BB Bold 9000 :: Reading Email Want Not Always Downloading?
Feb 27, 2010I have looked through the user guide and tried looking on here but I have not been able to find an answer to my particular question. I know how to set up my email accounts on my BB 9000 but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way you could set it so that it only downloaded emails when you tell it to and not always checking the email?

Jun 20, 2010SO I have searched manically for 2 weeks looking for a solution to my problem.I had a blackberry bold 9000
it died with WSOD- no calls, no texts, no work-y no mo'.so I had it powered up and used my mass storage feature to pull off 120 of my beloved pics... BUT... they are in jpg.rem
I know everyone says put back on your device and decrypt them or email them etc.. but this is not an option.I now have a new bold 9700 and it is through my company - so the security and encryption cannot be changed
Is there any software or any other way to change these to useable files?
BB Bold 9000 :: Removing Sample Media Files?
Apr 18, 2010There are three sample movies sitting in the system folder (BMW M3, Speedracer trailer and a Delta Goodrem music video) which take up about 85MB of memory. I have tried using maxmem from Berrycoder to remove the files, but it won't delete these videos from the memory.Using FileScout, I try to delete the files and the response is "cannot delete the file, it is an OS5.0 read only system file". Is there any way of deleting these files on the Bold 9000? I have read up on Crackberry on optimising the memory and trying to use BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife) but have had zero success on getting rid of these files. Another question while I am asking. Would deleting these files make any difference to the available free memory as reported through the Status. I am hovering around 27MB and want to increase it without deleting the apps I have loaded into the Bold.

Aug 2, 2010my phone gets the spinning clock all the time....so i am trying to prevent it from as many apps from running at the same time...so apps you just can't stop.....but i noticed that "Documents To Go Files" automatically starts when i reboot my phone....i went to their site...but could not find the answer....anyway to prevent it from starting in the beg, instead of having to turn it off everytime?

Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.

I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...

Aug 30, 2010I dropped my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the weekend and damaged the LCD screen. The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.

Jan 26, 2010I have a bold 9000 and I can not connect to the internet. Carrier is AT&T and I live in the North East (NYC area). Worked fine up until yesterday (Jan 25). Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. In the mobile network test i get the volling anomolies "Blackberry PIN-PIN: No" and it says can't connect to my email (gmail).

Sep 18, 2010A few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.

Mar 7, 2010Got a Bold 9780 on Orange from Carphonewarehouse in February this year. In June the phone stopped reading SD cards. Was sent away via the carphonewarehouse repair center and another phone came back. This phone has now come up with the same problem. Will not read any SD card and these cards work on other Blackberry or PC etc. I have tried all the remedies out there. Reinstalled the OS. Started the phone without the Sd card etc.

Jun 6, 2010I have a Bold 9000 that keeps going to contacts no matter what icon I click on.I tried upgrading the OS and the phone worked fine for about an hour and then went straight back to only going to contacts. The same thing happens when I downgrade.I am unable to make calls or do anything from the contacts list. The phone is basically unusable.
I have tried the upgrade and battery pull and restore from back up.Does anyone have any suggestions of what this could be and how to fix it.

BB Bold 9000 :: Is The Bold Significant Upgrade From Curve 8320?
Mar 18, 2010I'd appreciate opinions from folks who had a Curve 9320 who upgraded to a Bold 9700. I love the Curve, but am starting to have issues with long periods of watching the hour glass, but also mechanical age issues, like a metal pin that poked through the 5/D key.My only complaint with the Curve, other than the amount of time it spends thinking about itself, is that I could never use weatherbug or any of the weather apps, they just ground everything to a halt.

Jul 11, 2010I have been going through this forum for a while and have tried all of the fixes that I can find to no avail. I have a brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine, that never had the Desktop Manager installed. I have installed version 5.01 off of the web site. Windows is able to see the Blackberry in the Device Manager just fine and I can also see the internal storage available under My Computer and I can access all folders. The Virtual Ports (COM3 and COM4) are also available in Device Manager.
I went through and followed the clean uninstall and reinstall instructions and various other suggestions that I have already seen. For whatever reason, the Desktop Manager still won't see the BB. When going into Options in the Desktop Manager, it shows that USB is selected but still nothing under PIN.I am connected to the straight USB port on the back of the computer and have tried several there.

I press the green/ answerr button it gives letter ‘k” I press the hang-up/red button it gives me the letter M, the track ball is not commanding, it rotates fine but once u click on it, it gives me a letter. Feb 25, 2010I recently got a BB bold that's unlocked from ATT. I do not have the Blackberry plan, I only have T-zones. I am able to surf the web and such using opera mini. All my weather and internet radio applications work fine. The only thing I can not get to work is MMS. I can receive but not send. Says no mms service book.I found a generic T-zones service book that I installed to the phone using DM. Unfortunately the service book does not contain the MMS book. Where can I find or add this service book? There must be a way. Is is possible for someone else to send me their service book and have that work?

Troubleshooting Completed:
*Installed Blackberry Desktop Manager 501_b073_multilanguage from Blackberry website. Connected Device to USB1, Device recognized in Windows Device Manager as "Blackberry Smartphone" under USB Controllers and "RIM Virtual Serial Port v2 (COM8) and (COM9) under Ports in Windows Device Manager, but Blackbery Device Manager only shows COM3 "Disabled" and nothing else. Desktop Manager shows "Device Connected (PIN): None"
*Uninstalled Driver for Blackberry Device in Windows Device Manager and reconnected Device to USB2. Same result
*Uninstalled Blackberry Desktop Manager 501_b073_multilanguage and reinstalled with out Media Manager or Roxio>Installed device software from Provider specific Blackberry Site(software version 5.0.0.442)>Reconnected Device to USB3. Same Result
*Uninstalled Blackberry Desktop Manager 501_b073_multilanguage and uninstalled Blackberry Device driver through Windows Device Manager> Uninstalled ALL USB Root Hub>Restarted Computer>Installed Desktop Manager 500_b028_multilanguage>Reconnected Device to USB1. Same Result
