View 8 RepliesWell I have been waiting for the longest time for someone to post a similar issue but I haven't seem to find it.Whenever I play music on my phone and then begin to do other things on my phone, mainly respond to text or email, my phone's screen freezes.I am able to use the hard keys on the phone though so I am able to back out of wherever it froze.The only way to resolve the issue is to do a battery pull and it is frankly making me not use my phone for music purposes even though it is extremely convenient. I am personally thinking it has something to do with the keyboard but am not sure.This issue only happens with music and it includes the built in media player as well as programs like Pandora.When I play videos, my phone doesn't freeze, but also the videos don't play in the background.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with video playback on my Storm. I put movies on that I have used and have worked before, and now will not. When I play movie it gets the green loading alert in corner then starts to play the audio only with no video. I am on .419 shrunk, is it possible it removed something to play video. My recorded movie from camera do playback.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract.My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.

I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!
Approximately 500 songs have been downloaded onto my 9530 over the past month. However, when I tried to download a few more songs yesterday, the songs would synch as usual with Windows Media Player, but would not show up on the BB. The first thing I thought was "well, maybe I've filled up all the memory", but upon checking, about 40% of the space was left. Thinking that Media Player may have been in error (maybe there truly was no space), I tried to delete 4 songs for create space for 3. The old songs would not even delete. I am bewildered.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had my Storm since it came out. I take great care of it, only update with official revs of the BB OS. I only have a few applications. I turned it on a few days ago and got a white screen that had a JVM error 102. Called VZ tech support and they told me I had a corrupt file in the OS and asked me to unistall and reinstall. I have done this 5 times and still I have a white screen that has reset on it. Even doing a cold boot, nothing changes.
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I purchased a 1.5TB drive and set out to rip all my CD that I have been collecting since the 80's. I decided to put some of these CD's on my Storm. I opened the handy dandy DM and clicked on the media sync, but I would be damned if I could not figure any way to import specific albums. I can sync all (I have way too much to do that) or recently changed. But how the hizzy do I import only specific albums? Do I simply open the music sync folder on the memory card on my computer desktop and drag them over? If this is the case, why is the BB music sync program so lame?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've searched high and low for people posting about a similar experience, but after trying several different suggested methods, nothing seems to work.First off, I have a Napter-to-Go membership that I use exclusively on my Storm.This type of setup requires that I plug my Storm in and sync it to Napster every month or so in order to validate the DRM on each song. I noticed about a month ago that even after plugging my phone in and syncing that some files were not being validated (they won't play at all).
I was told that my best bet would be to reformat the card (specifically remove the music file) and start fresh.Unfortunately I've attempted doing this on several levels, including:
- Manually deleting every song via Napster (didn't work)
- Accessing JUST the memory card and attempting to delete the music folder AND after that failed (told me something about write protection) I attempted to reformat the entire card, which also failed.
- Using Blackberry Desktop Manager and attempting to delete said music via the Roxio program, which only froze after I attempted to access a listing of my music.
I have a Verizon Storm 9530, running OS 5.0.0.328. I just upgraded yesterday from 4.7-something. I avoid upgrading ANYTHING because of BS like this- read on...I'm 90% thrilled with the fixes/upgrades/"features" of 5.0. I can finally type in a webpage text field without the browser crapping itself, or use the copy/paste function without performing delicate surgery, or browse music playlists without going berzerk from the horrendous, unusable interface.
However, there were two "gotchas" that really make me consider switching back to 4.7. First is the Auto-dim "feature". It's very annoying, and broken... but tolerable. And covered in about a dozen other threads. So I won't beat that horse here.
My beef is with listening to music. I use my phone to listen to Pandora about 7-8 hours a day. Occasionally I listen to my own MP3's. I noticed right away that after upgrading to 5.0 and the latest version of Pandora (1.1.2.1 -> 1.1.3.2?) that my audio tracks faded in at the beginning. I thought it was some stupid feature introduced into Pandora.
On my way home from work this evening, I noticed it did the same thing with my personal MP3's. All of my songs had a similar, disgusting fade-in that lasted about 1 second. It wasn't even a 'smooth' fade-in, either!URL...(Sorry, can't link with <10 post count)
This thread describes EXACTLY what I'm experiencing on my Storm. I've only attempted to listen to music through the headphone jack. I'm using standard, off-the-shelf headphones, along with my cassette adapter in my car- all of them do this. With the built-in speakers, it works fine.
I'm a bit of an audiophile/perfectionist. I've had several other audio devices (MP3 player, Ipod, MD player, CD player), some of which have had options to enable or disable this so-called feature. I've looked everywhere I can think of (trust me, I've been searching these forums all day!) but my Storm has no such option.
I had NO issues with this before OS 5.0, and it's driving me CRAZY. My wife says it's "not such a big deal" but when you're ROCKING OUT in the car, and your favorite song's formerly powerful intro sounds like puke, IT IS a big deal!
I've been trying to put music on a stom for a while now and everytime I connect to computer it wont recognize my device. Mass storage mode is on. I have 5.0 os on it. It didnt work before I update the OS. So I have no clue what the problem is.

