Is there any way to shut off the standby button feature and just use it as a mute button? My phone keeps getting put on standby in my pocket and it wont let me take it out of standby.
I did an upgrade to v5.0.0.680 on my Blackberry 9700 and after that my Standby - Mute button not working also the Email Setup is missing an option to add a personal account it only giving me option to add "Blackberry Enterprise Server."
Can you tell me do you need to press the standby button for like 2 seconds instead of just a one touch pressure for the phone to go into standby mode and to wake it up toy just need to give it a one touch press?
Ok so i updated my OS to the newest one and now the lock and standby buttons have changed the lock still works but the standby does not turn on? how do i now put it in standby ? as the button does not do anything?
just updated to .545 and now i have no standby mode. also when i lock my device, before i needed a password to unlock but now it unlocks without having to enter a password.
I just updated the latest software to my bb 9700, upon undating i notice that the "key lock" key and the "standy key" located on top of the phone is not functioning anymore. is that any ways that I can i activate back both the keys? or how do i lock my phone with your latest software.
I have read about 30 posts on this subject and no one seems to be answering this question about the recently revised change of the "standby button/mute key" change. I do not holster my 9700, so a TRUE standby button is very helpful. A few posts indicate that the key lock button (left button of top of unit) is the same thing as Standby mode. IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! Keyboard lock has nothing to do with putting the phone into a lower power state. With that, does anyone know if there a button or process to put the phone into true Standby mode (other than by holstering the phone)?
I have noticed my battery losing strength even when it is shut down. Last night I was right at 50% battery strength before shutting it down and going to bed. When turning it on this morning it was at 20%. I understand about things running in the background but even while it is shut down?
Can anyone help me? I am trying to tether my BB Bold 9700 to windows 7. I have unl data plan but not "tethering". My BB desktop software does not have the modem feature. Is there a way to do it? If so how?
Can't get Activity Log to pick up any results. Use feature heavliy with 8350 model and can't get it to work on the 9700. AT&T is carrier and current software is V5.0.0.405 and software is enterprise server based. Any suggestions here?
I have tried looking before posting this but I can't find anything to help me. I upgraded to 5.0.0.545 and my mute key no longer puts my phone into standby mode. How can I lock the keyboard when I put my phone into my purse now? Is this OS filled with bugs or is it actually better?
I found out how to lock the keypad on the 9700 after this new screwy update to the 9700.To lock keypad press and hold "A" for 1-2 seconds or push the "lock button" at top left edge of phone. To unlock the keypad go to the very top left corner ridge on the very top of the phone and press the "lock" button. Will take some getting used to but will prevent unwanted calls while holstered or in purse. The best way I found to lock keypad without a password.
I seem to remember seeing this somewhere before, is there a way to disable the annoying auto-suggest feature during voice dialing? You know, when you voice dials and the automated voice comes off saying "next time say name... "
I'm a dedicated BB users and have been using many models over the years, but this is the first annoying problem i encounters with the 9700.i bought 2 tMo 9700 last week for me and my wife. when i got home, i updated the os of my 9700 to .586
the problem started when the battery level reach 40%. whenever i'm in a call or the bb in keypad lock mode, it suddenly shut off itself. and then i can't turned it on unless i plugged in the charger. but after it turned on, i can unplugged the charger and the bb would be normal until the battery reach 0%.
i thought i was a battery problem with my 9700, so i tried using my wife battery, and it was still the same problem coming out. so then i thought it was an OS problem, so i upgrade it to .593, and it still gave me the same problem. then i tried downgrade it to .578, and it still the same.then my guess was it was a faulty 9700. but i tried the software upgrade to my wife's BB and then she had the same problem as i am.
what's wrong with our 9700's? can anyone help us? i have been looking all over the internet but found no solution.we have the same apps installed beside add ons: ubertwitter, opera mini, google sync, googlemaps, foyage, blackcorpo theme.
I have been using 9700 since Early Jan 2010 without any issues but since last 2 weeks the battery is just finishing in 6-10 hours . I have checked all applications/ maps and ensured that they are shut. Is this a battery problem ....
I upgraded my phone with the newer software (available from the Sticky above) and am hating it. My "send/share" feature doesn't work on pics, the phone has been running slow, internet has been touchy, and a whole host of other dislikes. Can I DOWNGRADE my software? Or am I stuck?
i havn't posted in a while on here. I had an origiinal tour from pre release in july 09. its been awsome ever since then. but the trackball has been crapping out lately. and vzw has sent me a replacement. well its trackball was worse lol. so i sent it back. anouther one came. and the standby button didnt click like my original one and like my storm standby and mute key they clicked too. 3rd one came today it dont click. you basically dont even know ur pushing it.
so my questions for you guys are.... when u press ur stanby button does it click or no? do u just know ur pushing it cause ur putting force on it? or does it click. please let me know, my vzw rep is following up with me tues @ 8pm est to check up on me and decide what we are going to do. any and all feedback is greatly appreceated. and this one came in a vzw certified replacement box the other ones came inside a brown box that had a plastic peice on them to snug the phone in it.
so does ur standby/mute key click? does the lock key click? thanks alot.
The power button started to become unresponsive to turning the screen on and off. To begin with, it was intermittent. It was a bit of a nuisance mainly because I could not turn the screen off, but enough pushing and it worked. A double tap turns it on, so not real issue there. But as time has gone on, the problem has now reached a stage where its simply unresponsive, and I have had to change the time out for battery. I called HTC and they suggested I start in safe mode. This seemed to work. I had no issues with it, so I began to think it was an app conflict.
So I booted my phone as per usual, and began rolling back my apps. Eventually, the button became useless. It simply failed to respond, at all. I did a full factory reset, a full restore. No difference. Reset again without the restore (factory apps only), still no change. Now, the button must work because oddly enough, if I push the power button and the volume down button, it wakes up. In all, solution maybe something I have inadvertently done has changed the way the hardware is responding, I dont know. It will be better than returning it, going without it when HTC will likely replace it anyway. Other than this issue, I find it to be a great phone. Slightly better than the M7.
Here's the results of my 5.0 OS upgrade using the recently released Sprint package:
1. Phone boot time, from battery out to usable (home screen icons displayed, etc): 3 minutes, 15 seconds! YES!!!
2. Threaded SMS messaging is nice!
3. Phone doesn't feel any "faster".
4. Being able to set the phone to automatically adjust for time zones is nice--I don't recall that being an option before and has always bugged me.
5. QuickPull Free didn't work at first. Had to be uninstalled and reinstalled.
6. Standby button no longer putting phone into standby.Still works for mute/unmute though.
Of all of these, item #6 is the only one that bugs me a bit.I think the standby operation still works in general, as when I put it into the holster, the screen did turn off, but I don't use the holster and usually "lock" the phone by holding down the mute button to go into standby.
So, does anyone know if the Lock button does pretty much the same thing as Standby, or is there really a big savings in battery life by going into standby mode? As long as battery life isn't too adversely affected, I'm pretty sure that I'll stick with this release. Hopefully the next OS upgrade will restore the button... unless someone here knows how to fix the issue now!
I am new to BB and have a Tour 9630.After "upgrading" my OS yesterday the former "standby" (mute) button no longer works.I tried to find a place to assign "standby" mode to the left or right shortcut key but no luck. Also, I noticed my Opera browser is significantly different (and more annoying) because clicking the trackball goes back.
The top left lock button, unlocks in my pocket, what's the point in that?Is there any way it can be turned off, remapped, or at the very least have a warning that the phone is locked when pressed instead of completely unlocking the phone, like it does with the keypad?
