I know that your PIN is used to identify you and or your device correct. is it used for private messages as well? if this is the case, is there a way to change your PIN?

I'm having trouble with my internet. i can use my WAP browser but i do not see my regular internet browser, not even in the options menu. also my bbm does not work. i cannot send or receive bbms. i can send out emails but not receive them. my apps that connect to the internet will not work, ie berryweather, facebook, appworld. i get a message about contacting my provider and upgrading to a service plan that allows me to browse. all this just happened all of a sudden on this phone. i've tried reloading the OS back to the original .167, and numerous battery pulls. nothing seems to work. is there an outage or something? even my wifi wont connect to my internet at home. it says connected but its greyed out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently "upgraded" to Blackberry 6 OS on my 9650 Bold. I don't like the way my sent messages show up in my inbox and would like to change this. I figure I would have to do this in Options, but when I click on Option while I'm in the Inbox, nothing happens - just goes back to the inbox. I've tried resetting my device, pulling the battery, etc. to no avail.

If I don't see the phone blinking, I don't know I have a message because it doesn't go off. Any help with this ? And I'm sorry if there is a thread on this, I searched and didn't find anything.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 email accounts set up on my bold.. Now just last night i noticed that on one of the emails, if i send an email from this specific account, it doesn't come up with the message i sent with the tick next to it.
In my 2nd account it works fine.I have re-sent the service books etc. I have checked all the options in the email settings and they are all the same.
Yesterday I installed the new 5.0.0.509 OS and my SMS messages/conversations are randomly disappearing.
Is this a known issue with the 5.0 builds?
I have a BOLD 9000 that I've had for somewhat over a year now. I simply use BIS through my carrier (Rogers Wireless) and have configured 3 email accounts (One @rogers.blackberry.net, and 2 POP based)
One of the POP accounts I have desktop access to as well through Outlook so I have an ongoing history of email messages for that account. The other POP account I don't have web access for and there are some very old emails in this account database on the BB that I've collected.
I know you can use the Desktop Mgr to backup selected databases, however, once the emails "Messages" database is backed up, is there a way to view these emails on my desktop? The file format seems proprietary to BlackBerry tho. There's no way I can import this into a Personal Information Manager (PIM) to view the backed up messages for archiving and revisiting is there?
I got this problem after i upgrade my bold to OS 5.0.0.411 .I received 1 txt message and everything seemed fine.. at least I thought so ;A bit later I got a second txt (SMS) message but the content of the msg didn't make any sense as it seemed only relevant to another person in my contacts...
I had one sms in my SMS/MMS inbox and all SMS that came in after that appeared to be from the same person although they weren't! .... In other words, I get the threaded SMS but showing ALL incoming messages as being from the same person (the first one that sent me SMS after I installed the OS 5.0.0.411)!
When i receive a txt message i have to manually go to messages which says "no messages".it took me ages to work out that i had to click "options" and "view folder" then select "sms inbox" is there not an easier way of looking at my messages, rather than me having to click on loads of things to finally read them.Surely they should just come up straight away? like most phones.I have only just bought the phone and i am new to blackberrys so i'm just learning how to use everything x

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a bold 9000 v.6.0.282. I am with Rogers. This may seem like a simple thing but it is driving me crazy. I cannot figure it out. I simply cannot delete 2 SMS messages from my Blackberry Bold. What did I press or not press? I have deleted them from saved messages etc. but they will delete from the inbox. Also, incoming SMS messages appear at the bottom of the screen under the date of the un-delete-able messages, and those un-delete-able messages appear under today's date.

