Nokia :: E52 Connection To Ovi Maps Server Times Out
Jun 24, 2010
I've been having a lot of problems downloading individual country maps using the Ovi Suite. Occasionally it works, but 95% of the time, the download seems to start ("Preparing") but after a few minutes, I get the following error message: "Connection timeout
The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out.Try again."
System: Windows 7, Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241. My internet connection is fine.
Phone: E52, Ovi Maps v. 3.03
The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"
Is there some general known issue presently with the maps server? Yesterday, I hardly got anything loaded because the connection was dropped every now and then. Today, I can not get any map downloading properly started. I'd really need to get maps of Italy installed soon.I'm using the lastest Ovi Suite (downloaded and installed yesterday) and N95 8GB. I can get the country list to Ovi Suite application, but when starting the actual download, there is always just "Connection time out, The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out, Try again".So, is it just me or is there something somebody should fix on server side?
I have downloaded latest map loader ver. 3.0 from nokia website and it is not running. Every time I start it, it gives an error message "Connection to the map server has been interrupted. Make sure that your internet connection is working and retry. if you are still unable to download, try again later". Everything is fine with my connection. All softwares on phone and ovi suite are updated to latest versions. please help me in this.
I am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.
Then if I click on the Favourites tab I get "Error occurred. Please refresh the panel" in the left-hand panel. No favourites show. If I do refresh I get a brown banner at the top with "Cannot connect to emote server". This has happened after using it once to plan my first trip. Since then this is all I get. I can sync from Nokia 5800XM. I've filled in the Ovi Maps Help - Customer Support but have had no reply or help other than an automated reply. As a consequence it is rather difficult to plan any routes and use any favourites on the phone. Its possible but not as easy as on-line
I keep getting the following message when using the new Ovi Maps Navigation - Connection to network positioning server required. Costs may be incurred. If I say no then I can continue and get the free navigation as advertised, but is there any way of stopping this message coming up?
Reinstalled Map Loader 3.0 many times as well as map updater. Neither of them are working at the moment for some reason. I recently did a format on my phone and it wiped all the programmes clean and bumped me back to factory loaded Nokia Maps 2 for my E71. Now I ran map updater and got the error "Connection to Map Server Interrupted" etc etc. Dug around and found a OVI Map 3 installer they used for macs fixed that. Now Map Loader won't work either, returns with cannot load catalogue. I've got maps before like a year ago, whats up now? I've tried on both my computers and the other virtually has 0 security. The router is fine nothing should be blocking it. Tried it on another internet connection and nothing is working.
I've had my E72 for a couple of months now and I usually surf facebook and other sites using my wireless internet connection from my home. Today I've tried to get onto it and it will not load any page and keeps saying 'invalid server name'. I've never seen this message. I cannot go to any website, and I've tried several.
I need help with the messaging -> email. I tried to set up personal email on my Nokia N97. I tried using Yahoo but it doesn't work. Then I tried using hotmail and it worked fine (but my hotmail is full of spam so I want to get my Yahoomail to work). It said that I have the username or password wrong. Could someone tell me what to type in?
1. Messaging->Option->Setting->E-mail->Mailboxes->Option->New Mail Box->Start-> 2. Email->Use my email address-> 3. Email Address: <yahooid>@yahoo.com 4. Password: <Password> 5. Then it said this "Email setting defined. Setting can be viewed and edited in POP3/IMAP4 application. Mail forwarding may need to be activated from your email account for mailbox setting to work". (Does that means anything? is there something I need to do with my email?) 5.OK 6.Option->Connect-> 7.Mailbox user name -> (is this the ID or the whole thing +@yahoo.com?) 8. Then the same passwords
I tried using both with @yahoo.com and without @yahoo.com it still says connection refused by server, check username and password (I am sure everything is right, because I tried to log onto my yahoo server).
I have a Nokia 5800xm, I use ovi maps mostly off-line but every time I search or turn ovi maps on it keeps asking me for a connection?can someone please help me, its very annoying
I came across a weird problem with online connection. I use a Nokia X6 (16GB) + external bluetooth GPS receiver for faster and more accurate positioning. When I open MAPS and I have bluetooth GPS ON it's impossible to connect to online services like weather, michelin, OVI placemarks sync.It seems the app can't handle a BT and WiFi connection at the same time. Most of the time it can't connect and some times ti crashes. If I turn BT GPS OFF then connection is normal.
No Internet connection in ovi maps, though web works without problems. Program settings/navigation is configured to proper access point. But ovi maps connects to other access point which doesn`t work.
I have just downloaded the latest version of Ovi Maps 3.03 for my Nokia E55. Navigation seems to be working fine, however whenever choosing any functionality which requires the program to go online, it fails with the following error message:"Something went wrong and the connection failed. Please try again" Has anybody got an idea, how this can be fixed? Is this a known bug?
Before I went to Spain I downloaded the maps of a part of spain and switched of automatic connection to the internet (Allways ask). For the determination of the location only the internal gps is switched on. I don't want any roaming connection to internet during my stay in Spain.Starting OVI maps pops-up immediately the question for a connection to GPRS which I canceled. It is, if a connection is made to GPS, possible to find my possition but finding a route to a address doesn't work. All I get is the question to connect to GPRS and if I canceled that nothing happens, in other words it was not possible to search for a location / planning a route.Do I something wrong or is this standard behaviour of OVI maps?
