BB Bold 9700 :: Blue Phone Icon Next To Unopened Messages
May 15, 2010
I just got a new BB 9700 and I'm pretty good when it comes to Blackberries. But I have no idea what this blue icon is. I thought that it had somethin to do with missed calls but now I don't quite think so.
Alright, I've had this 9700 since the first week it's came out and I have never seen this icon before. It is a solid blue chat bubble (not the bbm chat bubble blue but a lighter one) I have no idea what this is, i have gone to my messages, my sms and deleted everything, this thing just popped up today. I have tried a battery pull among other things and have no idea what this is. Once again, it is a solid blue chat bubble (no white dots or red or anything near it) and the number is to the right of the blue icon.
I upgraded my Bold 9000 to v5.0.0.592 (Bundle 1004, Platform 5.2.0.57) to see if that would fix a power drain problem. Since then I've had an icon indicating an unopened SMS or MMS, but I can't find this phantom message to open it.Settings:Messages, Menu, Options, Inbox Settings, Email Accounts: all are ticked. Other Messages Types: SMS And MMS is not ticked.
Messages, Menu, Options, General Settings, Display Message Count: Unread. Display New Message Indicator: Yes.From the desktop, the SMS and MMS application shows the following text at the bottom: "(1) SMS And MMS", but when I go in, there are no unopened (yellow speech bubble) messages, only 1 opened (white speech bubble) SMS (it's in the SMS SIM Card Inbox). If I choose Menu, Mark Unopened on that SMS, the icon indicates 2 unopened SMS or MMSs; I then open it and the icon shows 1 unopened message; so it's not message. There are no unread messages when doing the following search SMS And MMS, Menu, Search, leaving everything as default except for Show which is changed to Unopened Only, Menu, Search: "Search Results (0), * No Messages *".There are no unread messages when viewing the following folders: MMS Inbox, MMS Outbox, SMS Conversations, SMS Inbox, SMS Outbox, and SMS SIM Card Inbox. I also checked all the other folders, no unopened messages there either. There are also no unread messages at Menu, View Saved Messages. After shut downs or battery pulls, I always also get the white on red asterisk indicating a new unread SMS or MMS. Doing a battery pull while the BB is on doesn't fix it either, nor does rebooting by holding the alt and right shift keys and pressing the del key.Changing the theme doesn't fix it either.Since upgrading didn't fix the power drain problems, and I've read online of others with similar problems since upgrading to 5 (not all of who've been able to fix it), should I downgrade back to 4?
I"ve had my bold 9700 for one month. The first 3 weeks were fine, all of a sudden, I keep getting the message icons at the top of the screen, but there are NO messages. I've deleted all messages, texts, phone calls etc., icon is still there. AT&T, nor the blackberry store seems to have a solution. I don't want to have to pull my battery every time this happens (multiple times per day).
I seem to have a problem, with the sms messages sent by my carrier, i am not able to see them (for example when i check my cost control), they do not appear in the inbox. But every time i request something from my carrier, and should receive a message, a blue icon on the right top side of the screen appears, right next to the profile name. Now i now this has something to do with the message, the thing is that i don't know how to read that. i've tried searching in the SIM message, but nothing, i've tried reading the manual again, but still no answer.
whenever i recieve a bbm message i dont get the little red star on the messages icon anymore, im not 100% sure if i did in the first place but it would be odd if i didnt!? emails its the same case i believe (not 100% sure on that one though)i use the imagining mmmooo theme that is in the top 25 free list... does this have an affect upon this?
purchased a Bold 9700 on Vodafone and have found 2 little things that are bugging me because I can't find out what one of them is, or why the other happens!
1) I have a strange icon that I can't find a description of appearing next to 2 messages. It looked like a little phone symbol. It appears next to 2 of my conversations, in my SMS/MMS inbox and on he Blackberry Messenger inbox (as the conversations are via the PIN service). I have other conversations in my Blackberry Messenger inbox that appear with a little bubble with the blackberry logo inside, and messages in my SMS/MMS inbox that appear with the normal white speech bubble at the side. However, no matter what I do, these 2 conversations remain with the little Phone symbol next to them.....
Message -------------------------- <----------- That tiny gap will highlight, and when I click it, it opens into the chat Contact screen for one of my contacts?! If I send another message, it then Message appears like normal again with the rest of the messages!
Carrier: Vodafone Model & OS: Bold 9700, v5.0.0.545 (5.1.0.140)
I've enjoyed my BlackBerry for about a month now, no problems! However, I no longer see the email message folder. 42 unread messages that I am unable to access.
