Nokia :: Software Updater - Shows Error " Unable To Retrieve Device Information "

I have some software problem with my Nokia E71 . SO i decided to update my mobile Software. so i downloaded NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER V2.5 en . After that when i start it shows error that :" Unable to retrieve device information " and shows 4 suggetion that remove battry and like that.. I had do all this things. but till it doesnt starts. i have also tries this softwre in windows XP SP3 and windows 7. But same probelm in both . When i connect myu phone with my pc then PC SUIT turn on and it shows that your mobile is connected but NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER can't . . So what i do now?

This is the error I get each time I try to run Maps Updater.Underneath it says "Unspecified error [1]"
The website tells me I can update to Ovi maps so I've installed Ovi Suite, got all the firmware and software updates, follow the instructions to download and install Maps Updater.First it seems to object to another version of map loader or maps updater running, so I close Ovi Suite and its OK then it gets the next error in th title here.
Error Cannot get enough information about the phone[3]..I've tried this multiple times and still no progress.

After received my phone from Nokia care in Cairo "EGYPT", I found my phone firmware (32.001) and custom version 32.001053.1; I tried several times to install new version of Nokia OVI maps but the message about "Maps Updater Error Cannot get enough information n about the phone[3 ]" appeared. I saw the tickets about E75 and the sis file for OVI map 3.01 installed but get error update in phone display.

I have unsolved problem until now. I have Nokia 5630 (buy in Czech Republic), I updated to latest firmware 012.020 and after that I canīt connected with Nokia maps updater (it shows the announcement like topic - see attached file). I try hard to reset and many, many things but without positive results. Is it this problem solvable?I want to use Nokia maps and I donīt. I want to buy Nokia GPS module but it is useless in this time. It must be any solution from Nokia company.

After having my E71 for over year and a half I decided to update the software for the first time. I backed all the stuff and downloaded nokia software updater. When I started software it found my device and the update. Then it downloaded the software and started to updating. My screen turned black and etc. In the middle of the update, about 5 min in to it, I got an error message saying that connection with my device got lost and it suggested that I turn on the device and start it again. Which I did. When I turned it on and tried again I was getting the same message that connection with my device was lost. I exit the nokia software updater and tried it again and since then updater is unable to find my device. FIY, when I connect my device with USB I get the following modes: PC Suite, Mass Storage, Media transfer, Connect PC to web.I choose PC Suite.

I read allot of posts and tried allot of solutions but untill now none worked for me
i use windows 7 ultimatie 64 bit, installed the ovi suite and the nokia software updater.
then why i try to update the device software it says the phone is not connected, when i then reconnect the phone i can press continue but immediatly after that its says its not connected again. even though the ovi store has it still connected and i can browse the phone from the pc aswell.. I tried different usb ports, i tried it on an win xp machine ( with same results ).
Currently my n97 had software version 1.2 i believe, when i use the phone itself to update it says no updates available.. i dont know whats wrong, because other then the update everything works normal.

after hard reset,3.0 map version changed to 2.0 map version.I tried to download maps 3.0 via maps updater but it appears on screen: cannot get enough information about the phone,unspecified error.Please help me solve this problem.

I just bought my E52 yesterday and its a great phone, I love it . It came with FW version 021.013, but I've read online that this version might make some troubles. Cos' of that, I initiated the software updater within SoftWare updater, and updated to 031.012, but when it rebooted, after the update progress, firstly it showed "Update successful", and after I clicked OK it showed "System error" but still continued to function.
The phone now functions like a dream with no problems at all despite that "Sys err" message from before. Now, when I access the software updater, it shows an exclamation (!) mark beside the "Phone software" item. The "Phone software" item shows that its software version 031.012, but when I click Options > Star update (with "Phone software" marked) it does noting and returns to the list i.e. in Software updater.
This really bugs me out. Any clue to what might be cosing this and any idea about fixing it ?

I am updating my N900 using Nokia Software Updater. It stops at a certain point (at 6.3MB) and then shows error message of slow connectivity.
Inspite of good connectivity, When I try again it resumes from 6.3MB and immediately throws the error. I tried reinstalling NSU but didn't help.Is there any way to clear cache of NSU?

My E71 is 300.21.012 18-06-2009 RM-346 Nokia E71-1(350.02).Upon using Nokia software Updater its says firmware up to date and no new firmware available.But i know new version 400.21.013 is out there.How can i update.Does anyone have similar issues.

