BB Curve 8300 :: Cant Upload Maps / Work GPS?
Jun 11, 2010Have a new 8310. OS is v4.5.0.37 Platform 2.7.0.55I'm in Australia, currently with Telstra but in the process of changing. Unfortunately I can't remember where I found the info, but somewhere on my phone it lists 'maps' & poss. program number or such - not in options or apps. It doesn't let me open it tho.When I go to the website & try to download maps, it tells me it's downloaded successfully, but my computer makes noises as if the USB is being disconnected/reconnected and the phone spends ages with a blank screen & hourglass before going to home screen, then there don't appear to be maps anywhere on it? I don't know how to get the GPS working - do I need maps to make it work?All I seem to be able to do is click 'refresh' in the menu & it comes up as 'scanning for satellites but does nothing else.GPS section says; GPS data source: Device GPS GPS Services: Location ON GPS Location: blank All co-ordinates, nuber of satellites, etc say 0 Location aiding: enabled.

Mar 8, 2010I am wondering if there is a way to copy games from one blackberry phone to another. Both my husband and I got new bb - his is 8320 and mine is 8310. When everything was transfered from our old bb i lost all of the games that were on mine but all of his transfered. Is there a way for me to copy the games using either the desktop manager or Bluetooth? Or is there another way as I am having alot of difficulties downloading new games to transfer from the desktop manager to my phone?

Aug 10, 2010Is there any way to prevent my phone (Curve 8310 running OS v4.5) from going into standby mode when it is snapped into a magnetic holster? The BoxWave holster I just bought has a magnet - I can insert the phone either face-in or face-out. But I would like to keep the phone from going into standby mode when inserted face-out so I can simply use the phone while it is in the holster (without having to remove it first). As it is, I can't even answer the phone without taking it out of the holster.

Aug 1, 2010People can call me and it also vibrates and stuff when i receive messages but the only thing i can do is use the voice activation button on the side nothing else works and the screen stays blank. I've been trying to turn it off and on using the power button and even tried removing the battery but nothing seems to be working. Anyone have any ideas on if and how this problem can be fixed?

Jan 2, 2010I recently noticed a new icon on my phone that only shows up when making calls. It shows up in the top right hand corner of the screen and looks like the service signal bar graph only reversed w/ the larger bars on the left and getting smaller moving right. They also have a white plus sign at the top of each blue bar, background is a black box. Anybody have any idea what this is for and why it only recently came about?

Feb 23, 2010I got a BB 8310 from my girlfriend. While tryin to update to simply sync my music to the phone, i decided to update the phone's software which has turned into a disaster! While updating, during the screen where it says "DO NOT UNPLUG", the faulty USB cable came out leaving the phone unfinished. Now all the phone does is blink with a red light. It does NOT come on at all. The screen remains black. When its plugged in to the computer now, it doesn't read its a BlackBerry. It says "USB device not recognized".
Now I know that during the installation the phone's system files where probably deleted. And not replaced. So what now? Is there something I can do to have the phone recognized by my computer? It was backed-up before the new installations took place, but does not help because the computer is not recognizing the phone. HELP PLEASE! I would hate to lose my new BlackBerry before I actually get to enjoy it.
BB Curve 8300 :: Email Arriving In Outlook Not On Phone?
Aug 5, 2010Every so often, I check Outlook and notice e-mails that were never received on my Blackberry.Here's what I know:
1) the problem only rarely occurs, so I can't recreate it for others to see
3) a user can send me dozens of e-mails without a problem, then inexplicably one will go missing (so it isn't a single user issue)
4) carrier is Verizon they claim it is Yahoo's issue, because no other e-mails are effected (I use Yahoo Small Business e-mail)
5) Yahoo claims it is not their issue since e-mails are being received in Outlook
6) Outlook is configured to leave all of my messages on the server (it is a pop3 account if that matters)
7) The e-mails are not being received into Spam or any other folder
Here's what I've done (in no particular order):
1) hard reset
2) resent service books
3) added and deleted my e-mail account
4) checked all of my settings
5) re-registered with Verizon
6) threw a tantrum
7) screamed wildly at my co-workers for no reason
8) drank a few beers
9) broke up with my girlfriend
10) took a nap
BB Curve 8300 :: No Phone Service - No Text - No Internet
Jun 5, 2010I was having trouble accessing most websites (although I could get email via the university system where I work), so I tried the wireless upgrade/update that was suggested. After I did that, I lost everything - phone, text, and Internet. My calendar is wiped out, as is my contacts. When I try to "turn on" mobile services, it does not turn on. Verizon is not even listed as my service provider. It is as if it cannot find a service provider and therefore, will not make a connection.

May 17, 2010I have a blackberry curve, and i want it to preform a little bit better, I have like next to nothing on my phone except for the programs I use( facebook, bbm, live, app world) I have a memory cleaner, no languages, no messages or emails more then a day old because I delete them after I read them, anyways even after all of this it still is pretty darn slow, Blackberry app world currently says that I have 7.4 MB free, this is still not enough room for me, I was wondering if there is anything else (delete programs that came with the phone)?

Jan 29, 2010Previous to recent update, I could delete messages either on just the 8330 or I could delete the message from both the 8330 and the primary e-mail box from which it transferred. Now after the update, I can only delete from the 8330. Is there a way to get this feature back?

Aug 11, 2010I have a Curve 8330 on the Sprint network. About a day and a half ago I stopped receiving my emails on my phone. I can't send email either. SMS, MMS, Blackberry messenger all work fine. My email account works fine if I log in through the browser. My wife has the same phone and also has a hotmail email account and hasn't had any problems.Any ideas on how to fix this?

Feb 10, 2010I just bought a Curve 8330. Had it for about a week, maybe less. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago when the sounds stopped working. Ring tones, incoming text message beeps, etc. just stop working.When I go into the sounds options to preview ringtones, etc. and click play, the play button goes from play, to stop, immediately, regardless of how long the tune is supposed to be.The only thing I've found to fix it, is to pull the battery.

Feb 7, 2010I don't have a BES account but trying to think of a way to have BB sent mails show up in my Outlook Sent box. Could one setup an address as say, BBsentmail@****. com, send a BCC's to that address from the BB and set up an Outlook rule to direct all emails containing BBsent@****.com to the Sent folder? What if something is sent from Outlook? I guess one could send a BCC to himself but it would end up in the Blackberry's Inbox and not sent box. Can rules/filters be applied in Blackberry's email client (I haven't set mine up yet)?
On a similar note, if the Blackberry server pushes the email to my blackberry before Outlook has a chanse to receive it, will Outlook still download it? Does BB leave a copy on the server? Also, I still have a ton of emails on my server because Outlook is already set to leave a copy on the server. If I don't delete these, BB will download all of them, correct?

Feb 13, 2010Last night my phone froze. I took the battery out and reset it. I put the batter back in. It turns back on and does the security verifying and then shows the main screen. The issue is that i try to scroll through the applications and it does not respond. I cannot dial numbers or anything. It just stay on the main screen. When I pulled the batter I notice that there is a red line on the white part near the pickups on the battery.

Aug 19, 2010I am no longer getting sound from the phone - the ringer does not work and I can't play music.I have tried taking out the battery and it still does not work.The last sound I heard was the alert for a text message and it does not do that anymore.
