So, the chip I use, after the update, is now invalid. I tested it on another phone, and it worked. And I tested a different chip on my NeoV, and it also worked... I wonder why my chip wont work. Will I have to change my chip?

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4 purchased through Vodacom in South Africa, there's no carrier locking associated with it. It's not purchased at a corner shop with a hacked unlock or jailbreak, or anything like that. This is a completely legitimately purchased iPhone bought directly through one of the country's largest cellular providers. I moved to the USA early last year, and bought a Simple Mobile SIM card, which I've been using since that time without any issue. However, after updating to 5.1.1 this morning, the phone gives a "SIM Failure" message, and reads "Invalid SIM" in the top left. I've tried restarting the phone several times, even removing and replacing the SIM card. Do I need to get a new SIM card through Simple Mobile?

If i get an iphone 4, i understand you get a new microSIM chip. but say i want to keep my whatever noniphone lying around as a backup for emergencies, will that old SIM card in that old phone still work? if yes, then does that also mean if i wanted to sell the iphone 4 on ebay, i would be ok? i'm wondering in case we upgrade everyone in the family plan, but not everyone wants an iphone.
