BB Curve :: 8530 Random Reboot/Battery Drain

Feb 8, 2011

For about the past two-three weeks, my Curve 8530 has started randomly rebooting - during calls, not during calls - I have not identified a pattern about when. When it comes back up 5-10 minutes later, the battery was always completely drained. I ordered a new battery and fully charged it. Day one with the new battery was uneventful - no random reboots, no loss of all battery charge after one 15 minute phone call, although the battery was low by the end of the day.

Today is day two with the new battery and I had another random reboot, however, this time at least my battery wasn't drained when it came back up. What causes these random reboots? Is there any way to get them to stop?

I am with Verizon and already did the *228 programming update before the new battery.

BB Curve 8500 :: How To Reboot 8530 Without Pulling Battery?

Feb 14, 2010

I've tried things on the internet, but no success.I've installed an app and remove from BB which doesn't remove icon. Some say the BB has to be Rebooted to clean up left over things. I find this unusual that a normal user wouldn't know how to uninstall apps properly especially having to reboot.I want to be able to restart (reboot) my BB without pulling the battery.

IPhone 5 :: IOS 7.1 / Battery Drain Random Shut Down

Jul 1, 2014

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1. Today I left the house at 8:30 am with 100% battery. I had a breakfast meeting and put my phone on the table while we ate and did not use it. By 10:00 my battery was down to 3%. On other occasions, the phone shuts itself down while there's still 30% power, and I have to plug the phone into a charger to get it to restart. When it restarts, it shows >30% battery. I've been struggling with both issues for months (as have numerous friends with iPhone 4, 5 and 5s). I do not believe it is a hardware issue, but rather, an issue with iOS 7, which is when the problems began for me. My old iPhone 4 running iOS 6 would go an entire day of heavy use on a single charge (and usually had juice to spare). There is a serious power management problem with iOS 7 and I'm deeply disappointed that Apple hasn't addressed it.

You can conserve battery life by switching off cellular data, closing apps every time you finish using them, and other tricks mentioned by users here, but then the phone doesn't function as advertised and is no longer a smart phone. It is unreliable and essentially useless as a business device. iPhone is advertised has having 10 hours talk time and 10 hours cellular data. It doesn't even come close. I encourage everyone to contact Apple directly to address this problem. Something tells me Steve Jobs never would have let this happen.

BB Storm 9500 :: Random Crashes And Battery Drain Upon Boot Up

Jan 25, 2010

A few days ago I was running the VZW official .713 OS. Then, I think I installed the latest BBM. After about 12 hours of that, I started experiencing random crashes triggered by actions (not particular actions). I add a contact, it crashes. I boot back up and add again, it doesn't crash - something like that with various other actions like me locking the phone using the left lock button, or snapping a picture, etc.I didn't attribute this to BBM and so figured to hell with the official OS and installed a hybrid (Yes, I'm aware that it's not a supported OS bla bla, but it started with the official .713 so there is merit to this). And upgraded to the new BBM. Installed apps, etc. Battery was draining by 2-5% every 30-45 minutes. Crashes were happening and I wouldn't know till I had to use the phone again, at which point it starts the boot process.I uninstalled the latest BBM and downgraded to the previous stable 5.0.0.66 and it is still going on.

I'm running out of options here.I checked the event log for the time it crashed and encountered only one fatal error:Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what else to do except for installing the old BBM and no other applications. In which case, no point of the phone. I've been using the phone for the past 2 months with no problems..If someone wants me to email this to someone at RIM, that's fine too as I don't know how else to go to them.

Motorola Droid Turbo :: Random Battery Drain Due To Phone And Dialer Apps

Aug 4, 2015

Every once in a while (has happened 2 times in as many weeks) the phone or dialer APP will suck battery and throw off my typical discharge time WITHOUT me ever placing a call (let alone opening the phone interface). For example, as shown in the attached, I'm down almost 70% on just 19 hours and change of use, with just 2.5 hours of screen on time, with the phone app draining 7% without any phone usage. Typically, I can make it 24+ hours with 4+ hours of screen time on that level of battery drain.

Aside from those instances, battery has been great on L. Used to get, typically, about 26 hours before charging at 25%. Now, I consistently get 29+ hours on the same usage.

BB Storm 9530/9500 :: Battery Dead After Random Reboot?

