View 7 RepliesThis is my first post and I'm new to the Galaxy S2. I took ownership of a new phone early this week (S2) and did the firmware upgrade over Kies - this seemed to make sense given that it was the official latest release firmware.
I tried to use BBC iPlayer last night. The first time I ran it, it said I needed Flash. It took me to the market and I downloaded Adobe Flash 11.0. I tried iPlayer again. All the menus, navigation etc work, but when I select a program it doesn't show any video. I don't even get the little triangle to click on to play it. I went to the iPlayer website and tried viewing from there - I assume that uses Flash as well, and all worked fine, video and sound.
Just bought S2. First smart phone; choose the S2 rather than iPh.
Live just outside London and would like to use my S2 to play programs provided on BBC iPlayer. My S2 came with a BBC iPlayer icon available straight out of the box. When I click the bbc iplayer icon it displays a program that the bbc iPlayer site is promoting (the Graham Norton show in this instance). Firstly I'd like to play any program from iPlayer but when for example I click on Graham Norton show nothing happens but a message shows on the s2 (within the BBC app) stating "Please switch to Wi-Fi connection to play this program" - note: from the settings screen on the S2 I have wi-fi set on (I am also at home, where other devices are using my home wi-fi).
if/how I can play bbc iplayer on my S2
So as things are perfect and smiley in the world, the way to make your day complete is to drop your brand new samsung galaxy s2 from a pathetically small height and watch as the whole screen shatters to bits. Enough to put anyone in a great mood.Fixing the screen isn't the problem though. 02 have agreed to fix it for me, for a small fee, but they have confirmed that the whole phone will be flashed before hand. This is not good. I have a lot of memories on the phone that i would like back.I have connected the phone to samsung keis, however, since the screen locked, the dam thing won't let me in to my own data. Understandably this is to ensure absolutle security to your sh** but I can't help wondering why samsung didn't install an option that allows you to unlock the phone from your computer. really need some help figuring out how I can get my sh** back. If anyone knows how to bypass the screen lock or just refresh it. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. I'm not in a great rush since my mum refuses to pay for the fix. and it'll take me a few weeks to save up.i can't unlock the phone because i can't see the screen and i think the touch pad is bust as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy password comes on too quick once the screen has gone off. How do i delay this as its very annoying to keep having to enter my password after i leave it for a minute or so. Best phone i have every had and i have had every phone there is!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had the fingerprint lock in place since I got my phone.
Yesterday the screen lock disabled by itself and no password was needed to get on phone. In addition, the Unlock effect "Water droplet" turned on.
I have a Samsung S6 Edge. Every time I turn on GPS, either High Accuracy or Battery Saver.. whenever I lock my phone... i lose that GPS signal. Everytime time I wake it back up or unlock it..i will see a "searching for location", then a "location found". This happens for ALL application, Google Maps, Verizon Navigotor, MapMyRun, etc. This is very frustrating as I use these apps all the time and I cant keep my phone 'unlocked' as then the screen is active and I would accidently click things.
ADDITIONALLY, after using the GPS, I will then shut off the location feature and then my phone will continually say "searching for location", even with location off. I close all my current applications etc.. and it still says searching. This message does not go away until i turn back on location or restart my phone.
When I go to location settings, i see "recent location requests" of "Google Play services" and Location Services of "Google Location History".. that is it!
I am about to the point of wiping out my phone and starting over. (which i dont want to do). I have not battery saver or app killers downloaded on my phone so that cant be it.
Just recently I started getting game ads on my app lock screen and I don't know why this has happened. I downloaded the All-in-one-toolbox and the ad-detect and I was wondering when I go to the ad-detect, do I have to uninstall of the app's with ad's on them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried turning off the screen lock pattern recognition by Settings -> Location and security and making sure Use visible pattern is unchecked ...
but the screen still locks and when I try to unlock it it shows the patern recognition dots .
I somehow managed to change my screenlock password, it used to be a four-digit code.I had the phone in my pocket for a while and after that I can't get in.s there anything I can do besides reseting to factory settings? If I connect the phone to my computer I can't reach any data on the phone so I can't save pictures and stuff like that so I'm not very keen on reseting the whole thing. read somewhere that I might be able to use my gmail-account but I don't have that option. When I type in the wrong password five times it just says I have to wait for 30 seconds. Over and over again..
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I change the style of the lock screen from swiping the the picture to maybe something else, is it possible?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes it shows the temperature correctly, but most of the time it just shows 0.0C.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI changed my background recently and stupidly ticked the "don't ask me to change the background on the lock screen again" box that appears when you change it.
Is there a way to get this back as I now want to change the lock screen background.
Is it possible to have anything other than the clock on the Lockscreen, an you have a widget on there or something?and Secondly:I'm not too sure if this is the right way to go about this but being a bit of a novice with respect to smart phones I'm open to other suggestions.I'm off on holiday soon and want to take a few audiobooks with me. So what I thought was that I create a Folder on my Home screen called Holiday Books and stick in the audiobooks that I want to take with me.
Q1) How do I put the (MP3) audiobooks into this Holiday Books folder?
Q2) How do I associate a particular music player with the audiobook files as I don't use the music player provided on the phone?
I cant change my screen lock setting (either to swipe, pattern or finger print), currently it is in pin setting. It shows disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyway, last night I set my alarm as I normally do before bed and this morning I over slept by a disgusting amount because somehow all of my apps had spontaneously crashed while I was asleep! The force close notification kept coming up for a number of different applications before I was forced to simply turn it off. When I turned it on again a few seconds later, most of my settings had been wiped along with much of the data kept on the actual phone memory. Some stuff was still there, like all my apps, my connections and passwords, but my home screen was defaulted, as were my message tone, ring tone and input settings. Also gone were any phone numbers I had stored on the phone itself as well as all of my inbox messages.
