I just bought The Blackberry Bold, but when I get texts from contacts in my address book, it doesn't identify them by name, just by phone number. This was never a problem with my old Curve. Is there way to fix/adjust this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI read where there is pretty much no way to reassign different names to the number in the address book of the curve but can this be done on our 9700? for instance, my friend has way too many phone numbers for his job and they are all mobile numbers. Is there any way for me to label one like nextel or somehting and one personal cell and one work cell? Or have one contact for mr and mrs such and such with both cell numbers in the contact but label one his and the other hers? Am I making any sense here?

so i cross my finger while it was doing it. to my relieve it starts ok. But after few hours when i want to call somebody on my phone book, to my horror, the whole contacts on the address book are gone, not even 1 left, it’s totally empty. bbm, notepad, email, bookmarks, sms are fine , nothing is missing only the contacts are gone, and I’m now overseas for company meeting, and i didn’t bring any backup file with me, I’ve been a maniac for smart phones, i used Symbian, IPhone, android, winMo, etc and NONE of them ever give me such a problem out of no where, my 2000+ contacts are gone. And no I didn’t install or do anything to my phone since few weeks, cause I’m on my business trip.
is there any solution to my problem? I’ve tried sending service book bust doesn’t seem to help. Seriously, if Any of RIM employee or designer happens to see this post, i got question for you. This supposed to be a business phone, and now all my business contacts are gone.
So I added a new gmail email address to my phone but by accident, when prompted told it to synch my contacts with that account. The first thing it did was import all the contacts to my gmail address book, on gmail.com, effectively erasing most of them from the phone. I took it into the t-mobile store and the guy somehow managed to recover about 1/3 of the contacts. So when I took it home, I deleted that email address and just plugged it into my computer and re-synched the contacts from my address book. However, whenever I look in my address book on the blackberry now, at the top of a contact it says "Sychronize using: emailaddress@gmail.com" (Obviously insert the email address I used). But that email address is no longer on my phone, so how is it synched with that? It also I think it is creating problems with synching up my facebook contacts as their pictures no longer show as icons on my phone. It's a minor problem, and seems to be a software issue, but is there any way to completely un-sych my contacts from this deleted email address?

When I tried to individually add data I noticed that the option to choose Addresses/Contacts was grey (I can't tick the box).
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt is annoying when you select a phone number from your history, contacts, or address book and the Bold auto dials the number. If you select the wrong number from the touch screen the phone auto dials the wrong selected number, and it is easy to do this on a touch screen.
I want to be able to launch the call from the phone call key so I can check the number before it is called. I want to be able to select a phone number and make sure I have the right one before the phone dials.
I trying to sync my iPhone 3G but iTunes (10.6.1) doesn't see Address Book contacts & Mail accounts.
I have MacBook 13" (Late 2007) and OS X Lion 10.7.3. And iTunes doesn't send any error message.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a problem to sync my contact list using Blackberry Desktop Software. the problem is only 29 out of my 300+ contacts are synced. In my BB phone i noticed that in "Contacts/Options" there are two Contact Lists both with the name "Desktop". the first one has 29 entries and the "Wireless Synchronization" option is available but for the second contact list which has the rest of my contacts, the "Wireless Synchronization" is not available ! it seems that Blackberry Desktop Software can not sync with the second Contact List because of this.

Can't get Activity Log to pick up any results. Use feature heavliy with 8350 model and can't get it to work on the 9700. AT&T is carrier and current software is V5.0.0.405 and software is enterprise server based. Any suggestions here?

When entering a new contact the software will not allow me to enter a Canadian style alpha-numeric postal code -- in that field the keyboard is set to only use the number pad. Even if i show the contact's country as canada the field does not change.I can, however, enter contacts in Contact Manger in Outlook then synch the address book -- and the postal code shows up properly.
I want to Synchronize my device address book with yahoo's
After experiencing some problems I decided to start from cero and deleted all contacts of my yahoo address book. I then synchronized with the Blackberry desktop manager (arrow pointing out in both directions) and loaded all data from the device (address book) to yahoo.
When I do changes using my PC directly in yahoo and then sync with device all works apparently OK, e.g. if I modify a name adding a surname that will be synchronized correctly in the device, however the changes I do in an existing record in my device with the sync won't be done in yahoo.
What shall I do to have all changes done to my device's adress book in the yahoo account.
How do i transfer my address book on blackberry 9700 bold to a samsung S3? I went to m.google.com/sync on BB browser but there was no 'Download' icon
View 3 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this issue is related, but I changed my apple ID password yesterday, and this morning, my Iphone asked for my password before I could read an incoming text from a contact that is already stored in my iphone. And since then, text messages from some of my contacts, when I look in the "messages" identify the incoming message's sender not by their appropriate contact name I have stored in my iphone for them, but instead identifies them as " +1 and the phone number of that contact." For example if I have a friend stored as Susan in my contacts, but for some reason when I send a text or receive one from that contact, it doesn't identfy the sender as Susan but lists her number with a " +1 " before it (the number isn't stored with a +1 in my contacts).

I am brand new to Blackberry and am trying to edit my address book. All the telephone numbers from my old Mobile Phone have been imported to my Bold, but it’s labeling them all as “Work” contacts, which isn’t true.
How can I manipulate these numbers easily on my Mac computer? I downloaded Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac and have backed up the contacts (as a bbb file, I think). But still finding it difficult to actually see the phone numbers and manipulate them on my computer.
I have a Bold 9700 and I am using it in Vietnam.At the moment I am using it as a phone device only and have not connected the B'berry to my PC.A couple of weeks ago I have been unable to send SMS messages to certain contacts in my address book and a message appears as "X - Unidentified Subscriber",other sms messages to other contacts are sent with no problems.

When I pair the devices it will ask me on my phone if the car has permission to access my contacts and I'll say yes. When I go into the phonebook on the car or try to voice dial by a name it only pulls 10ish contacts from my phone. View 1 Replies View RelatedI was over at my sister's home. She decided to take a crack at guessing my blackberry password... 10 times. Ultimately she ended up clearing about 4 months worth of text messages, and contacts, the photos however remained unscathed.This lead me to wonder;
1. What is affected by a memory wipe.
2. Whether it's actually called a memory wipe, when someone enters your password wrong too many times.
3. Is there any way to get my contacts back?
4. Is there any way to get my saved texts back.Before I go on, I realize that this phone was and is designed specifically for business, I don't expect that there would be a way to get this information back, as that would defeat the purpose of a memory wipe in the first place.
5. How and where can I install the desktop manager? I've only been using my BB how it came out from the box because the CD included tends to freeze / crash my computer.
6. Why is it that the photos remain on the phone? 7. Before the memory wipe, my SIM card had enough space to hold tens of thousands of text messages, now after the wipe, and just another 10 - 20 texts, it constantly says "The SIM card is full." this is what got me HOPING, PRAYING, that somehow, my data was still in there somewhere.

i have a bold 9700, version 5.1.0.146, recently i have had issues sending texts to only a couple contacts, always in a certain time frame of the night after midnight. my time. I can send and recieve texts from other contacts. It is not this other persons phone.I have tried both reset options numerous times, i do notice once the phone comes back on i have new messages, that are actually old already read messages. So it seems the memory is goofy. i have changed my text delete time from 30 days to 15 days, and have cleaned up some memory in other areas. After midnight i seem to also get old messages poping up at the bottom of the screen as if they were just recieved. its sooooo weird! someone please help its getting very annoying.