May 12, 2010

My phone has been getting worse and worse by the day. First the i had horrible battery life when i was on phone calls, it would only last 30 min tops with a full battery. Then i was listening to the sirius radio app for about 15 min and my storm had a random reset. At first i said oh no problem it will be back up soon. So i waited and waited and when it finaly came back up i had a dead battery with 2% left. I was like wtf happened. I had about 80% when it reset and it came back with 2%. So then i did a battery pull to see if the phone just had a little problem with booting up. When it came back it had 22% battery but it only lasted about a min before it decided to reboot again. This time it wouldnt come back on. It was an endless reboot going again and again. The only way to stop it was to plug it in the wall and charge it up again. Last night it did the same thing when i was on the internet for only 5 min.

I tried all the different hybrids and nothing works. I dont know what to do now. Is it the battery or is it the phone?

BB Curve :: 8530 Won't Reboot?

Oct 14, 2012

Last night, my blackberry was freezing up, so I took the battery out to reboot it. I fell asleep with it rebooting on the charger, but when I woke up around eight hours later it still wasn't finished rebooting. The white line was only about 3/4 of the way full and it wasn't moving, so I took the battery out to reboot it again. It was going fine until it reached that spot again, and stopped about 3/4 of the way full. I took the battery out for an extended period of time and tried again, but the same thing happened

BB Curve 8520/8530 :: 8530 / How Long Battery Life Is?

Sep 7, 2010

Quick question: How long is the battery on the curve suppose to last @ moderate use (ie. BBM, some web, few apps running).I unplug my phone around 7am in the morning and by roughly 3:30-4pm the battery has almost died. Now during that time all I'm doing is sending BBM messages (no pictures), minimal SMS messages and the only app I have running is 'Weather Bug'. Is this normal for the curve battery to die so quickly? I've read about other users saying that they can easily get a days worth of use out of their battery and they still have sufficient enough charge.

BB Curve 8520/8530 :: 8530 Battery Life Is Too Short?

Apr 4, 2010

Just got my Curve 2 last Thursday, and was liking it, but now I am having some issues with it... wondering if you guys can help me.

1: The battery life it bad! I took it off the charger today at about 9:00, and have used some texting, about 20 minutes of Pandora, and a little bit of internet browsing, and now my battery is at 75%... I like in a coverage area with 5 bars (more on next one), and I am not using wifi very much, with screen at 10%, 10 seconds off, and auto dim, so I don't know what it is...
2: As above, I have 5 bars in my house, but when I hold the phone it will go down to two or one, sometimes zero, switch to no service, and not get good signal until I set it down and leave it there for a couple seconds. Very annoying, because it makes it hard to load web pages sometimes. I would use wifi but it is slower and less reliable than Sprint's network for some reason. If someone could help me with these problems, or at least suggest some things, that would be great!

BB Curve 8520/8530 :: 8530 Bad Battery Life

Jul 14, 2010

I just got my Blackberry Curve 8530 about a week or so ago. I love it, but there is one problem - the battery life has diminished completely.I charge it overnight so that it's ready in the morning. So, here's a timeline to gauge it's life: I woke up at 6:30, unhooked it from an overnight charge.I got to work at 7, it was still almost full.

Now it's 10:15AM and it's at 3/5 battery life. However, I've done almost NOTHING with it. I checked two e-mails, and the battery life was low prior to that.Is there anything I can/should do to conserve battery life? My Envy II had better battery life than this.

When I took my BlackBerry Curve 2 (8530) off the charger and turned it on this morning, for some reason it reset at the 51% mark during the security software verification. I'm worried that it somehow contracted a virus, or the phone's security software has been compromised. The phone is under 3 months old and should be covered by the manufacturer's warranty - but until I get this fixed, I have no phone to use.

Wi-fi has been disabled already as have Bluetooth. LAt, connection the mobile network is fine so I do not believe it has to do with the device desperately seeking connection.PS: I am based in France with SFR being my provider.

Background: bought a new phone and received it Friday, activated it no problem. Tried using the BDM to "switch devices" and it was LOADS of problems installed the newest one. THOUGHT I finally was able to transfer all the info to my new phone, but here's where the real problem starts Okay, when it starts to reboot, that progress bar fills ALLLL the way up, sits there for like 2 minutes, and then restarts AGAIN with the little red light, the progress bar fills ALLLL the way up, sits there for like 2 minutes, and then restarts YET AGAIN and it's been doing this for the last 10 hours! I have removed the battery and media card and EVERYTHING, left it out for like 10 minutes, reinserted the media card and battery and it just keeps doing this. If I try to connect it to the computer, the computer won't recognize it and the BDM says, "Blackberry Desktop Manager cannot communicate with the connected blackberry device. If the device is rebooting or has a dead battery, click Retry to attempt to reconnect once the device reboots. Otherwise you might need to update the blackberrry device software to correct the problem"How in the world am i supposed to update the software on the device if i can't stop it from rebooting?