When I receive sms (text) messages, I get an exclamation mark (red) on the left hand side of the message. Any idea why is it there? Please get back to me as soon as anyone of you can, if it's a major problem, then I might just downgrade it to 4.6.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRogers Blackberry technical support has tried everything and they are now telling me it's a hardware issue, and I need to pay full price for a new phone because my warranty has expired. I don't think it's a hardware issue. I will explain. A few days ago I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.1 on my new computer. After connecting the Bold to my new computer, Blackberry Desktop Manager stated that a few of my applications are old and upgrades are recommended and therefore I upgraded. One of these upgrades included an upgrade to my operating system (to version 4.6.0.303).
After installing and re-booting, the smartphone did not work the same. I was able to use the phone, text message, and internet (rogers mall website directly and not search engine like before) but I could no longer set up e-mail, and PIN messages. I contacted Rogers Blackberry technical customer and we re-boot several times...did not work, then re-installed the operating system several times...did not work. I also checked Host Routing Table, and it was empty (as per technical support there should be a log of files). I tried to register and nothing changed. The only other change that I noticed is next to the 3G characters, there used to be a blackberry logo (4 dots), and now it's gone. I only see 3G.
When I open an email on the BB and read it, it shows as being read on my PC, when I open email in outlook, it still shows unread on BB. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere? I would like to see the messages as read on my BB so I don't have to keep opening emails that I have already read.

To change the font color from red to black for PIN messages, I selected "No" to making PINs Level 1 messages. Can I still set an alert tone for something that isn't Level 1?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought my blackberry about 4 months ago and it has been working fine with SIM cards from different countries, until now! My provider is O2, and I lost my SIM card and so I had to get a new one to replace it, and after it has been registered and everything sorted out from the provider's side, I found out I cant make any calls, send texts nor receive calls on my phone! Sim card works fine, as I have tried using it on a different handset. So it is my blackberry. Is it the settings I have to change? I hope I don't have to send it for repair.

At first it was just one sms and the number has gone up to 4 unread sms messages and i have looked and searched everywhere, deleted, did numerous battery pulls, even leaving the battery out for an extended amount of time, tried changing the theme etc etc. Is there any way to fix this?

I have a Bold 9000 and when I'm sending messenger to computer PC / MAC the person doesn't receive, on other telephones it does. I have friends with other models of blackberry and they have the same problem. Do you have a solution? I delete the application, I update... It's still working yahoo messenger on blackberry or not?

It is amazing that this can happen without any warning. This is definitely not the first time I'm loosing all my data. It's so frustrating that I'm considering strongly to leave BlackBerry and switch to another make.Also a helpdesk you can call to and speak to a real person seems to be not in place at BlackBerry. Maybe they hate customers?

I have added my personal Yahoo email to it and I now have 2 mail icons - one for Messages and the other for Yahoo.When I get an email on my yahoo email address it also appears in my main messages email box as well. I want to keep the 2 sets of emails separate so that it is 100% clear what is business and what is personal (Yahoo).I know it must be possible to keep them in separate mailboxes but cannot for the life of me work out how.
View 12 Replies View RelatedSince Friday I've been unable to hold a phone call for longer than 20 seconds and been unable to send text messages. The call fails every time at exactly 10 or 20 seconds. This applies whether the call is incoming or outgoing. I have tried pulling the battery and that fixes the problem temporarily but it usually returns within about five minutes. I am still able to receive text messages.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Blackberry Bold 9900 running software version 7.1.0.523.When I get phone calls from certain private numbers, if I make an outgoing phone call the number on my display will switch to "private number" and not be logged in the call log. The only way to fix this is when a non-private number phone call is received or to take out the sim and put it back in again.I have replaced SIM, wiped and reloaded OS, but still experiencing the same issues.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded to 5.0..592 yesterday. During the upgrade I backed up my data. The restore went wrong. I have hundreds of messages marked as new, but I cannot find them. The new message indicator shows over 600 messages as new, and that is not possible. When I started the upgrade I had 8 new messages. For example, I have a message I sent to a friend. Our SMS exchange was 4 messages, now it is hundreds of my reply. I presume the error on restore is the problem.
How can I clear this? Do I need to wipe the device and start over? It's no biggie if I have to wipe. Just wondering if I can delete the backup file and possibly the messages file/database on the BlackBerry.If it matters, it is an ATT Bold 9000.
