Feb 8, 2010When i goto this it says I need to put in a USER NAME:Ive never created a user name for my blackberry, only email and that dosnt work.

BB Bold 9000 :: Mail Server Settings To Access BIS Emails On PC / MEID ESN Number
Jun 1, 2010I am having trouble with some things that I havent been able to figure out by now and this is my last resort where to find answers. This issue is really bugging me. After literally spending two weeks with my service provider telephoning most time waiting in witing for a call center agent to get connected to and being each time transferred to another division to a last being transferred to the divission where I first started at speak meoving in a cricle and no one being able to help me and this whole theater every day the same for two weeks, I am turning now to the people here hoping I could find some answers
1) My provider in Switzerland is sunrise (BIS), so I went on to the website sunrise.blackberry.com and entered my existing accounts, 4 of them. Additionaly I registered a new blackberry email address to be able to use the true push service which is xx@sunrise.blackberry.com (xx being just a placeholder for my real name). The problem is though that I haven't been able to find out the mail settings I have to enter into my Mail Programm on my PC so I can access the emails on my computer. I dont know if it's a pop server, an IMAP server and not to speak of the mail settings of the server settings for incoming and outgoing email. Since it's actually a BlackBerry server I figured that the servers are BB managed (no one at Sunrise Switzerland even knew what BIS is or that you could receive PUSH mail with the Blackberry email).
2) I tried to register a new email address at https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html for a direct xx@blackberry.com email address thinking that maybe with this, it would easier to find infos about the settings. The problem here is that I have to enter my PIN (no problem) and ESN/MEID number. The Problem is that I haven't been able to find those numbers now mather how hard I tried; they are not even listed in options>status.

Jan 27, 2010My internet provider changed protocol for username for email account. Changed on computers successfully, not able to do it on BlackberryBold 9900. I went to email accounts, highlighted the account, pressed menu button to change username. But there is no edit option in the menu. there is validate, delete, etc. no edit. have no idea what to do. Unless the username is changed i cant receive emails.

May 31, 2012My iphone mail app regularly requires restart to get mail flowing. That is it is running (doesn't crash) but will at time just stop getting email updates. I then have to force close the mail app (i.e. kill it) and then restart it. After restarting it the mail flows again.
Notes:
a) I do connect to Gmail for my mail - I'm using the IMAP facility for gmail currently (i.e. not the "Exchange" method)
b) I do also have the Google "Gmail" app running on my device too
c) on iPhone 3GS, latest version of IOS

BB Bold 9000 :: Yahoo Mail - Deleting Mail From Phone Delete It From Computer
Jun 7, 2010This is really bothering me.I have a yahoo mail account set up on my phone - It has been on there for over a year - it has always worked this way - If I get an email (the phone goes "bing") and i read it on the computer - and responded and delete it on the computer it would be removed from the phone the next time i looked. Recently I began noticing that the message is not being delated from the phone if I delete it from the mailbox, and I can't figure out why.
Basically I want to be able to read the message on the computer and hit delete and for it do the same thing on my blackberry and vise versa. Now it seems to work if I delete the message on the BB then it will not be in the Mailbox on the computer.

Aug 4, 2010so I updated my OS and tinkered with my speaker (see seperate thread) and after putting my phone back together, the send function in e-mail is gone for replies. I can forward e-mails fine but if I hit reply, I get every option except "send". I actually had the same issue when I first got my phone but it has been so long ago that I cant remember how I fixed it. Can anyone assist?

May 17, 2010I recently had problems with my phone and had to restore it using a full handheld wipe. I reloaded ny data and all is well except that I cannot get my phone to give me a tone or a vibrate when I receive an email. I have the out of holster and the in holster settings set to vibrate+tone, high, 3 but it still will not give me any audio or vibrate alert just mail icon pops up so I can only tell if I look at the phone if I have new email.

Feb 22, 2010Normal settings changed to something or other - guessing Default? Nothing done here on my end other than a couple app installs and then uninstalls. All the alert tones and default ringtone went to something other than what they were.

Apr 3, 2010I don't know if this has anything to do with the recent BIS 3.0 update, but my E-Mail Setup Icon disappeared. I know it was there earlier today since I went in to see if there were any BIS 3.0 changes (I didn't see any).Now it's gone.I still have all my e-mail accounts set up and they appear to be working fine, but the setup icon is gone.Has anyone else noticed this issue?Is there something going on with BIS? Perhaps an upgrade rollout?

Aug 26, 2010At first glance, upgrading from .681 to .822 didn't appear to do too much; save for performance boosts, the OS remained largely the same as would be expected.. well, except for completely changing how the keyboard lock function operates and not providing settings for users to revert back to its prior logistics.
Lock Function Prior to .822: Setting your left soft key as lock, you could lock your phone from anywhere within the OS, showing a "locked" home screen (without actually going to it). To unlock after screen shuts off, you could press any key (as far as I remember) and it would bring up the "locked home screen", from there you would press A (or *) + Send to unlock.Lock Function in .822: Using the left soft key to lock, screen immediately shuts off going into lock mode without any screen feedback. To unlock after screen shuts off, you have to press only the "Power/End" key to bring up the "locked home screen" and then press the "mute" key.
Ah, so one key instead of two, just like the iPhone and many other smart phones; this must mean .822's method is better, right? Nope, and here's why.Reasons pre-.822 method is superior:On locking the phone, you received feedback that the phone was locked (nice), but more than that, the time was displayed, which is frequently absent depending on the application you're using (why it's not always displayed up top, I won't even begin to fathom).Being able to press any key or at least main function keys such as the soft keys and other function keys like the trackball to bring up the "locked home screen" mean quicker and easier access to the time as well as being able to unlock the phone.The mute key is flush with top casing of the phone, which makes it the absolute most difficult key I have ever encountered on any phone, and I don't have large fingers by any means.
Even if the mute key were easy to press, it's in a location that's more difficult to get to when holding normally compared to the keypad, which means even though pre-.822 you had to press two buttons, those two buttons where very close to each other and on top of that, close to your left thumb when holding the phone naturally.Why RIM felt the need to completely revamp the keyboard lock function in such a small update when the prior method had been in use for years while also not providing a way for users to revert to prior functionality, especially considering its user base, is completely beyond me.Based on this and other usability and user experience failures within the Blackberry OS, my recommendation would be to fire and replace the whole Usability/UX team, but well, that precludes actually having one to begin with.

What is the format of that username? Is it just a username like 'James31' or is it like 'James31@bell.blackberry.net'

Oct 26, 2012I have e-mail set up on my phone. I want to add another but this time it asks me for my username and password to access the setup. I've tried every combination i can think of with no joy. Spoke to my provider (O2) and they say this is a Blackberry UN & PW. tried my blackberry id and every other combination but still can't get in. Where did this username and password come from? Are they something sent to me by blackberry, or are they my own creation?
