I keep getting the following message when using the new Ovi Maps Navigation - Connection to network positioning server required. Costs may be incurred. If I say no then I can continue and get the free navigation as advertised, but is there any way of stopping this message coming up?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading my phone to Anna, I am no longer getting GPS locks under AGPS at all. Previously, I had no trouble acquiring these locks.I did look at positioning methods and chose the right home network settings (set to NO) and I have created new server supl.google.com in addition to supl.nokia.com but to no avail... There is no choice for selecting an access point for these positioning servers, so I'm not sure if the data requests for positions are getting through at all...I installed LeGPSData and can see that there are 10-12 satellites in view but none in use.. The GPS locking problem seems to affect Ovi Maps, Google Maps or Viewranger... basically any tool that depends on Nokia's AGPS implementation......

Since, I haven't managed to find my position by using either A-GPS or by the cell that I was in.With the Ovi maps that I had before, the phone was able to position me on the map, based on the gsm/3g cell that I was in in a matter of seconds. Also, it was able to get a GPS fix in a few tens of seconds, probably based on A-GPS.Now the GPS positioning is very slow and working only in open air. Does anybody have a solution to this problem?

The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"

1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture?
2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this?
3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
After the last update (v50) on my nokia xpressmusic 5800 I have no longer access to my internet connection thru WLAN. It shows the error message "Invalid Server Name". My router (DLink WBR1310) uses WEP encryption. How do I solve this problem? Should a hard reset fix this problem?

If I do refresh I get a brown banner at the top with "Cannot connect to emote server". This has happened after using it once to plan my first trip. Since then this is all I get. I can sync from Nokia 5800XM. I've filled in the Ovi Maps Help - Customer Support but have had no reply or help other than an automated reply. As a consequence it is rather difficult to plan any routes and use any favourites on the phone. Its possible but not as easy as on-line

Today, I can not get any map downloading properly started. I'd really need to get maps of Italy installed soon.I'm using the lastest Ovi Suite (downloaded and installed yesterday) and N95 8GB. I am having problems with my email in my 5800 can anyone help?it has worked perfectly since I had it until January when it suddenly decided to download every email I have ever kept on my server (several hundred) I then had a fiddle with the settings and now once it picks up my emails and I've looked at them it automatically deletes them from the phone and the server without asking even though I've checked the 'always ask button' I have lost several very important documents this way. I have previously not had this problem in fact when I deleted e-mails before this problem and hit the 'delete from phone and server' the e-mail still remained in my home computer. I have gone through all the settings on the phone many times and cannot see why this should be happening.

Every time I start it, it gives an error message "Connection to the map server has been interrupted. Had Nokia maps 3.01 and the compass was enabled in "MY POSITION" where we could either have it align north or align according to the route we take.Now downloaded maps 3.03, but the compass is stuck with the map facing north. Any amount of tapping on the compass is of no use. I went thru the manual and it says that we need to tap on the compass to either align the compass to the direction of travel, but it is of no use... When using either Drive to or Walk to function, the map is aligned to the direction of travel, but when we stop navigation, the compass is stuck back again facing north.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Downloaded and installed ovi maps 3.03 but when i'm trying to open the program it shows startup screen and closes automaticly. Tried to uninstall it and install once more, restore phone to factory settings, but the same problem. Previous version (not free) of ovi maps is working fine on my phone. The same problem on my friends phone nokia 5230. Both phones are in bought in Latvia, not locked with any operator and have dafault nokia firmware, not any specific operator software. But if previous wersion worked on my phone then the new version must work too, i think so, but it's not working

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe GPS feature and Nokia Maps icon in the menu would suggest that the Nokia 5800 supports maps. My aim is to transfer maps onto the phone's memory card so I will not require an internet connection to use the feature. In Nokia PC Suite, clicking Maps takes me to a page that tells me to download Nokia Ovi Suite. I won't bore you with a rant on how bad my experience Ovi Suite is (it is terrible), but the end result is that clicking download on a map appears to transfer it to the phone, but no maps appear on the phone.
I recall there used to be a separate piece of software that allowed downloading and transferring of maps, but I cannot find it. Nokia appear to have removed it from the website, which is a shame, because it worked.
Is there a piece of software that is able to transfer maps to the 5800. Failing that, is there a way to transfer maps manually?
Just installed the free ovi maps on my 5800. The maps are out of date. My estate was built in 2001 and doesn't show on the maps. I also have Google maps on my 5800 and maps and photo of my estate are there. Even my 3 year old navman in-car shows my estate. Mmmm free and oout of date. I'll stick to Google maps.

However, when I go to maps on my phone, the GPS and satellites are working fine, but I can not see any maps appearing on my phone - just a grey/pale green background appears instead of the maps. Only if I zoom all the way out, then the world globe starts to appear, and then disappears as I try to zoom back in.

So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions.
1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC?

Now I'm becoming crazy and maybe someone can give me some explanation. I tried to download the maps with the Map Loader, I can see on the left part of the window a lot of maps, but I do not se any info on which map is already installed ! Is it normal? And moreover, I'm not convinced by the amount of memory left on my SD card, the map loader show an amount and Windows a competely different.. who's lying?
