Mar 25, 2010When I add a contact, is it automatically saved to my sim card? Or do I have to do something else? Can't really find an answer in the phone.

View 5 RepliesSo I used to have the 8900, and whenever I had a text message, I can just highlight it and click 'save', and it would save a copy of it in a folder, which means I can delete the one I got. For some reason, with OS 5.0, I do not have that option anymore. I went to the SMS option and had it saved to an SD card, but doesn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen receiving a new call from a new number (with caller ID, this number is not in my contact list), I can see both the name and number displayed, if i go to Add to Contacts, only the number gets copied over, and i have to manually type in this name (came displayed thru caller ID), is there any ways to get this default name copied over every time when I add a person so I don't have to type it in? A side question, numbers broken down to ### ### #### with spaces that are saved in contacts still will work with calls, but when receiving text messages my phone wont recognize it was already in my contacts(as in, it will show the text is from a number instead of the name I saved in my contact list). because text message numbers come with +1######### format.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI got the Bold 9700 from AT&T on Saturday and I have unlocked it and started using it on the Bell network as of yesterday. Before getting the Bell SIM card, I upgraded it to the latest OS from Bell (platform 5.1.0.116 ; app version: 5.0.0.423).I was taking notes on a memo, and I suddenly started getting an error saying "Memo updated externally. Changes will be lost and the viewer closed." I'm pretty used to saving on a regular basis, so I didn't lose too too much of my notes. It started saving OK for a while on the same note after it happened twice within about 5 attempted saves (so the 3 or so in between did work). At one point my memo got duplicated for some reason. I deleted it and was working with the one left. Eventually it started doing it every time I tried saving a note regardless as to whether or not I actually made any changes to it. Finally after not touching my BlackBerry for a while, the memo has disappeared. Not quite sure what's going on with my memos at this point. I haven't synced my BlackBerry with the computer at all today. I'm using BIS, and I have nothing that should be modifying my memos.
I am wondering if there is anything I can do or if I should downgrade back to AT&T's latest available OS version which is older than Bell's latest. I've found no one having these issues with memos, only with contacts and calendar entries. I've always used my BlackBerry for taking notes that are very important for me.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'.
In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
The contacts in outlook have only my new contact info (1 contact) and the desktop and wireless software want to synchronize with this folder. The sync works between the two devises however it does not recognize the loads of contacts that are on my blackberry devise. I have tried all of the options on the advanced sync option to try toget outlook to download the contact from the Blackberry 9700. How do I get these two to synchronize?

so i cross my finger while it was doing it. to my relieve it starts ok. But after few hours when i want to call somebody on my phone book, to my horror, the whole contacts on the address book are gone, not even 1 left, it’s totally empty. bbm, notepad, email, bookmarks, sms are fine , nothing is missing only the contacts are gone, and I’m now overseas for company meeting, and i didn’t bring any backup file with me, I’ve been a maniac for smart phones, i used Symbian, IPhone, android, winMo, etc and NONE of them ever give me such a problem out of no where, my 2000+ contacts are gone. And no I didn’t install or do anything to my phone since few weeks, cause I’m on my business trip.
is there any solution to my problem? I’ve tried sending service book bust doesn’t seem to help. Seriously, if Any of RIM employee or designer happens to see this post, i got question for you. This supposed to be a business phone, and now all my business contacts are gone.
My apologies if this is discussed somewhere else, I looked, couldnt find it. So does anybody know of an easy way to sync my contacts FROM my blackberry TO my gmail contacts? I have google sync on my phone, but that only messed up my contacts by dumping a bunch of duplicates into my BB contacts and it doesnt seem to reverse sync. I have since deleted my gmail contacts so I dont suffer this fate again, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to reverse sync from BB to gmail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to the 9700 from the 8900. Having issues synchronizing the address book through the DM. It synchs only 3/4 of the addresses and none of the email addresses. For example I have 361 contacts. It synchs only 290 of them and leaves off all the email addresses on all of them. Never had an issue synching before on the 8900 or 8350i.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIts will not show the contact name anymore, it just started to do it today. It just displays the number which is a problem cuz I don't know contact numbers by heart.
I did a couple searches but I didn't find my problem. I'm sure there's a thread and sorry if there is as SMS problems with the 9700 are relatively common.
google sync is duplicating my contacts, even though in my gmail contacts there are NO DUPLICATES.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying so hard to figure this out. I USED to be able to click the contact on my phone and then edit their information. That isn't working anymore. I can't even click it to delete it.
View 13 Replies View RelatedThe 9700 is the first Berry I have owned so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
1. Can I download my contacts to a PC via Bluetooth or USB to manage them - update, alter, delete etc and be in sync with the Berry as I do it?
2. Can I replace all sim contacts with the then updated contacts list held on the phone?
3. How tough is the screen? After using phones with a hard surface for so long I was surprised to find a sqishy (technical term that) type screen. Are the screen protector companies and RIM one and the same?
A bussiness phone with a delicate screen, surely not, you wouldn't buy a car and drive around with a cover on it in case it got dirty and the paint washed off.
I got my Blackberry Bold 9700 yesterday and am having trouble transferring my list of contacts from my sony ericsson c900 onto Blackberry.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my service was shut off for 1 day because apparently it takes ROGERS more than 6 days to receive a payment made online...but that's another story. Got my service back on today and decided to reboot it and make sure the 3G and everything could fully reset. THEN I realize that my contacts are messed up, where some are completely missing, and others are multiplied 3,5,7 or 10 times! And this is not because there are multiple #'s under one contact - the same number and name is listed multiple times.

All I see is the blue guy. I can see their status and name however. Let me know what to do! Thanks! I can comunicate with them fine as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically none of my contacts are showing up on my contact list, they seemed to have all been deleted! Also I am not using any filters. As well as this, all my text messages have no contact names assigned to them, just their number. However in my call log, my contacts names come up... And when I click on view contact through the call log, the contact's details all come up! For example, one of my contacts, John, is saved on my call log and when I click on view contact through the call log, his address and number comes up, so it is saved. However when he calls, his name doesnt come up. So I'm assuming my contacts are saved on my phone somewhere, but they dont seem to come up on my contact list or text messages!! I recently added my gmail account to my Blackberry.

The messages are still marked as unread on my device. Do I have to read them twice? I've tried to mark all as read, tried making sure the gmail plug-in was installed (it is), and my device is set to delete on mailbox and handheld, wireless reconcile is on, and on conflicts mailbox wins.
The second issue is that when importing my contacts from gmail, it imported ALL of them - everyone who has ever emailed me is now listed in my phone! How do I get rid of this
