Ok so i updated my OS to the newest one and now the lock and standby buttons have changed the lock still works but the standby does not turn on? how do i now put it in standby ? as the button does not do anything?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI can't stand how the bold 9700 has a screen lock button on top of it- on my old curve i set the side convenience button as the screen lock and to unlock the screen i had to hit two keys (since i didn't set a PW)... now all i have to do his hit the top button-- i've pocket dialed a bunch of people now just by accidentally pressing this button- is there any way to disable this top screen lock button?

Not sure if It was dropped and something happened but I remember being able to tap the top of the phone with ease, just like the mute button on the right side, now there is a very noticeable difference.Anybody having this issue? I hate to sound like that guy who is super anal about his phone, I swear I'm not that guy, but this is just bothering me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Bold 9700 and after I did a software upgrade ( to v5.0.0.743) my lock feature will not work. Previously, If i were to click the lock button at the top left, the phone would lock and would display my user information which I created. The top right button (mute key) would thus put the phone into standby mode. Now, when I click the top left (lock) button, the phone goes into standby, and when I click the top right (mute) button, nothing happens. I loved having my user information displayed when the phone was not in use. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can get around it? I tried turning on the password (which I do not like using) and turning it off again as well as doing a battery pull.

When I press the button again to unlock, nothing happens it's as if the button is not working. When I press the green 'Make Call' button I get the following message: 'Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock'. When I press the lock button (top left), nothing happens. The only way out of this is to take the battery out and re-boot.
This is getting quite annoying, as I now do not want to lock the phone.
I have a blackberry bold 97000 v 5.0.0.714(platform)5.1.0.146.Since the past 2 days my top left phone lock button is not working.when i googled it some said that you need to revert back to your old os to make it work.Is this a confirned bug in the new os?

I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedToday I was trying to lock my phone having installed the new OS (5.0.0.593) and when I press my functioning lock button (i.e. not physically broken) it puts the phone in standby, not locking it. I have a password and if I lock my phone that screen usually comes up. Whats the point if it doesn't lock? I've pressed the standby key and that doesn't lock it either. In a moment of desperation i assigned the left convenience key as a lock button, but I would love to have it at the top as normal.

T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?

I'm sure I changed it to this at some point from something else however I don't know how or where etc. My friend's Blackberry (same Bold 9700) has a lock screen that shows a padlock to say it's locked but I don't get this? Any ideas? This lock screen displays her background image and a little padlock in the bottom corner etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have read about 30 posts on this subject and no one seems to be answering this question about the recently revised change of the "standby button/mute key" change. I do not holster my 9700, so a TRUE standby button is very helpful. A few posts indicate that the key lock button (left button of top of unit) is the same thing as Standby mode. IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! Keyboard lock has nothing to do with putting the phone into a lower power state. With that, does anyone know if there a button or process to put the phone into true Standby mode (other than by holstering the phone)?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade my BB Bold 9700 via the blackberry automatic web site. I also have downloaded the 9700 software from TMobile. I have upgraded and restored my BB9700 3x now and each time after upgrading, it prompts that my SIM card is invalid, and thus I do not get any service. I can restore my BB9700 to an older version, then everything works just fine. I don't get why I am unable to upgrade to the newest 5.0 software though?

I've tried the upgrade via the Blackberry Website auto update button...
I've tried the upgrade via TMobile's bbugrade site as well...
All tries do the same, my SIM card after the upgrades is "Invalid"...Does anyone have any answers on how to fix this, or do I have to stay with the older versions to keep my phone working.
I just upgraded BBM to the latest version but now, I can't view my chat history with my contacts. However, when I plug my BB in to my computer, I can find the .csv files that have the history for each of my contacts.How can I make it so that I can review the history of each contact in BBM?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Bold 9700 a week ago.I got the synchronisation with my PC's Outlook working for calendar and contacts OK.Two days ago I set up the Blackberry so I could get my emails on it as well as the PC.Now when I go to synchronise, I get a message on the Blackberry Desktop Manager saying "The default service for your device's Calendar has changed since the last time you synchronised."Click OK to use your new default servicer and combine your data "."Click cancel to stop the synchronisation and revisit your default service options on your device."I have no idea why the default servce has changed (don't even know what it means) and what I should do. The calendar default service on the Bold shows my email address, so I guess it is something to do with my email setup.