I have BB mail, POP3 mail, SMS. None of them have unread messages. There are no missed calls. I went into each message service, clicked on the very top and told it to mark all messages read, on the chance that somewhere in there is a oddly dated message. I did a battery pull. This happened after I updated to the latest OS this morning.
Facebook is caught up. No notifications showing for it. I sent myself a message and then read and deleted it (yup, I am reading the forums looking for this problem). The icon is a gold envelope with a red asterisk in its top right, under the battery indicator. It has a 2 to the left of it.
I have just updated my 9700 Bold to 6.0 and now it does not work as a phone? there is no phone icon, it isn't hidden either. I ring the phone from a landline and nothing? completely useless..I have pulled the battery to no avail...
I have recently notice a small red icon next to the carrier (Orange) name at the top of my 9700's home screen. On close examination it appears to be a house icon. I can't find reference to it in any of the booklets or by Googling. (I've also noticed that when I'm in the office it goes white).
I have an icon on my phone and don't know how to get it off. Its a blue phone with a green dot next to it and theres a 3. My voicemail was messed up when I got it and they fixed that.I'm just wondering if it has to do with my old voicemail. But I want the icon off! Any suggestions?
I just recently became unable to recieve SMS messages on my phone this morning. I have not changed any settings on the device what so ever. It just randomly stopped working and is the only thing not working.
every 25 seconds or so there is a blue flashing from the led which lasts about 7 flashes. Now the bluetooth is disabled and the led connection indicator is also switched to off. I don't know how and why it started but I just need it off
Bought grey/blue housing off of ebay, and switched everything over. The midplate was a litle tricky, but not nearly as hard as people think it is. Feel free to PM
My 9700 is only 3 weeks old and now the LED Indicator light does not stop flashing blue.I tried... - Turning off the option "LED Coverage Indicator" - Under "Edit Profiles", I turned off LED for every alert - Under "Manage Connections" I turned on and off Bluetooth (I do not have Bluetooth). I also turn of and on all connections. - I removed the battery with the Blackberry on and then removed the battery after first shutting off the Blackberry Is this a known problem with the 9700? Short of returning it, is there anything else I can do?
My 9700 recently started not letting me view my new text messages. For example, sometimes I get forwarded chain texts and it won't let me view them, it'll show a random block of text and that's it. And if I try to reply to it, it won't show me my reply, it's only doing this with a few contacts, but it's still extremely annoying.I've tried uninstalling my third party apps and it didn't fix it, is it a setting I have to change or does anyone know anything?
I'm sorry I looked for a similar thread but didn't see one. I have an indicator that just popped up....on my home screen right next to my email/message indicator....it is a blue box with 4 dots and has a little red star in the top corner of the blue box (similar to new email star).
My LED indicator won't stop flashing a purpley-blue colour. I have an app which means I can change the colours, but the thing I have set to this colour is texts and I definately don't have a new text. My LED is turned off for Bluetooth and I don't know what else it could be! It's been flashing for over 12 hours now!
I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I woke this morning to see my Yahoo email icon back on my home screen. Has anyone else gotten it back? And lastly, how do I change it back to a stock BB icon?
For some reason I have ended up with the unopened message count showing one unopened message. There are no unopened messages on my device. I have cleared the Messages database using the desktop software but the device is still showing one unread message despite there are no messages on my device at all.Any idea how to reset the counter to zero?
I just got the bold 9700 ver. 2 from ATT and don't have the phone icon. It is not hidden, I looked, and not in any other folder. All I have is a phone icon that is for Visual Voice Mail, which I am not signed up for and don't want to be. When I click the VVM icon it says do you want to sign up and I hit No and it just kicks me back to the main screen. How can I get rid of the Visual VM icon and get the Call log icon?
When I get a new SMS, it is the same as a new e-mail icon. However, this is not supposed to be so... SMS's are supposed to be a slanted envelop. I never had this problem with my old curve 8320. I've also had this icon issue since I got my phone several months ago. The icons remain the same no matter which OS version I use. I am on T-mobile.
Just recently I have had some problems sending normal text messages..The problem is when I want to send a text I go to my contacts and try to send a sms message, but instead of opening up a conversation window I get taken straight to my recieved messages... I havent had a problem replying to messages after people have texted me, its iniating the converstation thats not working.
Just a couple of days ago, I received a BBM from my daughter, although my cell was turned off for the night. I thought maybe I'd not turned it off. Last night again, I turned it off (I always do every night) and was woken early because not only was my turned off phone receiving messages, it had also enabled my Drive Safely app and the phone was busy reading everything to me.I checked and the phone was off. I still had to push the red phone key to turn it on.I immediately did a battery pull and will hope for the best.Has anyone had this experience?
