo comes up, the bar loads about 2/3 of the way, then the red light comes on and it shuts off. Phone starts back up and does the same thing over and over and over. It also won't turn off (unless I just pull the batter out, but when replaced, the same thing keeps happening). I can't load the OS again through the BB Desktop Manager because the process is halted each time the phone turns itself off again.
