BB Bold 9700 :: Auto-unlock?
Mar 20, 2010I bought a defender for my BB9700 and works great, only thing is I try to lock the keys outside of the holster but it'll unlock on it's own. Not sure what happened checked all my settings and still does it. Can anyone shed some light?

Jan 30, 2010I seem to be having a problem with the Autofocus function. It works fine for close up pictures i.e. I press the button softly once and the camera focuses then the square goes green to say it focused, then I press again and it takes the picture fine. When I do the same for further away pictures I do the same process but the square never goes green....so the autofocus did not work. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
The camera settings are on normal for autofocus BTW.
BB Bold 9700 :: No Auto Phonebook Function?
Jan 6, 2010There's no auto phone book function in 9700? For example, I saved a contact 12345678. Hence, from the main screen when I pressed 123, the contact I had saved earlier didn't show up. Is that a common problem of 9700?

Jan 3, 2010Ok i just bought the bold, forked out the full price to have the phone that hopefully has everything i need. The pictures look great and seem to adjust under bad lighting, great camera but when i installed barcode scanner program and tried it i realized the auto focus is not working and from what iam reading, even it it worked you have to use the right convence key, makes upclose pic hard to take. I tried pulling the battery, lowered quality setting "whats the point in that?", set auto focus to "normal" and "upclose" but still the camera's not focusing. I tried all this through the barcode program and just using the camera, someone please help, everything else seems to be working great.

Mar 30, 2010I'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.

Apr 28, 2010Brand new devices.I have a problem with auto complete text. Once I transfer language from eng to other language with the keyboard shortcut (alt+enter ) the auto text stops working. Furthermore, the option box just disappears from the menu (options - text and languages ) !. Reset by battery removal fixes the problem.But, onces you repeat the above action the auto text complete disappears again...Some bug is there.... tried it with all 5 devices of my office.I contacted my provider- they were not aware of the problem and I demonstrated it to them. I also get an option to change it to a correct word but I have to press the middle button to do so. Jan 13, 2010I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.

Sep 3, 2010I have Outlook 2007 on my desktop computer and use BT as a service provider and for my email, my Blackberry supplier is Vodafone and I use BIS.I have noticed that if my Blackberry receives an email first I don't get the same email delivered to my desktop. If my desktop gets an email first then the same email will be delivered to my Blackberry. I was happily deleting emails from my Blackberry thinking I would have them all on my desktop but I now find I have to check what emails I have on each before I delete anything. Is this an issue that anyone has come acrosss before and how do I resolve it apart from synching the Blackberry and desktop?I'm often away from the desktop which is why I bought the Blackberry in the first place.

This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? Aug 21, 2010My Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.

Jun 2, 2010I have recently purchased this 9700 (3 weeks ago) and am generally very pleased with the device. BUT If I leave the BB 9700 connected overnight to the computers USB Port for charging, and, obviously, after a few hours the computer will go to sleep, thus turning off the power to the USB port In the morning I find that the BB is: Off and will not turn on, unless it is power reset. In other words I have to open up the back and pull the battery for a second then after It is put back in the red light will display nevertheless it will turn on and be fine once it boots back up. There are no other indications or problems. I notice that other people have similar complaints with their BB's.

BB Bold 9700 :: Bold 9700 Changes Keyboard Color
Mar 1, 2010I found it out! You have to dismantle the phone, though. Walkthrough:
1) Remove the bottom plate with the branding (use guitar pick, small flat screwdriver, etc)
2) Remove and save warranty sticker in case the phone actually breaks.
3) Remove the two small screws on either side of the phone.
4) Using a guitar pick, small screwdriver, or case-opener tool, start on the sides of the phones slightly below the convenience keys and move down towards the bottom. On the bottom, there are three small clips that WILL NOT BREAK NO MATTER WHAT. Disconnect them. Then remove the keypad top first.
5) Slowly slide the pick/driver/tool from the bottom edges of the phone up until the volume rocker. One tab on each side should pop, but they are difficult. Take your time.
6) Grip the sides of the bezel and slide upwards. The top cover should come off along with the back chrome bezel (the one above the camera).
7) The phone will now appear very basic with only the trackpad and screen recognizable. On the white lower portion, several small, rectangular LEDs can be seen.
8) Use a preferred color of sharpie to color a large clear piece of packing or scotch tape, and cut it into 2mmx2mm squares.
9) Place one color square over each LED. Reassembly
10) Insert the keypad into the bezel bottom first, making sure that the screw tabs for the keypad are underneath the screw tabs in the bezel.
11) Holding this configuration, slide the bezel on top first.
12) Make sure the hole for the trackpad and the trackpad itself line up, this will assure you that the keypad is in right. Also look at the "frets" in the keypad.
13) Push on the bottom of the bezel until you hear at most three clicks (the three tabs locking back into place)
14) Run your fingers along the side with pressure to make sure that you snap in the single tab on both sides of the phone.
15) Insert and screw in the two small screws you took out before.
16 OPTIONAL) Put back the warranty sticker on the ORIGINAL side that it was on before.
17) Snap the carrier plate back into place.
18) You're done PICS TO FOLLOW