So, I went into the settings to put my screen lock back on because I noticed that had been reset, too. I did the normal routine, picked the pattern, confirmed it and so on. But after I put my phone down and locked the screen, when I picked it back up again and pressed the home key to activate the screen, it was just unlocked. I didn't have to input the unlock pattern. However, when I went back into the settings to make sure they were all okay, it made me enter the unlock pattern to get into it! How odd.
I wanted to disable the peel remote from my lock screen, not my notification panel, but just my lock screen. I understand that there should be a option to do so, but it doesn't appear for me, the only option is to disable the remote from notification panel and lock screen, but I wanna keep it for the notification panel.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep pressing the power button whilst holding the phone. Is it possible to disable power button? Also why is there a long space/gap? like the above when I type
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I lock my SGS II i would expect all the buttons to lock! However the power button function remain active and its far too easy to accidently power off my phone or set it into flight mode.Does anyone know how to disable this "feature" ??
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the new Android, 2.3.4 while using ActiveSync to connect to my corporete email on Exchange Server ... A corporete policy gets pushed to my phone and I need to accept it. OK, no problem ... I accept it, but the Lock screen settings ( under Settings -> Location And Security -> Change Lock Screen ) only allows the "Password" option, saying the other options,e.g. the PIN way is remotely disabled by administrator, although that is NOT the case. I've double checked with our system admins on this.Our system admins are NOT forcing the "Password" option ... they're OK with just using the PIN, and I had it like that, in the old 2.3.3 version !For this setup ... this will display the long PASSWORD for lock-screen, instead of just a PIN which is what I prefer to to use instead:
* Android 2.3.4
* gingerbread.xwki4 on Samsung Galaxy S2
* Exchange 2007 sp3
This policy is NOT forced by our admins, since this is the policy:Here are my complete Password tab settings on the server, so you can see the admins are NOT requesting this long password ( PIN is enough! ):
Require Password - checked Require alphanumeric password - unchecked <--- attention, this is UNCHECKED.
Enable password recovery - checked
Require encryption on the device - checked
[code].....
But with this update, you need the following for the unlock screen of ActiveSync for Exchange Server:6 letters, and one number in the previous version ( 2.3.4 ) you needed 6 letters, TWO numbers and one sign I want to be able to use ONLY 4 letters PIN, as it is allowed on our network, as you can see in our policy just pasted above in this thread!
I read several places in connection with the new 2.3.5 update it will be possible to separate screen time-out time from screen lock time. So that you screen would go dark after fx. 15 seconds and lock after 60 seconds
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am dissatisfied with the speed of my SGSII. It is rooted (still with the yellow triangle) and everything else works OK. However, I can't find a meny where I can lock the phone to 3G. I only have EDGE which gives me very low speeds.
Do I need to get rid of the triangle first? I haven't quite figured out how to do that despite many items in the discussions - which kernel do I use, whereto do I download it with ODIN? Is there a country specific kernel to use (Sweden for me)?
I have set my securtiy pin number I know what it is but want to turn it off so I do not have one at all.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI configured my office emailbon S5 and I was asked to encrypt android...so I did.
Now that I have removed the account I still had to enter the 6 digit pin code to unlock the screen...
How I can disable this pin lock
I have upgraded my SGS2 to 2.3.6 last month, but noticed this issue in the last couple of weeks or so.When I press the phone lock key (which is on the right side) the phone is going to idle mode (screen goes black) but when I press the home key or lock key again, I can see that my phone is not locked.

View 1 Replies View Relatedusing n8 with hdmi out (have big screen app installed) to use bbc iplayer (basically a web-based real video app, similar to Internet, but allows you to "catch-up" with previously aired bbc tv programmes in the uk).
i've started using my n8 upstairs, on my bedroom tv - so currently have no lan connections, and my n8 is the only way to watch programmes on iplayer around the house (can use my wii console for this purpose in the lounge).connectivity all seems to work ok, and manage to pair a spare wii controller to the phone to control it (big screen app functionality?).
the one thing i'm curious / concerned about is what's on my phone screen whilst watching iplayer on my tv over hdmi. normally you use the break-out / fullscreen option when watching iplayer on tv, so on my phone's screen, all the while i'm watching something, there's a web page in landscape, with a black box (about 1/3 of the screen size) of the video that's playing on the tv.
1. will this cause any damage, "burn-in" or overuse of my phone's screen to watch programmes on my tv for a couple of hours? have to say i'm not that up-to-date with usage best practices or things to avoid with things like amoled screens, just vaguely remember some concerns with plasma or lcd tv displays.
2. is there any way to blank my phone's screen whilst watching this app (bbc iplayer) on my tv? if i use the lock-key, the app stops / pauses.
I forget my Samsung Galaxy S5 pattern lock. So. I can not use my phone. How can I remove pattern lock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the first time since the v50 update I tried to use BBC iplayer (on 5800), which now seems to work - through native browser now, even though the widget is separate. Accessing archived stuff worked fine, but when I tried to use it for live streaming I got the sound but the screen stayed grey (I was on wifi at the time). Is this the BBC still preventing access (as they used to) or is there another issue here?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis has only started to happen today since I agreed to a system update. I have tried a factory reset and wiped the cache but it is still happening.
