When I was using my x10 when it was only 1.6, when you typed a letter using the android keyboard, it would give multiple word suggestions (ie. i - is, it, in, etc.) which helped a lot. But with 2.1, if I turn it's word suggestions, it only provides me with proper names or contact names.Any way to allow 2.1 to use word suggestions other than these proper/contact names? I don't like the default keyboard.

I have ics installed in sk17i. I cannot disable the word suggestions that come on top of the on board keyboard which result in lesser space to view when writing a message. I have checked out language and input settings and disabled all learning words and no suggestion required from the keyboard. Also have changed the settings that come in the on board keyboard doing the same there. However the word suggestion still comes. The hardware qwerty keypad however doesn't show any suggestion.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI gladly installed the 2.1 update on my girlfriends mobile and everything worked fine. However, under "Settings - Language&Keyboard" there is NO menu item for Android keyboard.... As it appears, she uses the standard T3 enty mode and simple does not like the recommended words. There is no way to set it back now and I am thinking about playing it back to 1.6 despite the advantages coming with it.
Is there another way to change this setting?
I can't figure out how to use word completion using the onscreen keyboard. the word appears but I don't know how to select it maybe I am dumb? i have tried everything. searched the manual and the discussion threads with no luck.

It's as if the keyboard is drawing on top of everything else on screen, it happens with all keyboards I've tried; LG keyboard, Ginger Keyboard, and Google Keyboard(my current).

View 2 Replies View RelatedOK I just talked to SE tech support and they told me that the file transfer from the phone (say photos from SD card -- to PC) via Bluetooth IS NOT POSSIBLE! The feature was removed WITH 2.1!! The only thing you can do is to transfer files TO the phone, but I was told I need a separate android app to make my $400 phone do what a $30 nokia can do without any problems -- (browse my photos on the memory card and transfer them to my computer)!!! I selected "I never want to have any words or letters replaced" in Words Suggestions in Language and Input. I can see word suggestions on top of Xperia keyboard but I am unable to select the words. The letters below the words gets selected instead. This only happens in phone is held upright (portrait). The selection works when phone is rotated horizontal (landscape).
That leads me to another problem, when in horizontal (landscape), only a slither of the doc avail for editing. The keyboard takes up 2 thirds of the space, and apps tool bar takes the rest of the real estate above that. Hence I almost never input any docs/apps on the Z3 horizontally. Maybe the real estate issue is because I use large font size.
I've had some Word (doc, etc) attachments send to me via email and when i click on it it says 'cannot view attachment'. How do i view them? I have downloaded OpenOffice reader from the Market but can't see how that works.

I notice that if I manually add words to the user dictionary (through the settings menu -> Language & keyboard -> User dictionary -> add), then these words do not appear in the as word suggestions when I am typing. I have my setting set to the default of "substitute letters only" for the slide-out and "automatically correct words" for the on-screen keyboard. Secondly, the automatic word suggestion feature often repeatedly suggests old spelling mistakes to me which is quite annoying. I would like a feature where I can also view, edit and delete words which have been automatically added to the automatic dictionary.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues with DPI change, I used ADB to change the DPI using a simple adb shell wm density 460 && adb reboot, all good, only issue is a few things are.. weird.. For instance the "top apps" icon, little blue thinggy in the playstore is awkwardly big, it's larger then the font, but I didn't use the phone stock so I don't know if that's just how marshmallow is or if that's a dpi problem. I also noticed when loading The Sims FreePlay, the EA boot logo it extremely over scanned, the letters EA barely fit on the screen, the eBay app, the user display picture is cut off and only shows the bottom right corner on an icon that's huge and again over sized, as well as snapchat sending all of my snaps with extremely small font, yet on my screen before sending they look just fine.
So after looking into this further, the build.prop was never changed, it still says dpi 560, but I know for system files I need to mount /system in order to write to it without root. So I booted to recovery as that allows me write access to system, mounted system, says mounted /system at the bottom of the log, open adb, run adb devices, nothing comes up, it's not found, reboot phone, run adb devices, works fine. What's the deal? I can't get the 6p to work from recovery when mounting /system, it says it's mounted but on the computer end nothing is happening.
I also want to keep this phone as stock as possible, kind of a purist douche bag like that so I don't want to run TWRP, or at least I'm not committed to this DPI change being this important that I want a custom recovery.why I can't mount /system in the stock recovery? or rather, why I can mount it but why it's not working?
Just got a replacement device from moto, and I wanted to flash build E for 5.1, I am currently running build E, but when I was flashing the newer build I forgot to have the phone update to 5.0.1, so I jumped from 5.0 straight to 5.1. Should I have updated to 5.0.1 then to 5.1?

Please stay tuned after the question for some remarks.I purchased an HTC Hero months ago from Amazon before I was aware that TELUS was bringing them to Canada. While I love the phone there are a few issues that I would like to address, namely that the there isn't a Canada (English) region to choose when setting up the phone.I have tried my best to search through this and the xda forums, and haven't found out how to correct this. I assume that I will need another ROM, one that has the language/region. Further, I am unable to use 3G on the Fido network, only EDGE and I can't access paid content in the Market, though I think I read somewhere that the EDGE/Market issue is a Fido/Rogers problem (along with the SMS time stamp issue) and there may not be anything I can do for it.
I suppose the big question I have is: what would be missing from this phone that I would want to add in order to take full advantage of the phone?I would also like to thank you all for helping in the past. I have owned several phones (P4000 amongst others) and have always come here to find the answer. Great site and thanks in advance!

I like the idea of just having a dock on the side so when I come home I can just sit it in there and it will be connected to my TV/AV system and charging. I know the MHL link will allow this but don't like having cables all over the place!!!
