May 21, 2010After upgrading my OS to v5.0.0.586, i no longer have the option or icon to lock my phone? I have the Bold 9700 with T-Mobile.

BB Bold 9700 :: Hidden Phone Keypad Lock Feature After
May 22, 2010I found out how to lock the keypad on the 9700 after this new screwy update to the 9700.To lock keypad press and hold "A" for 1-2 seconds or push the "lock button" at top left edge of phone.To unlock the keypad go to the very top left corner ridge on the very top of the phone and press the "lock" button.Will take some getting used to but will prevent unwanted calls while holstered or in purse.The best way I found to lock keypad without a password.

May 30, 2010Is there anyway to revert back to the old way of unlocking the bold, like from early 5.0 OS? like when you were supposed to hold * and the call button, because I absolutely despise this new mute button procedure and my mute button on my bold is already becoming unresponsive.Basically I'm wondering if perhaps there's a application that can switch them or maybe even a way to configure a different button on my bold to mute because as it is the default button (top left of the bold) is pretty much becoming unresponsive on my phone and I don't really want to get locked out.

Mar 2, 2010With the new 5.0's rolling out, our keyboard feature seems to be done away with. Some of us, like me, do not have the best mute button. If I don't hit mine just right it doesn't work. Sometimes it may take 5-6 presses.

Jun 28, 2010Just upgraded from bold 9000 to 9700. I upgraded my OS to version .743. After that, I stopped getting visual voice mail notifications. The message is there when I dial "1", but doesn't show up at all under the VVM menu, nor do I get the visual indication(s). It did work on the AT&T OS out of the box. Second issue with this O.S.- phone does not lock when it is in the holster. I have to believe both these issues are with the .743 version of the OS, but I may be missing something. I've read others with the VVM problem, not none of the threads seem to offer a solution except to say that AT&T WAS having issues with this back in November.

Jul 26, 2010I have a problem with my Blackberry and would be grateful if anyone knows what the problem is.I have only my Blackberry 9700 bold for 1 month or so.I am unable to lock my keypad by using the lock key on top of the phone. This has happened before but after charging my phone it started to work again. I have turned my phone on and off, tried charging it and the button still doesn't work. Although the keypad will lock when I put it into the leather case.Do you think it is a problem with my blackberry and I should return it? 1. When I go to view pictures and hit menu I don't have the option to email/mms the picture, I have to go to Compose email, attach file and look for the picture, why is it like this? Is there something I did wrong or a way to fix this?
2. I don't have an option for keyboard lock. With my 8900 I set my left smart key to lock the keyboard and you have to hit * and call to unlock it. I know rim removed it so is there an app that can do this? When I hit the lock button on the top it locks it but it has unlocked several times in my pocket already and I don't want to set a password.

Jun 16, 2010I have a BB Bold 9700 white. I recently downloaded a couple of apps from appworld and they ran fine.The thing is my network company is 3 and personally I think they are S*** to be honest. The network keeps going onto 'SOS calls only' alot of the time so I called the company up and they asked me to reboot my BB. After archiving all my apps in appworld I rebooted it and guess what...all the apps disappeared.Downloaded appworld again to check if they were on it but no luck. They were however on my memory card but the thing is it says it cant open the file. All the files end in '.cod.rem' and they are all 'forward locked' whatever that means. Anyone know what's going on and how to get the apps working again?

May 31, 2010So my wife and I just picked up two new 9700s in white and black from T-Mobile with their buy-1-get-1 offer We're both already blackberry users. I was upgrading from a Pearl 8120, and she had a Curve 8320.After letting them charge for a while I finally fired them up to start playing with them.My first goal is to set them up as similar to our old phones as possible.
I checked the OS'es that shipped with each one and my black 9700 had 5.0.0.330 and hers had 5.0.0.586. So, I went to upgrade mine.But, while playing with some of the settings before upgrading I noticed that I was able to set my left convenience key to lock the keyboard on my 9700 but not on hers.In fact, the white 9700 that shipped with 5.0.0.586 didn't even have the lock keyboard icon in any of the menu screens at all.
I upgraded my OS to 5.0.0.586 and then went to check the left convenience key nothing.Went into settings and where it was previously set to Lock Keyboard, was now set to "Nothing".Is there no Lock Keyboard feature in OS 5.0.0.586? or am I seriously missing something?

Input language shortcut: ALT-ENTER
Enable Quick Selection: YES
But it still locks the keyoad whenever I try this

Aug 11, 2010Is there an "auto" keypad lock in the bold 9700? by that a mean can you set it to auto lock the keypad after a certain time of no use like the nokia and other phones, The only way I have found to lock the keypad is with the button on the top left.
