I have tried looking before posting this but I can't find anything to help me. I upgraded to 5.0.0.545 and my mute key no longer puts my phone into standby mode. How can I lock the keyboard when I put my phone into my purse now? Is this OS filled with bugs or is it actually better?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have read about 30 posts on this subject and no one seems to be answering this question about the recently revised change of the "standby button/mute key" change. I do not holster my 9700, so a TRUE standby button is very helpful. A few posts indicate that the key lock button (left button of top of unit) is the same thing as Standby mode. IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! Keyboard lock has nothing to do with putting the phone into a lower power state. With that, does anyone know if there a button or process to put the phone into true Standby mode (other than by holstering the phone)?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought an official Samsung S6 Edge flip case cover for my phone. The S6 Edge fits very nicely and it looks professional. However... when I put my phone in this case, it immediately goes into sleep mode and I can't wake it up unless I take it completely out of the case. And even then the touch screen doesn't work and I have to do a hard reboot by holding the Power - Home - Volume keys.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated to 442 and everything else seems fine except for the fact that when on a call, as soon as the backlight times out, it mutes the mic and the party on the other end cannot hear me. Clicking the trackball "unmutes" the phone until the backlight times out again. This happens whether I'm on speakerphone or not.
I posted this in the actual OS thread as well but figured someone in here may read this and know of a solution.
I've done quite a few battery pulls hoping this would resolve the issue but it hasn't.
The nice thing about upgrading from 296 to this is when you are on a call and the backlight times out, the screen and everything but the 4 buttons on the trackpad row go dim. So if its dark you can still find these 4 buttons rather easily. I just wish I could figure out this mute issue.
I have a blackberry bold 9700. My mute button works for music etc but the standby mode function doesnt work. How can i fix this? I have the latest version 5 firmware

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo earlier today before I went in to school I put my phone in bedside mode (so that the led would not blink (I use berrybuzz, which is very bright)) then locked the keyboard and put it in standby, for added security, before putting it in my book bag. After 2nd period I got my phone out and it was hot, as if it had been continuously downloading something or playing a video. The screen was dim but never turned off. The battery, which was at 100% only 1 or 2 hours earlier, was drained to 1 bar. I checked to see if any apps were running, with no luck, and then pulled the battery out and left it out until about an hour ago or so. The phone is fine now, but I don't know what happened.

Facebook, Whatsapp etc. I haven't selected apps that should be active in extended mode. And now all of a sudden I'm getting notifications in extended Standby Mode even when I'm not using the phone and no apps are allowed to be active.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running the PurpleRa1n JB (the 2nd release, the one that was more stable, RC2 I think it was called) on a launch day 3GS and it's 3.0 FW. For about a month now everytime I install something, be it from the official App Store or the "other" App Store (I'm mentioning it to give full details of the issue, not to be lectured on the rights and wrongs of said program and what it "stands" for please) the phone will reboot/respring itself as soon as the app installs and it will always be in safe mode and I need to restart it again to return to normal. Curiously enough, EVERY SINGLE TIME it does this my camera icon, which is just the stock icon (not any changed/themed icon), is always moved from my home page to it's very own page. My home screen will look the same except no camera icon, and then page 2 will be JUST the camera icon, then page 3 and on are the same as I had them set, they are just one over (since the camera icon is now page 2).It also does this upon updating apps through the app store, and sometimes when I'm just browsing Safari it will slow to a crawl or freeze up (like when I try to scroll around it will be unresponsive or just move the page SUPER slow) and then it will restart itself into safe mode. I'm not sure if it does it when installing/updating Cydia stuff, I haven't used Cydia in awhile.
Normally I'd just restore and re-jailbreak but that's not an option here as Im on 3.0 FW and do NOT have my files backed up in Cydia. Basically I held off on upgrading to 3.1 then re-JBing since there were reports that it was buggy initially. I pretty much forgot about it after that since I have the 3.0 MMS enabling network profile from Cydia. I hadn't used Cydia for awhile around that time and when I finally did I noticed the "make my life easier" thing but didn't click it because it said it was for 3.1 and I was (am) on 3.0. I didn't click "no" though, it still asks me everytime I open Cydia. Then I started noticing a lot of cool new games/apps require the newest FW, or newer than 3.0, so I decided to upgrade to 3.1.2 and re-JB, but I literally decided a day too late as 3.1.3 had just come out so I couldn't get 3.1.2 signed anymore.So that's the rundown of my problem. My 3.0 3GS JB reboots itself into safe mode every single time I install ANYTHING, apps, games, updates, whatever, and also occasionally (maybe 5 or 6 times since this problem started a month or so ago) when browsing Safari. Any ideas as to what it could be and how I can fix it (WITHOUT restoring/re-JBing since I cannot do that given the FW I'm running, the lack of files stored in Cydia, and the lack of a 3GS JB for the newest FW)?Sorry for the long post, I wanted to give as much detailed info on the problem as possible.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a bold 9700 v5.0.0.400(Platform 5.1.0.110)I always keep my phone on vibrate - I prefer it this way as I can be inconspicuous and answer at my convienience.I set an alarm the other day, and was shocked to discover it played an alarm ringtone.I also wanted to watch a movie silently, but it wouldn't let me, and started playing the track despite me thinking I had all the sounds off.Is there some master setting to mute all sounds, period?If not, how could I go about at least muting the alarm sounds?

On the old bold (9000), I was able to change the volume or make it mute right on the message. This doesn't give me an option to change the volume.I checked in my settings and there is nothing that looks wrong.

I just received my new windshield cradle that grips it from top and bottom, and the buttons are invariable pressed accidentally for a variety of reasons. View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday I updated the software on my phone and downloaded the OVI Chat with the Here and Now software etc. The download and installation of the software went smoothly. I even turned off and turned back on the phone to ensure that all went well AFTER the installation was complete.
Today, however, my phone isn't working. This afternoon the phone displayed a white screen for 2 seconds -- I wasn't doing anything on the phone. When the screen came back I noticed that the phone wasn't locking anymore so I restarted the phone. It's not coming back on.
So far, I've tried the following:
1. removed the battery from the phone and put it back in
2. removed the memory card and tried to restart the phone
3. tried connecting the phone to the computer to see if the computer could read it
4. tried the hard reset (3 + * + call button + power button)
Can you tell me do you need to press the standby button for like 2 seconds instead of just a one touch pressure for the phone to go into standby mode and to wake it up toy just need to give it a one touch press?

It only lasts about 4 hours if the Mobile Network, WiFi and Blue Tooth are enabled. Also, I have recently installed the latest software updates.Is it normal for the battery to drain this quickly while the phone is on stand by mode?
