IPhone 5s :: IOS 8.1 Dictionary Not Working?
Dec 3, 2014After updating my phone to iOS 8, I needed to suddenly define a word. After typing and selecting the word in notes and selecting "define", I was given this message "No definitions found." Which was strange because before I update my phone I downloaded the English dictionary and the British English dictionary. After tapping the manage button, I saw that the two dictionaries were stuck on the blue downloading circle, at 0% and making no progress at all to download to 100%. The fact that I can't communicate with Apple about this (I'm not one for phone calls) or find the right option on the iPhone support page is bad. I need my dictionaries for school when a regular dictionary isn't available.

Sep 5, 2014As seen in the creenshot, the "British Englisg" dictionary is stuck on download. I forgot what happened, but I think safari crashed when the dictionary was downloading. When I re-launched safari and try to resume the download, there wasn't any way to do so, as it only shows an inactive download circle, which I cannot do anything about. I tried tapping on it but it doesn't respond. I tried resetting the keyboard dictionary in Settings, yet it's still the same. I tried restarting iPhone but the problem is still there. It looks so awkward lol I don't know what to do with/about it.

Currently, I have English, Hebrew and Russian in the dictionary, but I want to add French and German, or at least one of them because I am learning those languages....And whenever I try to add any new languages and I start the dictionary, it would take me to the "Remove a language" screen and if I click cancel it will exit.... My problem right now is probably more related to the software from Android, than from Sony 'but' I had a software update a couple of days ago, which apparently completely wiped the automatic dictionary (it's called "my words" in Danish, not sure in English if it's called something else but it normally automatically adds words I use a lot) which was a bummer but I've seen it before. The problem is that now I can't 'manually' add any words, and it's also not adding a single word even though some of the words I use in almost every single message I write!! I can't just have it learn from my text messages or Gmail, as I don't use either - I almost only use Facebook and Hotmail.

All other words have been added and are remembered just fine, but the word "am" ... the ACTUAL word "am" just doesn't want to be predicted. Ever! have to type "a" then select it, then type "m".
