Samsung :: Ringtone Transfer To The Intensity
Mar 10, 2010
I've tried Samsung PC Studio 7 with no luck - it will not recognize my phone. Have changed USB phone settings to Modem as I read in a thread somewhere, still no luck.
I don't have texting, don't use internet on the phone, so I can't email them to the phone.
I was able to transfer mp3's via. the USB cable & sync with Windows Media player, that works great, but I can't get them to set as a ringtone...
Is the only "free" way to put ringtones on this phone is to use a SD card? If so, how is that accomplished?

Just got new Intensity. After activating and playing around with it for awhile, I updated the software through the "Phone Info" menu. This appears to have worked, everything on the phone still works fine, however there is now an "AA" on the middle left side of the home screen. It even rotates to middle left with the screen when you slide out the keyboard. When bringing up Menu's it disappears, but is always back on the home screen when you return. Have tried changing wallpapers, verified that no banners were turned on. Have tried power cycling the phone several times, no luck getting rid of it.

Has anyone figured out how to get stereo sound out of the 2.5 mm jack on a Samsung Intensity? I have obtained several different "stereo" adapters for 3.5 mm headphones, and I still get either mono sound or sound out of only one channel.

I got a samsung intensity and I was wondering how to transfer a image(to be a wallpaper) from the pc to the phone? I tried to use the data cable it came with (the usb cord), and also the samsung pc studio. But I guess I can't figure it out. Also, can I set seperate ringstones for my contacts? I tried, but they are still all the same.

I formatted, then put a couple of songs on it to test it out. The phone recognized and played them, so then I added the rest of my music to the memory card. There's about 14 gb on the card now, so it's almost full. The phone also accurately tells me that there's about 14gb of the memory card that's occupied. BUT The music player now only puts a small portion of all those songs into its playlist, I would say it only plays about 2 gb out of the total 14 gb. I also cannot choose which songs get put on the playlist. I am on Telus, NOT Verizon, by the way. Why can't I access ALL my music in the music player?
Is there a maximum to the number of songs in the mp3 playlist that I wasn't aware of? Did I buy the wrong memory card?

Have tried holding various keys in an attempt to access a BIOS screen or some such thing to no avail (why aren't cell phones more like computers?). As for how my phone got to this state...
-I wanted to add custom ring tones to my recently purchased Samsung Intensity but found that texting them to myself via vzwpix.com led to a significant decrease in quality and the costs would quickly add up as I attempted to fix the issue by editing the sound files in Audacity and texting newer versions to my phone
-To get around using vzwpix.com, I found a method of putting the files directly on the phone by installing the phones drivers to my computer using Samsung PC Studio 3 and moving them directly to the phone using Qualcomm Product Support Tools. The method is copy+pasted below for reference
-After a while I got the ring tone to how I wanted it and went to delete the experimentation files on the phone. I had done this in the past through the phone's interface without issue (though an attempted file rename had caused a quick freeze which was solved by removing and replacing the battery), but this time it froze when attempting to delete the final file
-The phone would not respond to any keypad presses including the power button, so I chose to restart the phone by removing and putting back in the battery
-The phone will no longer pass the "Verizon Wireless" screen and reboots after hanging on that screen for ~7 seconds
Pasted below is the complete method I used to transfer the files for reference. Other smarter methods may exist, but given the issue I had with vzwpix.com, my lack of a mircoSD card, and my desire to avoid media messaging charges I elected to go with this method. Credit goes to ch from the Mobiledia forums for figuring this out and typing this up. It works beautifully aside from the issue I have had. I suggest that anyone who chooses to use it remove sound files from the phone only through QPST and not through the phone's interface.
Software required:
1.Samsung PC Studio
2. QPST (Or other software to allow you to browse the phone's file system)
1. Install Samsung PC Studio (Will only be used to install drivers for the intensity)
2. Change USB Port Map to "Modem" on your phone
a. Go to Settings & Tools > Phone Info > and then press the # button.
b. Enter 000000 for the lock code.
c. Select option 2 "Port Map"
d. Select option 4 "USB"
e. Select option 4 "Modem"
3. Plug phone into usb port.
4. Go to device manager and install drivers for the unidentified devices
a. The drivers will be located in C:Program Files SamsungSamsung PC Studio 3
5. Start QPST EFS Explorer
6. Browse to brewmodmr on the phone
7. Delete MrInfo.db
8. Drag and drop your mp3 ringtone files into this directory
9. Restart the phone.
10. A new MrInfo.db file will be created. Copy it to your desktop.
11. Edit the file with notepad. You should see an entry for each sound file in the directory, followed by |0|0 or something like that. For the first file change the second 0 to a 2. For the next file change that same zero to a 3, and so on. I guess the second zero just needs to be a 2, 3, or 4.
12. Copy MrInfo.db back to the phone in same directory.
13. Reboot the phone and your mp3 will show up under the "My Ringtones" menu.

