View 4 RepliesI've just purchase the X10 mini pro. Really impressed with it so far. However, when i try and open 'Office Suite' which was pre-installed on the phone it tells me there is an update availalbe and to continue i need to download this. When i select the 'update' button, the process begins but after a few seconds i get an error message saying 'installation failed'. I've had no problems opening any of the other pre-installed apps, and have downloaded some from Android Market with no problems.

It also has a nice user interface.I spended 8 months thinking that Quickoffice was the best office suite for the E7.Too bad I did not learned that before.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
have just got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and created my first document on Polaris office, saving it as a .doc file. But when copying it to my computer and trying to open it, up flashes a Microsoft Office File Validation security alert, saying that a problem has been detected in trying to open the file and that opening it is probably dangerous and may allow a malicious user to take over my computer.I'm aware that there are issues with MOFV over reading some file formats -- has anyone come across this? Is it that MOFV can't read Polaris files, or is there the possibility of something sinister going on? I've run two different antivirus programme scans (installed on two different computers) on this file, which haven't flagged anything.

This has happened with Word and Excel documents.Edit and save went fine, with no errors or upload issues.Both times, the document originated on my PC (Win8.1, Office 2013), and I edited & saved on my 1020.I don't really care about whether it happens when a document originates on my phone, as I really need to edit existing documents on the go.
As I continue testing this issue, I'm beginning to think more and more that this is a buggy PC Office update, and not something with Cyan/8.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on install option from OVI Suite to update to the latest version, It keeps saying there's no network connection even though my net connection works fine. i tried installing the new version of Ovi Suite by downloading from Nokia Site, even that hangs after a while of installtion progress. Is there a easy way to upgrade or update new Ovi Suite ? Also if I cancel any installation mid way, I am not able to start it again unless I clear all installation files after restarting.this is frustrating to see a simple software upgrade is so cubersome.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFirstly, I've had a problem ticket and Emails with Nokia Support on the problem I'm about to describe and I'm told it will be forwarded to the OVI Suite Team to investigate.Basic problem is that Ovi Suite can not correctly register/recognise the maps it has downloaded to the phone.However the phone checks the server with it's map update function and reports back that they are at the latest level and no updates are available. Ovi Suite tells me correctly the maps I have on my phone but still offers the " 'gold star' Updated Maps Available" and if you then click this BOOM! all your phone maps are wiped out as the new maps start to download.VERY VERY annoying and expensive in time and financially costly on internet connections with limited/paid for bandwidth.I can confirm, as support have, that I have the lastest versions of phone software, maps software and installed maps.I've also done 3 clean installs (including running PC Suite Cleaner) and the problem still remains.As far as the phone is concerned it is totally happy with all software levels (after checking with the servers) and everything else works on the phone as normal.
I have asked if there are any internal logs/debug switches I can turn on to help diagnose the problem but am advised'for nokia use only' (or words to that effect).From an end user point of view this is very frustrating, especially the basic map update mechanism as once initiated all existing maps are wiped out on the phone.I think this should be changed if at all possible.Most people will want an up to date map for where they are or planning to go.However to have a map version of places you are likely to go at short notice (even if they are out of date) is and important backup/safety feature.To be forced to update all maps is really not a very user or server friendly feature.Anyway, any comments are welcome (do you have a C5-03 & Ovi Suite and see this issue?) and meanwhile I'll wait to see if there is a fix in the pipeline.

View 75 Replies View RelatedSo this might be a little long winded, but it's just what I've been through so I cant' really condense it down anymore.So a few days ago now (almost a week) I received an SMS from Nokia telling me to update my phone firmware. I then hooked my phone up to my PC, and checked for software updates. I updated OVI Suite to the latest version, rebooted and then checked again. It found the update for my phone and asked if I wished to apply it. Naturally I said yes, it then told me I should backup my phone first, and then asked if I would like to do that now, which I said yes to, and chose to backup everything. It then downloaded the update, applied it, and then asked me to restore my phone, All of which appeared to work fine.A quick look through my phone to check everything and it all appeared normal, My custom theme was there, my facebook app was there, my contacts/photos/music were there. Oh but wait, I was missing my Sudoku game. A little odd, yes, but no worries I got that from the OVI store, I'll just be able to re-download it, because that's why you make purchases from app stores instead of publishers directly.No, apparently not. This game wasn't listed in my "My Stuff" tab in the OVI application. That's ok, I'll just download it from the SMS I was sent originally.

So at a loss I decide to turn to technical support, I mean after all I have a technical issue I need support with.I e-mail technical support Basically telling them above. Then then ask for a transaction ID, which I have no record of (not sure why not?). I then provide even more information, ask them to escalate, ect. End result is, I don't get my game back. They have no record of me downloading this in the past, and for some reason it isn't available to download anymore.Frustrated, I e-mail the developer/publisher, explaining my situation. They respond promptly (within the hour), providing my with a link and SMS to download the application again, and apologise for Nokia's behaviour. Nice. I've now got my game back things are good again in my world.So with that little story in mind, I raise a few questions. Why was this application not backed up/restored with my phone backup? This seems like a pretty serious bug, especially considering that technical support won't provide download links for games or applications unless you can provide them with information provided by Nokia in the first place ( :s very round about).
My situation is pretty small in the whole scheme of things I guess. But if it can happen to me I guess it can happen to others. So why Nokia can things like this happen? What would have happened if this wasn't a small game, but rather a largish application, with data, that cost lots of money? Sure I could have gone directly to the publisher then as well, but if the purchase was made through the OVI store, what record would they have of me? This centralised store is supposed to handle all of these problems (ie, Steam or Apple App Store). Also how can bugs like this get through the alpha/beta testing of the OVI Suite backup utility? This must surely be considered a critical part of the application.Judging from my response from Nokia thus far, I'm not sure if I'm even expecting a response to this. I guess it should server as a warning to others if they think they can trust this software or even the technical support behind it to back them up in case of issues. My advise? Get a different brand phone.
OVI suite can't update the support softare on my N97... it's says "unable to install support software". Any solutions? On the PC I already unistall all Nokia software, used PCSuite Cleaner and cleaned the registry and then reinstall OVI Suite.I don't wont to hard reset the phone, format drive E and reinstall all the software.

I connect my phone to the pc, and the recognizes it, so i go to the update section in nokia suite 3.3.86, it then says my phones current software is 022.014, i click refresh, and it says my phone is up to date, but i know it isnt! I have been looking forward to symbian belle, now its here i cant get it!

So I do and it downloads ok, all 272MB of it, but it keeps on disconnecting when trying to install to the N8. The phone switches off and stays off.