I have no previous experience with blackberry phones and the first thing i noticed as soon as i tried to test the phone is that every time i tap on the screen to make a selection the whole screen is mooving. It seems like the screen is not fixed very well on the phone body. Is it normal or the phone i got is defective.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Storm 9530 (Verizon), My screen went black today, I can't see anything to do anything. I tried to do a backup to my PC but it kept disconnecting, then connecting. So then I tried to update it, and it did the same thing, the update got part of the way through and stopped because it was waiting for me to "initiaize device", so I just started tapping the screen hoping something would happen (can't see anyhting rememeber) nothing did! I have taken the battery out too many times to count today, trying to figure this out. I even took it out and left it out for over an hour. Any ideas on how I can get my phone back?

Rep looks at my phone and says "well, thats why we try to sell you phone cases and screen protectors...we will NOT replace this for this reason." I asked her where in the manufacturers warranty it states my phone requires any protective devices. I didn't even want to argue the obvious point that a screen protector or a case wont prevent this. She just took it back and blew a can of air around the perimeter of the screen and said "sorry, but thats all I can do for you.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEver since I upgraded to OS 5.00.328 my storm's screen lock has not worked properly. When I try to unlock it, it will immediatly lock back up on its own and I have to unlock it 2-3 times before it will stay unlocked. I also have the same problem when trying to lock the screen, it unlocks itself 2-3 times before it will stay locked. Has anyone else had this problem?

I took apart the storm connected up the screen an then screwed it back up. When I now turn the Blackberry on the back light turns on but the screen remains black. I tried the screen in another blackberry storm an the same thing happens. Is this an issue with the new screen or something else?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 4 day old BlackBerry Storm 9530 and so far I love it. But I have an issue with the voice dialing and am wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if there is a fix.
When I activate voice commands everything works from the bluetooth, but about 50% of the time when I use voice commands to call someone, I will get to the point where the phone and I confirm the selection(name) to call and it will say(and show on the BlackBerry screen) for example: "Susan Home Calling..." And the blackberry will stay on that screen, not connecting to anyone if I press any key it will bring me right back to the "home" screen on the BB, no making any calls.
Also, I am noticing some dust specs under the top left corner of my touchscreen, I know its underneath the screen because I can tell, and I am very OCD about wiping off my screen and keeping my phone immaculately clean..
I am somewhat saddened by the fact that such a well known and highly respected device doesn't in fact have an 'airtight' screen, and lets dust underneath, especially after only four days, in a clean house and never even in a pocket..
I am trying tp change my signal meter from bars to db and iv done this before. But now I can't seem to bring up the vkeyboard on the home screen to allow me to enter the code. All the instructions say to open the menu and select "show VK" but that's not showing in the menu. Also, I mapped it to a side key and it brings it up everywhere BUT the home screen. Did rim disable this ability?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAbout 3-4 weeks ago...my screen starting acting strange. When I would hover a button (not clicking it...but to make it blue)...other buttons would become blue as well. Or the button I was hovering wouldn't turn blue and another would. When I would actually click the button...say for messages...the browser would start instead. Also...sometimes I would have the browser or gmail app open and after I clicked the BB button to bring up the menu...it would be completely frozen. It's like this periodically...but always occurs after a call...and the phone won't work for a good 1-2 minutes. This became worse and worse. So I finally did a complete reinstall of BB 5.0.0.328. Things were better for a week or so...and then it went downhill again. I haven't dropped my phone or added any new applications in months.
I have Verizon warranty...but if I go in there I have a feeling they are going to tell me that its a software issue and not hardware. I really don't know what it is...I just want the phone to work again.

It shows I have a signal, but there is that red triangle at the top of the screen, showing that I have no service. I know it is unlocked because everything says security disabled... I also changed the phone number to the SIM phone number, but still am getting nothing...
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I bought this used storm. Touch screen worked perfectly.But it had tons of dust under screen. so i did some research found a video on how to clean it. So I lefted the screen with a guitar clip, put a thin lint removing cloth underscreen. Got all the dust out, I was excited phone was looking Good.BUT NOW PHONE DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANY TOUCH AT ALL. I mean NONE. Anyone know what happened? What I need to replace or do now? Any suggestions or feedback would be great.

There have been a few threads on this idea that having fewer home screen icons means a better performing storm. Has anyone tested this?I've been operating as if this assumption is true, but decided to do some searching to see if it was just rumor and hearsay. I've found nothing that confirms this notion.Anyone have any real insight as to how home screen icons affect performance?

I called Verizon Tech Support and they just ended up giving me a brand new Storm 2 for free! All I had to do was re-sign my contract for another two years. Gonna miss my Storm 1 but the Storm 2 is sweet! Just got it today. Anyone wanting to upgrade, try using that excuse.