This phone is so slippery! I can't seem to use it without throwing it on the floor, which I have done about a dozen times now. My other phone was a Motorola with a soft grip rubber built into the case, very easy to hold on to.
What is a solution here? Any recommendations on how to gold on to it? I was thinking of some type of case, maybe a neoprene rubber type that would allow easy access to the buttons/functions, but thought I would ask some folks who may have already experienced this problem.

I just got the Samsung Intensity for Verizon. Everything is great except for one critical thing. I download audibooks from my local library which come as DRM protected WMA files. They play just fine BUT if I exit the music player (to make a call, or just put it away for a while) when I bring it up again, it does not remember its place and goes back to the beginning of the file. This is crippling when you have 72 minute "songs" since you can't be scanning to find your old place every time. With non-protected WMA's even of the same length,it remembers it's place just fine. Also, on my old Samsung Juke it was not a problem. I asked Verizon tech support and they are forwarding my issue to Samsung. I am hoping they will come out with a fix, but they easily could just ignore a complaint from one lone user. Is this a problem that other people have seen? What are the chances that Samsung will actually produce a fix? Is there a workaround to get it to remember its place in a protected WMA?

Having bought and downloaded several albums via the Google Play app I thought they would appear in my music folder but sadly they didnt and I can only access them via the app. Is there a way of transferring them to my music folder so I can in turn use them as a ringtone? If not is there anywhere I can download music from that saves it in the music folder? I asked a guy in Carphone Warehouse and he showed me a site that turned out to be an illegal download site which I would rather not use.

I downloaded a few ringtones for my iPhone and as i tryed to drag them into the Ringtone folder, it wouldnt go.I started reserching and I read all about the .mr4 thing so I know that thing is its impossible to drag the file onto my desktop... Why does Apple have to make things so difficult.. Why issnt it possible to do the most logic thing, simply drag the file into the ringtone folder?i have had iPhones for years now, and everytime i want to do something that is so simple to do on anyother phone int he universe, it feels like getting a razor wire enima when i have to do it on apple productes. and its suppose to be so simple and everything, but a ringtone i have to drag out to my desktop and delete it from my itunes then rename the file format and add it back in?.in what world is that easy?.. on top of that, i cant even do it.

Just got the Samsung Corby Pro through Rogers- tried to use a home-made recording mp3 as a ringtone. The mp3 loaded and plays fine in the phone but when I tried to set it as a ringtone- the message "unsupported file type" comes up.
The other ringtones that the phone comes with are all mp3 as well- just wondering what I need to do to turn my own mp3 into the "supported" file type for ringtone use.

i decided to go Cricket and got this Samsun U340. I downloaded one ringtone fine but now it keeps saying i already downloaded the others i tried to grab. I tried multi sites so it has to be the phone. It says i can replace it or cancel but only thing it shows/can do is hit cancel. I know this phone is not super great but until i get another i am stuck with it. I like to put a few decent tones and a couple wallpapers and would be happy. The wallpaper problem is it shows the image only. There is no option to save it in web browser or gmail email. I tried email with attachment and a hyperlink. I went in menu to see if i can save it but nothing. I used cell phones for about 5 years with non prepaid services. This is the first prepaid i used and wow it is sure limited. If anyone can help me and used this cell and got it to work would be great.

And if that freak of a moderator puts my post in a thread where it does not belong 1 more time, I'll pout. LOL But really now Stop putting everybodies post under wrong phones/problems, we will never receive help that way.
