The top left lock button, unlocks in my pocket, what's the point in that?Is there any way it can be turned off, remapped, or at the very least have a warning that the phone is locked when pressed instead of completely unlocking the phone, like it does with the keypad?

I want to be able to only lock my blackberry by pressing the top left lock button and not unlock it when i press it again. This is extremely annoying. Can anyone help me?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I press the LOCK button on the top left of the phone, the phone locks (as expected). When I press the button again to unlock, nothing happens it's as if the button is not working. When I press the green 'Make Call' button I get the following message: 'Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock'. When I press the lock button (top left), nothing happens. The only way out of this is to take the battery out and re-boot.
This is getting quite annoying, as I now do not want to lock the phone.
Ok so i updated my OS to the newest one and now the lock and standby buttons have changed the lock still works but the standby does not turn on? how do i now put it in standby ? as the button does not do anything?

I'm sure I changed it to this at some point from something else however I don't know how or where etc. My friend's Blackberry (same Bold 9700) has a lock screen that shows a padlock to say it's locked but I don't get this? Any ideas? This lock screen displays her background image and a little padlock in the bottom corner etc.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.Is this something that i can change or do i have to do a restore??

View 14 Replies View RelatedI can't stand how the bold 9700 has a screen lock button on top of it- on my old curve i set the side convenience button as the screen lock and to unlock the screen i had to hit two keys (since i didn't set a PW)... now all i have to do his hit the top button-- i've pocket dialed a bunch of people now just by accidentally pressing this button- is there any way to disable this top screen lock button?

Not sure if It was dropped and something happened but I remember being able to tap the top of the phone with ease, just like the mute button on the right side, now there is a very noticeable difference.Anybody having this issue? I hate to sound like that guy who is super anal about his phone, I swear I'm not that guy, but this is just bothering me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade ( to v5.0.0.743) my lock feature will not work. Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull.

View 11 Replies View RelatedToday I was trying to lock my phone having installed the new OS (5.0.0.593) and when I press my functioning lock button (i.e. not physically broken) it puts the phone in standby, not locking it. I have a password and if I lock my phone that screen usually comes up. Whats the point if it doesn't lock? I've pressed the standby key and that doesn't lock it either. In a moment of desperation i assigned the left convenience key as a lock button, but I would love to have it at the top as normal.

T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Bold 9700 a week ago.I got the synchronisation with my PC's Outlook working for calendar and contacts OK.Two days ago I set up the Blackberry so I could get my emails on it as well as the PC.Now when I go to synchronise, I get a message on the Blackberry Desktop Manager saying "The default service for your device's Calendar has changed since the last time you synchronised."Click OK to use your new default servicer and combine your data "."Click cancel to stop the synchronisation and revisit your default service options on your device."I have no idea why the default servce has changed (don't even know what it means) and what I should do. The calendar default service on the Bold shows my email address, so I guess it is something to do with my email setup.
