When new contact is created there is option either to create it as local (no sync) or as synced on account.Once there are local contacts created there is no option to sync it with an account.I have quite a few and do not like to retype all.

I'm trying to sync contacts between phone and iMac.
I can create a contact on (web) google contacts and it immediately syncs to my phone; nowhere else.
I can create a contact on my phone but it doesn't sync to google contacts.
I can create a contact on my iMac Contacts app but it doesn't sync anywhere.
Pretty sure I have the settings correct on both the phone and computer.
I have checked settings-accounts and everything is checked to sync and it shows it sync'd earlier today but when I log into my gmail account and select contacts there is nothing there. How do I go about backing up this information to my gmail account?

I have nearly 700 contacts to sync so I'm looking to do this in the easiest (and most reliable!) way I can - any pointers? Or tips on how to make sure I don't lose them all in the process of syncing?

When I sync my iPhone 4 with my computer, it says it can't sync with my Yahoo account (as it has been for the past year) because I don't have an internet connection. I have wireless interent connection and I've checked everything - it's hooked up and I've tried to close out programs, restart etc. I have the latest iTunes version on my computer.

I have copied my contacts from my old phone via Bluetooth to this device and then I used the "Move device contacts to" option in the contacts app and choose the Samsung Account option to back them up. But what if I decide to switch to a non-Samsung device? How do I take the contacts from Samsung Account and at least copy them to Google account?

I don't want to use my gmail account to hold all my contacts because I used Outlook.com for emails. If i were to ever make a new contact on my phone, it then wouldn't sync with my windows live acct. View 12 Replies View RelatedI just discovered that the Photon doesn't allow adding local (phone) contacts??? The documentation even says an e-mail account has to be set up before you can add a contact to the phone..
So, every contact I've added as been added as a gmail contact. Somehow I have some local contacts on my phone, I think they came over from my Epic.
The problem with this (other than the obvious requirement to have an e-mail account to put someone's phone number my phone!) is that some applications that synch only look at local contacts. For example, I was trying to figure out why another QIK user that is in my address book wouldn't synch and get the QIK user information, yet some of my others did. I found out that all of the ones that did, are local contacts (that were added back on my Epic and moved to this phone). Any contact added via this phone (thus as a Google contact) won't synch with QIK.
Sure, Moto could point fingers at QIK, but this seems like it could happen with others, as they would certainly expect local contacts to be there.
Can RIM add the capability for Messages to lookup addresses not only in my local Contacts but in my Corporate Exchange directory as well as my BlackBerry Tour 9630 currently does?

I've worked out how to manually sync contacts profile pics from FB onto my contacts list, but it won't let me do it on my own contact details. (Basically, in text messaging, pics of my contacts are there, but I can't link mine to do the same).

I can turn auto-sync or the data off to make it stop, but once turned back out it starts up again. I have deleted most of my newer mail in case there was something bad included with the mail. Not sure what my next step would be. With the phone trying to sync all the time make it slow to respond to commands.

how to properly sync the x10 mini with my Sony Ericsson account. I have set up properly on both my phone and on my computer. It has performed a sync today but only the contacts have done this successfully along with one event on my calander. On my phone, I have a message stating that 'sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly'. The problem is that it has said this for around four weeks. New Z5 compact has imported contacts from my gmail account, these are not up to date, if I do the contact transfer from my iphone will these overwrite the gmail contacts or do I need to delete the gmail contacts first?
