BB Bold :: 9780 - Customizing Numbers Field Of Contacts
Oct 4, 2011I have a BB Bold 9780. I have been trying for sometime to find a solution to customize the 'Phone Numbers' field of 'Contacts'. The 'Phone Numbers' field has following sub fields- Mobile, Mobile 2, work, Work 2, Home, Home 2, Other, Work Fax, Home Fax and Pager. Is there someway I can customize them to my requirement? Is there an app or a software upgrade to customize these frozen fields to whatever I want?

May 23, 2012With previous Nokia phones I have been able to create names against phone numbers, necessary when I may have 6 or more phone numbers for one contact.
It seems impossible to do this with the E7-00, so I now have a list of phone numbers per contact and no way of telling the difference between each number.
BB Bold 9700 :: Contact Pictures Don't Sync With Phone - Phone Contacts Remain Blank
Apr 4, 2010I've just gotten a Bold 9700 and noticed that even though I have the option to sync the profile pictures of my friends with my contacts profiles on the phone, the pictures for my phone contacts remain blank. The Facebook profiles are linked to my contacts and sometimes will show the Facebook profile picture but after a while the picture reverts to a blank icon again. I've also unselected the option to sync and re-enabled the option to update Blackberry contacts with my Facebook contacts to try and force the pictures to update but no success.
I was thinking that it might also be because of a conflict wiyth other apps trying to update the contact pictures seeing as I originally imported all my contatcs from my Gmail account but I am unable to figure out which other apps, if any, are updating contact pics and thereby turn them off.
Blackberry contacts linked to a LinkedIn profile show their LinkedIn profile pics correctly though and other than that I only have BB Messenger, GTalk, Windows Live Messenger and Facebook that are linked to my Blackberry contacts.Any ideas on how I can get my contacts' pictures to sync correctly with Facebook?

Jan 13, 2010I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.

Aug 25, 2010The contacts in outlook have only my new contact info (1 contact) and the desktop and wireless software want to synchronize with this folder. The sync works between the two devises however it does not recognize the loads of contacts that are on my blackberry devise. I have tried all of the options on the advanced sync option to try toget outlook to download the contact from the Blackberry 9700. How do I get these two to synchronize?

Mar 25, 2010I noticed that my bold 9700 is restarting on its own , then the screen become white with writing JVM error 503, I search the internet to find out what happen, but few second later the phone rebooted own its own.
so i cross my finger while it was doing it. to my relieve it starts ok. But after few hours when i want to call somebody on my phone book, to my horror, the whole contacts on the address book are gone, not even 1 left, it’s totally empty. bbm, notepad, email, bookmarks, sms are fine , nothing is missing only the contacts are gone, and I’m now overseas for company meeting, and i didn’t bring any backup file with me, I’ve been a maniac for smart phones, i used Symbian, IPhone, android, winMo, etc and NONE of them ever give me such a problem out of no where, my 2000+ contacts are gone. And no I didn’t install or do anything to my phone since few weeks, cause I’m on my business trip.
is there any solution to my problem? I’ve tried sending service book bust doesn’t seem to help. Seriously, if Any of RIM employee or designer happens to see this post, i got question for you. This supposed to be a business phone, and now all my business contacts are gone.

Mar 17, 2010My apologies if this is discussed somewhere else, I looked, couldnt find it. So does anybody know of an easy way to sync my contacts FROM my blackberry TO my gmail contacts? I have google sync on my phone, but that only messed up my contacts by dumping a bunch of duplicates into my BB contacts and it doesnt seem to reverse sync. I have since deleted my gmail contacts so I dont suffer this fate again, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to reverse sync from BB to gmail.

Sep 2, 2010So I have owned a Black Bold 9700 for a while now and about 2 months ago I switched to a White 9700. I would always get at least one day out of my battery in my black 9700. And I was with my white 9700 as well until about 2 weeks ago.I rarely talk on my phone but I am a heavy user with BBM, text and email and a bit with Facebook which I know uses a lot of battery... I have about 90 contacts on BBM and use it constantly everyday -- chatting with 4 to 5 ppl at a time constantly. However, I'm lucky if my battery lasts from 11am until 5pm anymore. I have tried about 3 different batteries and they all have the same issue. I just upgraded my software from .743 to .862 last night.
And I switched over to a brand new OEM battery 2 days ago. I charged my phone overnight and powered it on at 11am and now at 2:14pm I'm sitting at 75% battery life.I don't have many apps on my phone besides Facebook and Weather Eye. The only apps I ever have running everyday are the ones that have to be running constantly (BBM, Phone, Browser, Messages). I rarely even browse the internet and I don't have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi enabled. However, I am always running on 3G.
BB Bold 9700 :: Contacts From BM
Jul 24, 2010Just upgraded to the 9700 from the 8900. Having issues synchronizing the address book through the DM. It synchs only 3/4 of the addresses and none of the email addresses. For example I have 361 contacts. It synchs only 290 of them and leaves off all the email addresses on all of them. Never had an issue synching before on the 8900 or 8350i.

Jan 19, 2010Its will not show the contact name anymore, it just started to do it today. It just displays the number which is a problem cuz I don't know contact numbers by heart.
I did a couple searches but I didn't find my problem. I'm sure there's a thread and sorry if there is as SMS problems with the 9700 are relatively common.

1. Can I download my contacts to a PC via Bluetooth or USB to manage them - update, alter, delete etc and be in sync with the Berry as I do it?
2. Can I replace all sim contacts with the then updated contacts list held on the phone?
3. How tough is the screen? After using phones with a hard surface for so long I was surprised to find a sqishy (technical term that) type screen. Are the screen protector companies and RIM one and the same?
A bussiness phone with a delicate screen, surely not, you wouldn't buy a car and drive around with a cover on it in case it got dirty and the paint washed off.

May 18, 2010So my service was shut off for 1 day because apparently it takes ROGERS more than 6 days to receive a payment made online...but that's another story. Got my service back on today and decided to reboot it and make sure the 3G and everything could fully reset. THEN I realize that my contacts are messed up, where some are completely missing, and others are multiplied 3,5,7 or 10 times! And this is not because there are multiple #'s under one contact - the same number and name is listed multiple times.

Jan 30, 2010I have the bold 9700 V5.0.0.321 I had all my contacts duplicated due to sync of my phone with the gmail.on one the contact it duplicate about 10 names and when i tried to delete one of them it deleted everyone of those names. I found out (maybe the wrong way) that you go to the address book press Options -> then press R S E T -> which deleted all of my contacts in the address book and now I cant restore it back. Every time I input the data names and numbers it wont save it. I had the back up but it says the DM doesn't recognise the data. Is there anyone that can help me on how to put my contacts back into my phone.