My phone/GPS usage does not justify spending $30/month ($360/year) on a data plan.My E66 with the originally installed Nokia Maps will display my real-time current position on US maps without any data connection. This works just fine to me in the US. However I want to add Belgium and England to my map set.Question 1: Will I lose any existing functionality if I install Ovi Maps? Does Ovi Maps require a data connection to track your current position? Question 2: Are there any easier ways to do what I want to do (add Belgium and England to my map set so that I can find my current position as I can do with US maps).
I'd like to use Ovi Maps without any SIM card inserted. But I fail to obtain "green bars" and GPS fix. With my sim inserted (and the internet connexion available), I don't face any problem using Maps as I get the fix in 3 seconds.
I found that even if I set Ovi maps to "offline", it still sends and receives packet data while the gps is in use. I started a route and after stopping it, I checked the "Log' and I can see more data send and received recorded. I do not have a data plan and would like to know if I am incurring charges in this case. I have a-gps and gps set, so I'm guessing these packets might be due to a-gps? Without a-gps and with gps alone the performance will be pretty bad, right? I have t-mobo and nokia 5230.
It happens very often that Nokia Maps can not reconnect after loosing GPS connection(for example in tunnels)The only way to restart the navigation mode is stop the program and restart it. Therefore the application can not be used as professional navigation solution.
Since installing the new free Maps app, my GPS has failed to work properly. It has no problem getting a good strong fix in "GPS data" and works just fine in my Sports Tracker app, but when I open Ovi Maps, the GPS meter shows alternating pairs of red and gray bars. It seems to get my initial location right, but the centre cursor fades to a dim pink does not move. I've tried to remove Ovi Maps, thinking that perhaps reinstalling it would do the trick, but my attempts to remove it have failed.
Hi have a X6 and loaded ovi maps, worked fine when I had a 3G data connection. now when i dont have one the GPS seems to not work. DO I need a 3G or wifi for it to work or does it work as a stand alone without any data connection.
I recently bought a 5230 on a talk mobile monthly contract and I'v had a few connection problems. First of all I can't check for updates for my phone or the software on it. I just get an error message which says 'connection error'.Similarly with Maps it simply won't connect to the internet saying 'something went wrong with the connection, please try again'.The other internet accessing functions of the phone, like the browser and ovi store etc, work fine. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
For the past few weeks the Maps program will not connect to the internet. It will bring up the local wifi that is available and say that the connection has failed. But all other uses of the internet are perfectly fine. Tried restarting. Firgured next step is to reinstall the whole thing but wanted to see if there was a solution that comes before that whole bit.
I tried to update my maps definition by checking on Ovi Suite on my PC via USB. Some updated maps were available, but during the update, I've lost the connection with USB. From now, there is no "cities" folder on E: and Ovi Suite can't upload new maps. So I have Ovi maps working but without any Maps ! It says my memory card is full, but there is 28Go available!
1. Can I see what country maps I have downloaded & saved on my N97 anywhere? 2. Whenever I went on the internet with my N95, I had a option how I wished to connect - my netgear router or Mobile web etc.
With N97, It chooses which one I have set on priority, but sometimes I dont want that one. Can I have it so that it asks me everytime I connect like N95?
Nokia Maps app cannot connect to the internet. It remains in the offline mode. On trying connecting to internet connection failed is displayed. How could I make nokia maps online?
When downloading maps to my phone with Ver.3.0 Maps Loader, part 1/2 works fine, but at part 2/2, i get this "connection to medium storage interrupted. Attach your storage medium and retry" error at 85.1% everytime (i've tried several times).
Some info:
- I have ver.3.0 Maps on my phone.
- I've also tried updating the firmware and its up-to-date.
- I'm using a 8Gb memory card so it can't be lack of space.
Very often I lose my blacjberry connection (means that the blackberry symbol near 3G is missing) It occurs often when I use google maps, and now when I use bb app world 2.0 ..Seems like when the data amount is too high, connection is lost. I only can get it back by disabling 3G signal and enabling it again ..
I don't know why it does it, I had no problem with my bold 9000, but since I changed to 9700 I also changed my phone operator..Or maybe It's due to my faceplate change and I screwed myself not moving certain parts to the new faceplate..
I recently upgraded to a Bold 9650 with Sprint.I have BES for work, but am using the Internet Browser and can access the internet just fine.I am also able to use Google Maps just fine. When I try to use Blackberry Maps, I just get grey lines (no data downloaded). My GPS appears to work fine, as the app can find satellites and my location it just does not download/draw the maps. When I try a search for either a zip code or a city, I get a message that says "Request to server failed". I have deleted and reinstalled Blackberry Maps without resolution.I have also deleted the Blackberry Maps service book, but that did not resolve the issue either (it reappears after restart, so I assume it has re-downloaded a new service book). I have also contacted my company's IT, and they confirmed that the company does not block Blackberry Maps through the BES. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my Blackberry Maps to communicate with the server? Could this be an issue with the WiFi or SIM (since Sprint is CDMA)? I have found similar issues online, but none with Sprint and none with a successful resolution.
We have two Z2 tablets and for the last 48 hours have not been able to connect to the server www.sony.net. It is not a WiFi problem - other devices in the house are OK eg Apple iPad. WiFi checker shows a 5.2 error. The sony.net website is accessible on my PC (interesting to note that their Recent News Release page makes no mention of their troubles with the North Koreans!)
