Xperia X10 Mini/pro :: Querty Keyboard Backlight Won't Stay On
Dec 15, 2010
the querty keyboard backlight on my x10 mini pro keeps turning off in the dark or bad light. I can manage to keep the backlight on, while I am trying to type without it cutting out after about 2 seconds. Sometimes it won't even turn back on even after pressing a key.
I bought my Xperia SK17i just a week back and everything was fine till a few days back. now even after locking my phone, the backlight keeps coming on every 1 min or so. It is very distracting. why has it started happening all of a sudden and how do i stop it from happening? Also because of this, my battery gets discharged really soon.
This had been bugging me for 3 days now. I don't have another phone to use. I've tried to repair the software using Update Service but it do no good. After pressing the On button at the top of the phone, the phone will vibrate after a sec and then there's a backlight but the "Sony Ericson" logo does not appear and after about 6 seconds the backlight will fade.
My new mini pro wi-fi will not stay connected. I have made sure the WEP key is correct, and the signal is strong throughout the house. No probs with the 3 laptops we use. Even sitting with the livebox on my lap the phone connects and disconnects a few seconds later. This means I am using the 2+3G connection at home.....using valuable 'Fair Use' megs up.
ever since the 2.3.4. update i found my button hard buttons stay lit when watching videos. they used to time out after a min or two but now never time out. is this normal now and is there a way to shut them off when watching videos at night. it is annoying that they stay lit especially at night. i do not have the dx2 in a doc when watching the videos. just have it on wifi and watching cnet tv and Internet stuff.
I purchased sony ericsson xperia mini pro SK17i last week. it came with android 2.3.3. I don't have any issues so far. I'm getting a message on my phone saying there is a new software update available(4.0.2.A.0.58). Before I update my phone to the latest firmware, I'd like to get some things cleared up.
1) If I update my phone from 2.3.3 to 4.0.2.A.0.58, the applications which are currently installed will stay?
2) Are there any known bugs in the latest version(4.0.2.A.0.58)?
3) After updating, If I find something unusual, is it possible to revert back to 2.3.3?
Tried searching Nokia's website, but website just hangs. Tried calling the support number, but number just disconnects. Tried sending online email, but doesn't go anywhere. Tried reading my phone's literature, but no joy there either, as it doesn't address the 2 questions I have. Don't really no what's going on with Nokia, so this support discussion is my last resort. Just bought E63. And I have a couple of questions. How to check firmware version? And if firmware version is out of date, how to update? How to get keyboard backlight to turn on?
I have just upgraded my phone and got a blackberry 8520. i have been trying to work out if you can make the keyboard light up when you are writing a message. does anyone know if you can do this and how you do it?
My keyboard backlight has a mind of its own. This is not a short, or electrical problem. It just works when it wants to. Sometimes it won't come on. Sometimes it lights up and works fine. Sometimes it fades off while I am typing. Sometimes it just illuminates while sitting on the table. I use my Tour in lowlight conditions all the time. I simply want it to come on when I touch a key and go off a bit after I am done handling it. Of course I navigated all the settings and stuff. I know all that. I have all the setting and options for the keyboard backlight set the way I want. This feels like a software or programming glitch. It never flickers or acts like a short. It slowly fades in and out as it would if I touched a key, or left it sit alone. Everything else works perfectly. I just want the keyboard backlight to come on when touched. And go off after several seconds of inactivity.
Like a lot of people, I prefer the Google keyboard over the Samsung one. Annoyingly, an icon appears in the notification bar whenever the Google keyboard is summoned. One way to get rid of this icon is to disable all other keyboards under Language and input -> Default keyboard -> Set up input methods. Unfortunately I've noticed that the Samsung keyboard keeps turning back on all the time.
I use custom keyboards on my Atrix like the Gingerbread and Iphone keyboard.
As I go to the keyboard setting and set this custom keyboard as the default one, the phone has been working perfectly poping up whatever custom keyboard I defaulted for couple weeks until yesterday... the phone keep going back to the default Multi touch keyboard and won't remember the selected default keyboard for some reason..
Today adventitiously i found bug. If in album mode tap on key "12!?", release and without delay tap on space then process com.sonyericsson.textinput.uxp dies. This is no so critical, but service restarts(?) with broken functionality: text in field is not visible and phisycal keyboards can't change layout.
I read ebooks voraciously, it's very useful when in bed with the other half and he's trying to sleep, not to need a bedside light on.My problem occurs when using an ebook reader (currently Mobipocket - though please do enlighten me if you know of one better which will easily take books from the file offerings of the Gutenberg Project):
The keypad remains bright, much brighter than the screen (especially as I set the background to black and the text to mid-grey).I'd love to be able to toggle off the keypad backlight somehow.I've found a sort-of workaround, where I go to the Clock and set Bedside Mode, then switch application back to Mobipocket - the screen dims and the keyboard turns off...
BUT only until I use the optical pad to swipe to the next page, and the keypad lights come back on and blind me. They do fade out again but by this time I'm halfway down the new page and about to swipe again!Anyone? Keyboard backlight toggle? Is such a thing ever going to be possible or is this a well-flogged long-dead horse?
Is there any way to turn off this ugly keyboard backlight on my Vivaz pro? Or just fade it down, it doesn't have to shine so bright! + drains the battery, please put a on and off switch for the keyboard backlight in the next update, I have already turned off my 3g because my battery doesn't even last 1 day. And one more thing, I think it should be possible to chose if u want the display to auto rotate or just stay in landscape mode all the time. And also, is it possible to make the standard Symbian home screen in landscape mode?
I was jut wondering...is there any way to keep it so the keyboard light STAYS on?? What's up with the light...i don't get it :/ i just got this, so if there is a way if you could tell me how!
I'm having a problem with the slide-out keyboard on my Xperia Mini Pro. Most of the buttons on the top row have stopped working, so I can no longer type the following letters: Q E R Y U O. This renders the keyboard useless. They all suddenly stopped working at the same time, so my guess is that its probably software related? I'm running Android 2.1 update 1.
My Xperia Mini Pro has a fault with the keyboard - when I slide it out it activates, ie the background light comes on but then it goes out. Sometimes it stays on a for a few seconds whilst fully open but then goes off. Nothing physical has happened to the phone and it doesn't seem to be a loose connection or anything. I've tried updating the software but that didn't help.
I have an x10 mini pro which has been great until today (on android 1.6) All of a sudden some of the keys on the slide out keyboard stopped working. Did a factory reset which didnt solve the problem. Decided to upgrade to android 2.1 and now none of the keys on the slide out keyboard work. Tried to reinstall android 2.1 and still doesnt work. Also tried the repair bit on pc companion.
I did my Mini Pro update yesterday, and after it I got issues with keyboard - A/Q and Z/W changed and I got also troubles with symbols. They arent on places that they should be.
I have my Mini Pro (2.3.4) set to never use the dictionary/make word suggestions when I'm using the slide-out keyboard. However, it still underlines each word as I am typing it, which is silly and distracting. Is there any way I can turn this off?
I gladly installed the 2.1 update on my girlfriends mobile and everything worked fine. However, under "Settings - Language&Keyboard" there is NO menu item for Android keyboard.... As it appears, she uses the standard T3 enty mode and simple does not like the recommended words. There is no way to set it back now and I am thinking about playing it back to 1.6 despite the advantages coming with it.
recently my x10 mini pro can't use the touch screen when sliding the keyboard. Then just yesterday, when i slide the kayboard out, the whole screen turn black.
