View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there are other threads on this topic, especially regarding the Storm series of phones, but not anything from this year. So what's the update with this issue? It used to only rear its ugly head in landscape mode on my phone; now it auto dims (yes, with auto dimming turned off in my options) regardless of screen position or time of day outside. It's so bad now that it will auto dim and then brighten again like twice a minute. Really annoying when I'm web browsing or watching a video.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi got an 4s for my mom on early january. the phone was ok until end of march, the phone keep auto shutting down and have to get hard reset to on (sometimes hard reset not working, and have to plug to pc sync with itunes to restore). after got this auto off problem, i called the carier company, they asked me to update ios 5.1, but problem still. i read some threads here and online, and understand that if got panic.plist have to get replacement.however, after i restore (N times), sometimes panic.plist not show up (but the phone still will auto off). just because i'm signing plan with malaysia's mobile carier, i couldn't get replacement on the spot, and some asked me to wait till they call, some even told me to leave the phone to them about month to get replacement.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated to 442 and everything else seems fine except for the fact that when on a call, as soon as the backlight times out, it mutes the mic and the party on the other end cannot hear me. Clicking the trackball "unmutes" the phone until the backlight times out again. This happens whether I'm on speakerphone or not.
I posted this in the actual OS thread as well but figured someone in here may read this and know of a solution.
I've done quite a few battery pulls hoping this would resolve the issue but it hasn't.
The nice thing about upgrading from 296 to this is when you are on a call and the backlight times out, the screen and everything but the 4 buttons on the trackpad row go dim. So if its dark you can still find these 4 buttons rather easily. I just wish I could figure out this mute issue.

Majority of people never notice it but I'd say 5% of people have issues caused by it (headache, migraines, seizures, etc.) Kind of like the CRT flicker but in modern LED backlit devices.
To test use a high end camera/DSLR with adjustable shutter speed and look for black lines on the phone screen when adjusting the camera's shutter speed.

My phone shut down to restart after downloading an app from blackberry apps and now will not power up fully to come back on before it shuts down again. I have taken the battery out, and put it back in,but it starts all over again.

I doubled checked options and I have "Backlight Timeout" set to 30sec.

All buttons on the device including lock/unlock key while this is happend the blackberry screen is in sleep mode or whatever you call it when device isn't in use but ppl think it shut off automatically. During this time you can receive calls, bbm, nd text and all that you just won't be able to answer the call, reply to bbm, and so on... P.s screen turns on if u receive a call obviously.The only fix for this is to pull out the battery so it reboots fully this is only temporary may happen again.All you other people are just giving RIM false information like "blackberry just auto shut off" without even bothering to look into it your first goto place are these forums..

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a dedicated BB users and have been using many models over the years, but this is the first annoying problem i encounters with the 9700.i bought 2 tMo 9700 last week for me and my wife. when i got home, i updated the os of my 9700 to .586
the problem started when the battery level reach 40%. whenever i'm in a call or the bb in keypad lock mode, it suddenly shut off itself. and then i can't turned it on unless i plugged in the charger. but after it turned on, i can unplugged the charger and the bb would be normal until the battery reach 0%.
i thought i was a battery problem with my 9700, so i tried using my wife battery, and it was still the same problem coming out. so then i thought it was an OS problem, so i upgrade it to .593, and it still gave me the same problem. then i tried downgrade it to .578, and it still the same.then my guess was it was a faulty 9700. but i tried the software upgrade to my wife's BB and then she had the same problem as i am.
what's wrong with our 9700's? can anyone help us? i have been looking all over the internet but found no solution.we have the same apps installed beside add ons: ubertwitter, opera mini, google sync, googlemaps,foyage, blackcorpo theme.