I have just reinstalled the firmware on my N95 ( via Ovi Suite, product code 0534851 - V. 35.0.002 ). Next, i wanted to update my Maps platform, because this firmware still has the classic Nokia Maps 2.0, and the Ovi Map Loader says i need to update to Ovi Maps 3.0 in order to download the maps. So, I installed the Nokia Maps Updater 1.0.12 (the latest, i suppose. i've just downloaded from the nokia website), I exited the Ovi Suite, started the Maps Updater, and i get this error: "Cannot get enough information about the phone [3].Unspecified error [1]." Tried it on a friend's E51 and same error.

I yesterday installed Nokia Software Updater 2.5.2 (LATEST) on my PC Running-
Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit build 7600
No ovi suite installed.
I had some problems in my new software V50 of Nokia 5800. I tried to reinstall the firmware but there is no option to reinstall as earlier versions of NSU had.
But in help file of that NSU(5.2.5) it is written that-:''After the phone has been detected and identified and the update information checked, Nokia Software Updater displays a summary on the PC screen. If you want to continue updating your phone software, click the Update button. It is also possible to reinstall the same software version that is already in the phone.Now what do I do as in my NSU there is no option to Reinstall?

Nokia have finally updated 5800 FW but i am unable to download it because the NSU isn't working correctly. Everytime I open the program I get the message;
"Nokia Software Updater has attempted to connect to the internet but has failed three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow or intermittent internet connection, or restrictions due to a firewall.
If requested by your firewall, Nokia Software Updater needs the following applications to gain access to the internet:
nsl_host_process.exe
nsu_u_clienti.exe" The program will then close down.
I have a good, steady internet connection (10mb) and all firewalls are off. I have done some searches on this issue but I was wondering if a solution was found for the problem?

I installed Nokia Chat from Ovi store on my phone. When I start the chat, I am shown an option "Get the latest IM service"
When I click this option, I see "Checking for new IM updates" .It keeps checking for updates for a min or so then I get a message 'Error: Unable to complete request. Try Again"
I have a proper wifi and so its not a connectivity issue. Previously I have used Nokia chat and I had all services(gtalk,yahoo etc) but recently I had to format the phone, so had to install chat again.
Can anyone help me with this issue ? How can I get this chat to work ? if there a newer version available which I can install directly rather than looking for services.

I know there is no way in contacting blackberry support without paying with money i dont have.. But am hoping that some blackberry profesionals actualy go on the forums sometimes.Firstly is there anyway to contact someone who really knows something about the device. correct me if im wrong but if we could talk to the people who made the device they would for sure know exactly wat is wrong with the device and be a huge help.

I took my phone into apple today as it was broken, I was still under warrenty so knew i would be given a new handset so ensured i backed all my pictures and contacts on itunes. I have got home and spent all night trying to put everything back onto my new phone, but my pictures and contacts don't seem to be there. Instead it added all the pictures off my laptop and not from my previous handset
I'm not bothered about my contacts but there are some pictures that i would be really upset to lose of my nephew.

I decided it might be a good idea to update the software on my blackberry since I haven't checked in probably almost a year. So I plug it in, Desktop tells there's an update for BB Desktop so I decide to update that first, downloaded, installed, done. Next I see an update for the Blackberry (Tour 9630) device, so I click update. Then it tells me I need the latest version of Desktop again (wtf?). So I click update Desktop (again) and then it starts installing packages.

I seem to have lost some contact information. Though many of my contacts are still intact, others no longer show a secondary phone number I once entered, or some contacts seem to have disappeared completely.The strange thing is, when I dial one of the "lost" numbers manually, the contact's name does show up! But I can't find it in the list of contacts. I have already checked and unchecked the Business and Personal options in the filter menu, but that didn't do the trick.Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?note: this problem is not my own - I'm asking for a friend of mine

Why my Phonebook shows other person information (name, picture, email, etc) as myself? When I tried to remove/edit, it says that "Timescape Plug-in Manager contact information is not editable for this device".
How can I remove that person details so that my contact details including name, picture (sync with facebook), contact number will be appear again?

Is there an app that can retrieve caller ID information even when call ID isn't set up with a service provider? Even when I get a call that's in my phone book, it just displays 'unknown'. This is annoying but I don't want to pay yet another fee to my provider.
