My internet provider changed protocol for username for email account. Changed on computers successfully, not able to do it on BlackberryBold 9900. I went to email accounts, highlighted the account, pressed menu button to change username. But there is no edit option in the menu. there is validate, delete, etc. no edit. have no idea what to do. Unless the username is changed i cant receive emails.

What is the format of that username? Is it just a username like 'James31' or is it like 'James31@bell.blackberry.net'
Can it be completely different from your Emali address? eg email address could be 'x@bell.blackberry.net' then does the username have to be 'x' or can it be like 'xdfak'?

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust recently I have had a problem with being able to edit my email settings, when I go to main menu > set up > Email accounts it comes up with a username and password. I assume the username that it is requesting would be an email address so I've tried all of mine and all of my passwords in the box, it doesn't seem to be accepting any of them. Also according to my service provider and my sisters blackberry it's not supposed to be requesting any type of username or password there. I have three email accounts: Google mail, Window's live mail and my blackberry email account. My service provider is 3 UK.

I recieved my Torch a few days ago and set up my gmail account on the handset which has been working perfectly. I've had to change my password for gmail on my account. However, when attempting to access the email accounts set up my phone will not let me into the option. Everything else works fine except this. I need my emails for work but, as I can't change the gmail password on my phone or add/delete any form of email account it's a little frustrating, especially as I got this phone due to it being praised for how good emails are on Blackberry. Are they working on a fix for this? I can't even access the Blackberry Internet service even though I have registered my phone.

Everything backed up, however, the phone went back to default everything, selecting any tab or icon on the set up page will lock the phone when you try to back out or close, and emails cannot be configured - the emails reloaded but I cannot send, receive, or change any email settings - I get error message"unable to open email setup application. contact your wireless service provider." The MAIN issue now is my wireless service provider is not aware of this problem and they keep trying to send me updates via email not accepting that I cannot get my emails from my phone anymore. and are baffled that removing the battery and restarting isn't working?

I know how to "delete" the email account in my settings, but when I did that it removed all of my saved notes from within the past 6 months from the iPhone's original "notes" app, as well as removed my events that are saved in my calendar app. So I re-added the email account (which is an additional email account connected to my yahoo email that my employer added for me in the past (I no longer work there, so I don't need it). The strange thing is that when I bought my phone, I set everything up through a different Yaho account. How can I remove this email without loosing my notes and calendar events?

For instance, I had to fix my all of my profiles sounds after backing up, and I went to my Blackberry Appworld, scrolled over to My Appworld and it says 'no downloads' and I have downloaded a lot of applications. That's not really a problem for me, as long as I get messages when updates come out for the apps...? Now, I am trying to setup another email address and when going to 'email setup wizard', I am being prompted for a Username and Password. I don't remember ever making a username or password for email setup, but was able to firgure out I could put my PIN in for my password to be sent, which it was. BUT I still do not know what my username is, and I've tried my email addresses with and without what's after the @ and still no luck.

However - and this is where this gets a bit odd - Apple some time ago started (I believe) using email addresses instead of usernames for log-ins on the iTunes store, for Apple website log-ins etc. When I enter my password it is rejected. I have tried to chnage a few settings in the process of getting a longer battery life and now I cannot see the "sync email to handheld "or email signatures under email Preferences anymore. Not sure what I chnaged. I only see Ć«nable HTML Email" there now. Not getting any emails delivered under Desktop anymore. Have tried removing the battery and restarting phoen, still no luck. How do I get this back to normal settings?
