BB Bold 9700 :: Can't Connect To Home WiFi System / Failed To Obtain IP Address
Feb 1, 2010Like many of you , I'm having WiFi connection problems with my new BB9700.When I am out of the house, I can see my BB finding local WiFI hotspots and I can connect to them immediately.However, when I get home, my BB doesn't connect to my WiFi, returning the following error message:
Unable to Connect
Reason: Failed to obtain an IP address
I have downloaded the latest BB software (now running version 5.0.0.351), cold booted everything in sight (router, phone, coffee table and the cat) but still get the same error. My foot hurts, the cat isn't talking to me and I still cannot connect at home ! Of course my Carrier's connection works perfectly as does their outrageous fee structure... (They are 3G, or Hutchinson Telecom by another name.)My WiFi service provider (PCCW / Netvigator Hong Kong) has checked the setup of my system and reports that everything is working correctly. I can connect my PS3, my laptop, my Nokia E71 without any problem and the hotline guy can see when I connect each of them to the system.I have tried different combinations of switching the usual options on and off on the BB but still can't get a connection.

I have asked fido to block data service so I dont incurr any costs.I am trying to browse the internet using WIFI. I do have the browser on HOTSPOT MODE. Jul 21, 2010Just wondering if your bold drops calls as frequently as mine does. it seems that sometimes the phone decides to act up and gives me a 'call failed' message whenever i try to make a phone call. I always check how many bars i have and its usually at 4 or 5. sometimes a battery pull fixes this, but other times, the problem is persistent. my old bold 9000 had the same problem, so i'm not sure if it's at&t or blackberries in general.

Oct 27, 2011I purchased a genuine Nokia 5610 XpressMusic slide phone quite a few months ago during a trip to China. The phone worked (and is still working) perfectly well. However, several weeks back I took out the phone battery and when I replaced it all of my contacts (JUST contacts) saved in the PHONE MEMORY were missing/deleted. I was only left with what remained on my SIM card. I went to Menu>settings >security >security level >memory to try fix it, then discovered that the PHONE MEMORY was now locked and its contents protected by a security code. I certainly did NOT set any security code on my phone (I only use a PIN code to access my phone - it works fine) and now, although my phone is fully functional, I can no longer save any more contacts to my phone (because the SIM card is full and the phone memory is blocked).I've used security code generators and also the typical 1234, 12345, 0000, 4444, etc - but NONE of them work.

Even I add or remove email in BIS account serveral time and register for host routng table and clear service book. I've never been able to obtain email service in my service book. Email I add in BIS are @three.blackberry.com and @gmail.com but both of them not work.
I call 3 Customer Care for many time already but they fail to resolve problem. They told me that they already correct service book for me. They told me that the device I have might have a problem asking me to send to service center to check. In my opinion, I didn't make sense to me. Why other service book are working fine except email serivice? Why I cannot obtain only email service? Pin messange, Messenger and Browsing are working OK.

May 20, 2012I have an AirPort extreme and two AirPort expresses. I have never had any issues. Now, my iPhone 4 and 4s will not connect to wifi. However, my PC and iPad will connect without any issue. I have tried resetting the network, routers, and cable modem. I have also tried resetting the iPhone network settings as indicated in the discussions. I've looked at the airport Utility and and only strange item I notice is that the AirPort Express is broadcasting on the 5GHZ channel, which I understand the iPhones only work at 4GHZ. Reinstalled version 6.0 Bundle 905 and everything works fine apart from an annoying message that shows to the right of the Bluetooth symbol "Connection to computer failed".This message only comes up when Bluetooth is turned on. The only Bluetooth paired device I have is my car. Prior to the re-installtion I never had this message come up. It comes up every 30 seconds or so.

ok, so i wanted to try to free up some memory space and delete some apps that i didn't need using desktop manager on my mac. i plug in the device, open desktop manager, click on the applications button, uncheck all the unnecessary apps (brickbreaker, asian languages, etc). when i go to proceed, i get a pop-up:

In the many years that we have had cell phones we have not had this many regular dropped and failed calls in Houston.With all 4 new 9000's we find that we also have to reboot to get emails and text messages delivered, sometimes.

Feb 22, 2010I got my 9700 abt 6wks ago, everything was working fine, Then abt 2 weeks ago I started getting "Call Failed" when trying to make calls. Now I get it 90% of the time, and after investigating I can not receive incoming calls either.I have contacted Orange who say it might be a network / location issue, but not sure and have not had any other complaints? However I have not moved and I get this all the time in my house, where as 6weeks ago it was fine. And also when connected in the car driving around in different areas to my home town it still happens.It seems to be a bug on the handset as my signal strength is full 5bars, 3G displayed, etc. Setting under NETWORK MODE - 3G & 2G, if I set this to just 2G then this fixes it!I am running v5.0.0.351 (plat 5.1.0.98).I have tried hard resets, wipes etc, and I finally got Orange to sent me a new handset.Still not working! I have also down loaded and installed what I think is the latest firmware update available for the 9700 from Jordan v5.0.0.442., still no fix so reverted back to v5.0.0.351.I think it might be that I have a weak 3G signal where I live, but switching over to UMA and connecting in my house through this still does not fix it? Is there a known bug that the 9700 gets confused/freezes when trying to switch in and out of 3G/2G/UMA coverage? From Googling Call Failed BB 9700 etc it seems that there are a few others out there with the same issue??? Any help how to fix/what firmware works etc It is driving me crazy because I do not recieve calls, sms etc either!
