I verified all my volumes are up,ve I tried a soft reset, and I even tried doing a hard reset--once by restoring the phone and another time completely starting it as if it were a new iPhone. I still have the problem. I don't know what else to try.

Wife is looking at getting an iPhone. Is it possible to have only the phone ring? Silent for everything else. She is an RN and is on call at night. Third part app is fine. She is used to a BlackBerry which does this natively. Also, any way to have different alerts for sms/mms and for multiple email accounts? I have conflicting information on this and wonder if anyone can shed some light.

May 3, 2010I have extremely poor hearing and none of the ringtones are louder than a whisper, even my gf who has normal hearing comments on how quite the ringer is. I'm sure this is a 101 type question but can anyone help me find a way to make my ringer stupidly loud? I still have the 1st gen iphone. Waiting on the g4 to come out.

Jul 15, 2010Im new to these forums so bare with me while i try to explain my problem. I created a new thread because i dont think anyone has done something as stupid as i have ... although if there is one you can redirect me to with a problem exactly like this then do that by all means
I've been running an iphone 3GS with firmware 3.1.2. jailbroken with blackrain and unlocked for quite a while now and its been working great.Although recently i jailbroke my friends ipod touch with spirit, and seeing how easy this was i decided to give it a go with my phone (i backed up before hand so if things turned sour i could just restore and reload my data).
After i tried this spirit jailbreak, the phone entered recovery mode so it obviously didnt work. But the problem now is that when i try to restore it via itunes to 3.1.2. i get an error message which is something along the lines of "The iPhone could not be restored because the device isnt eligible for the requested build".
So seeing as i couldnt restore it to factory settings this way, i tried re-jailbreaking it using blackra1n which i have used before as mentioned. However when i do this now it seems to look like its working (the guys face comes up) but when it reboots it just slips back into recovery mode and blackrain automatically tries to jailbreak it again. This cycle repeats itself indefinately.
So basically my iphone is in limbo as i can no longer restore it to factory settings due to the firmware error and i cant jailbreak it because blackrain is no longer doing it for me (ive tried re-downloading blackrain, and doing it on a different pc to no avail).

I switched from an iphone 3gs to an android a few months ago, but when some (not all) friends w/ iphone's text me, it tries to send it as an imessage from their phones. I don't receive the texts for hours at a time. Is there something I can do to prevent this? Or is on their end? This has even happened with people who I have exchanged numbers with well after I made the switch from iphone to android which I find particularly weird.

When someone calls me, my phone rings once and then there is a long delay before it rings again. My daughter has the Bold and she uses the same ringtone and doesn't have this problem. I have Sprint and she has AT&T if that matters. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Feb 25, 2010My phone does not ring or make any noises whatsoever. If someone calls, it will only vibrate. My profile is set to loud. Both in and out of holster are set to vibrate+tone. The only time I can hear sound is when the headset is in. I have tried removing the battery, but still no luck. There has not been any water damage to this phone. It was working fine for a while, and then one day it just stopped.

Jun 5, 2010I've looked and looked all over the internet and I have seen people with this problem but so far no solutions. I would like my bb8520 to function as any $20dollar phone would, which is to ring every 2 seconds instead of every 10 seconds.My phone rings, then 10 seconds later it rings again, by the time 10 more seconds have gone by, the caller either hangs up or is sent to voice mail. If you miss the first ring, hear the second but take a little while to find or reach your phone, you miss the call.
Is there any way I can decrease the time between rings?? I really hope someone has a solution besides contacting the carrier. The caller usually hears about 8 to 10 rings before it goes to voice mail, so it is not a carrier issue. The problem is for me, not for my caller.I have already changed the profiles every which way, you can only change the number of vibrations, but not the rings. My only solution so far has been to program a song as a ringtone so it lasts longer, but I prefer a regular ring ring. I'ts incredible that RIM hasn't been able to make this easy.
