BB Bold :: Touch Screen And Apps
Aug 28, 2012
My 9900 had a blinking light and would not start. my provider gave me the solution to force download the software, my phone works now but the touch screen does not, also I had backed up the phone and upon restore I did not get my apps restored. I had to download App World and when signing in it did not lead me to my previous apps or even the ones that were given free by RIM.

My 5800 touch screen is not responding well like any touch screen should. Compared with my friend's phone and he said there is definite problem with touch. Now is this rectifiable? Or better to go for an exchange? I dont trust Nokia Care because my e72 is still with them for some error which they are not explaning properly. Poor customer service.

I've had my bb for about 6 months now. A few days ago, i noticed that my screen started flickering whenever i used the trackpad to scroll through icons on the home screen.Later, I realised that it would suddenly go dim, i.e. the screen would still show the icons but so dim that the screen looks completely dark., at random intevals.Whenever I pressed the screen lock button at the top to blank it and then press it again to reactivate it, it would reactivate but again at a very dim setting.

I have tried every thing to make this darn screen work. I have pulled the battery and that works for maybe two days. I have tried back up the phone and that works for maybe two days then nothing. Is there a more permanent fix available? This is a relatively new phone (bought in april last year)

My touch screen is not working correctly. In the middle of a message it keeps jumping to the top of the screen and randomly jumping around and pressing buttons it shouldn't. I have tried restarting the phone a few times and still it persists. I have changed the sensitivity of the touch screen and yet it also continues.

I recently upgrade phone, from 9780 to 9790.Behalf the battery duration that's really poor, I've big problem with touchscreen! In my search in this forum and others related with BB, I couldn't find anything that helps me with the annoying touchscreen.I simply want to disable my touchscreen! I don't want that functionality on my phone. And RIM doesn't have any other equipment similar to that without touchscreen.I know that exist some applications that permit to lock the screen during a call, but what I really want it's to disable the touchscreen. Is there an official or officious way to do that?

Dissappointed to find I can't disable the touch screen. I've had a Bold 9900 for just over a week now and it's starting to drive me crazy. On a call it went to loud speaker or hold phone function for whatever reason or call to somebody else at the same time or various other irritations. The worst thing is that I work in technical support and many people call me every day on Blackberry. So during the last week I deal with lots of unsatisfied and confused customers. Is there any possibility to turn off the touch screen in a call mode? Are there any other possibilities how to fix this problem?

I have had the #9790 for about a month and the touchscreen is no longer functioning properly. This is not from any physical damage. I have done a battery pull and a full reload of the software with no improvement.

One of our users upgraded to the Blackberry Bold 9900 primarily because of the improved keyboard and weight. He is a longtime BB user most recently upgrading from an earlier Bold 9700 before that the 8800 series as well as earlier models. He does not like the touch screen and it is driving him crazy. I cannot find anything about turning it off. How can you disable the touch screen on it? I have seen posts on other sites requesting this, but have seen no solutions, other than adjusting the sensitivity.

Hi I have had the Bold for about 3 months and about 1 month ago the touchscreen stopped working, i looked online and saw the battery reset option (taking out the battery) it worked at first but then it happened again and again ect. So i then saw the alt+aA+del option this worked too temporarily so now i will take out the battery it will work for about five minutes and then you will not be able to use the touchscreen (everything else is fine)?

I am facing the same issue on my 5 day old 9900. The touch screen just stopped working on the 2nd day & it has come up since then. I have tried the following to correct the issue but, no success:
1. Cold Reboot (Pull battery when device is on)
2. Simple Reboot (Pull battery when device is OFF)
3. Remove battery then, SIM & SD Card, plug in battery then pull it again & put everything back in
None of these worked, my OS version is v7.0.0.261 Bundle 1346 Platform 5.0.0.464 Should I update my phone software? Each time I try to check for an upgrade it says you have the latest one.

Its been just 2 months since the purchase and the touch screen has started acting up. It stops responding to touch and the phone has to be shut, battery taken out, phone restarted and then the touch screen starts responding. This happens atleast once a day and I'm getting fed up of this.

Ive had my bold 9790 a few months now, but recently the touch screen facility no longer works and the charger falls out of the bottom of the phone and you have to wrestle with it to take a charge! I went to my provider and they said i must backup my phone< which i have no idea how to do! T mobile just assume every one is a techno genius and their customer service sucks!

I have just upgraded my phone to the 9900 bold, I wish I could disable the touch screen or have an auto locking facility? I cant find it. Also the battery life is only about 50% of my 9600 - not what I expected given that Blackberry are reknown for the battery life

I just bought the new Nokia 5233 phone.Whenever the phone is locked and I set a alarm. There is no way i can stop the alaram other than to reset the alarm manually by alarms-> edit.
There will be two touch buttons that apper on the otuch screen. One to stop and other to snooze the alarm. Even If press them, it wont work. The alaram keeps ringing. I even tried clicking on the green button and the menu botton at the bottom. Still no use. I cant even unlock the phone. Only thing i can do is press the red button at the end, which will snooze the alarm. After this, I have to manually change the alarm time.
The same thing happens even with phone calls. I cannot use the touch button that apper on the touch screen. I have to use the green and red button at the bottom. These problem come into picture only if the phone is locked. Otherwise it works fine.

Went to an at&t store today and played with the 9800. I had been excited about it, but had never used a touch screen before. Wow, forgetting any issues that “may” exist with OS or the device itself which others have more than covered enough elsewhere in this forum, I was somewhat disappointed. As implied, it’s not the device or OS, but the use of a touch screen vs. my Bold 9000 that I love so much (and thus I’d probably have the same view with switching to any other touch screen device, BB or not). (However, the 9000 keyboard still IMHO exceeds all others including the 9800, which I found to be small, even for my small fingers).
But for those of you who have switched from similar devices to a touch screen, how was the experience? How long did it take to get fully used to a touch screen etc.? One thing I anticipate missing - believe it or not - is the ease of getting around on my Bold. Now I have PocketDay and have 2 short cuts assigned to every key. Not sure if I’ll have the same abilities on the 9800 etc.

I posted this in the wrong forum earlier like an idiot. If you see it please disregard. I didn't know how to get it deleted, I'm still a newbie as if you couldn't tell. My Sprint Touch Pro's touchscreen slowly died today. And I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I should do. I bought it on eBay and apparently the warranty is non-transferable so that's void. I have it on Boost so I'm guessing going to Sprint is out of the question also.

Just bought a BB Storm 2, 9520. But i find something doesn't seem right, but not exactly sure if it's a problem or it's just the design of the phone. Please enlighten me on this. The touch screen of my phone doesn't seem "fix" like other touch screen phone. The feel of touching the BB screen is like pressing a button where it'll "depress" when u press the screen. Is this normal for this phone?
