I tried to update my maps definition by checking on Ovi Suite on my PC via USB. Some updated maps were available, but during the update, I've lost the connection with USB. From now, there is no "cities" folder on E: and Ovi Suite can't upload new maps. So I have Ovi maps working but without any Maps ! It says my memory card is full, but there is 28Go available!
View 7 RepliesOne thing has been bugging me lately, namely I can't locate the cities folder anymore when I browse the memory card with PC Suite FileManager. Has it changed its place or what has happened? I don't see it on phone internal memory either. I have downloaded the maps for the whole world, and several voice files. Earlier I could always see the cities folder, not anymore.Nokia E66 (actually two), one has OVI Maps 3.01 while the other has 3.03. I don't think I've seen cities folder in either, but right now I can check it only with OVI Maps 3.01. The qf file can be found in the root, though. The memory card in both is Nokia's MU-44 16Gb memory card.
On the other hand, PC Suite Map Loader, as well as OVI Map Loader, seem to detect there are maps in the phone, and they also let me delete the maps from there.OVI Maps (3.01 and 3.03) is working in both phones, also in offline mode. The only exceptional thing I can think of is that I have downloaded the maps to both phones with PC Suite (Map Loader), not OVI Suite. This is simply because with OVI Suite map loader there always seem to be connection problems with downloading. But like said, OVI Suite also detects the maps on the phone.This wouldn't matter otherwise, but when I decide to re-download some maps, I'd rather delete the cities folder completely and the qf file manually, than trusting Map Loaders slower "delete all maps" function.
By some mistake I deleted the datacache file and the voice files which were there in the cities folder of Nokia 6303,as I thought they were taking a lot of memory space.Then I came to know through this portal that those were system files not meant to be deleted. Now where or how can I get those files back so that I can use my maps application smoothly.Even if I don't get those files back into my cell, will they hamper the normal functionong of my cell?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.

Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a 5800xm on T-mobile in the UK which had software version 21.0.025. Checked for updates on the phone and had the 'no updates available' message. Went onto Ovi Suite, did a backup of my phone, then updated the software to version 31.0.101 which should be compatable with Ovi/Nokia maps 3.3 (with FREE navigation). After several attempt to download and install the new map software (through Ovi store on the handset, Ovi.com, and Ovi Suite) I finally managed to get the 'installation complete' message
I don't get the dashboard when I first start Ovi maps each time, which is supposed to show that it is indeed the new version that you're running. Now when I start to plan a route, I get the first turn voice command, then my phone shows 'updating' then proceeds to ask me for money! If I go into options - about (on maps), I'm supposedly running v31.01 09wk26. If I go into settings - application manager - installed application, Ovi maps shows version 3.03(246) being installed. Tonight I connected the 5800 to my PC to download some maps using maploader, and Ovi Suite came up with an option to install Maps v3
I would like to put in some new maps (for another country) on my N95 8GB as I have done several times before, but it looks like I can't do it the way as I have done before. As I remember I previously did it by choosing maps in Nokia PC Suite which sent me to a map download program. Now it just sends me to a ovi-map website that says "Navigation on your Nokia is now free".But how do I load a new map into my existing map software on my N95 8GB?Is it possible in some way to get free navigation working on N95 8GB?

The funny thing is that when I choose open location in Nokia maps in a twitter client, the map opens; but to open it through the menu app becomes a problem. I'm using 603 belle sw version 111.020. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia 500 with Belle installed (vers: 111.021.0028) and Nokia Suite vers 3.6.36.On the 17.12.2012 I've installed the latest version of Romania maps: 00.02.47.103 and since then I get the same error message 'car navigation cannot start at this location'. I can access the maps, I get the correct position but the problem occurs when I try to navigate to any address. It doesn't seem to have an actual issue with the location because I've tried several locations in Bucharest and got the same error.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using a nokia 5230 with maps 3.03.When i click on my position inside the app it doesn't locate any satellites, the bottom where the bars are there is only one yellow flashing light.When i click a location and select drive to, it just gets stuck on waiting for GPS and the yellow light for satellites keeps blinking and im outside without any cloud cover!.
Also one more thing, i downloaded the male_us voice pack, what folder do i put it in for it to show up? i tried putting it in E:citiesmale_us and in E:citiesdiskcachemale_us and E:citiesdiskcacheviocesmale_us and none of them show up in the options where you slect them.it still prompts me to download them.i don't have a data plan and this phone doesn't support WIFI.

I use a Nokia X6 (16GB) + external bluetooth GPS receiver for faster and more accurate positioning.When I open MAPS and I have bluetooth GPS ON it's impossible to connect to online services like weather, michelin, OVI placemarks sync.It seems the app can't handle a BT and WiFi connection at the same time. Most of the time it can't connect and some times ti crashes.If I turn BT GPS OFF then connection is normal.

Navigation seems to be working fine, however whenever choosing any functionality which requires the program to go online, it fails with the following error message:"Something went wrong and the connection failed. For the determination of the location only the internal gps is switched on. I don't want any roaming connection to internet during my stay in Spain.Starting OVI maps pops-up immediately the question for a connection to GPRS which I canceled.It is, if a connection is made to GPS, possible to find my possition but finding a route to a address doesn't work. All I get is the question to connect to GPRS and if I canceled that nothing happens, in other words it was not possible to search for a location / planning a route.Do I something wrong or is this standard behaviour of OVI maps?

This works just fine to me in the US. However I want to add Belgium and England to my map set.Question 1: Will I lose any existing functionality if I install Ovi Maps? Does Ovi Maps require a data connection to track your current position? The voice announces i.e. to turn right in one kilometer and again to turn right now, but the announcement to turn right in about 300 meters including the street name or the highway number and direction is missing completely. Sometimes the command to turn now is also left out. I tried using the German female voice without street names as well as the UK English voice with street names - both work well without any problems.I already reinstalled Ovi Maps via Ovi Store, deleted the qf file and the cities folder on the mass memory and re-downloaded the map and voice files, I resetted the phone via *#7370# and reinstalled the actual firmware (013.016) via Ovi Suite without success.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI found that even if I set Ovi maps to "offline", it still sends and receives packet data while the gps is in use. I started a route and after stopping it, I checked the "Log' and I can see more data send and received recorded. I do not have a data plan and would like to know if I am incurring charges in this case. I have a-gps and gps set, so I'm guessing these packets might be due to a-gps? Without a-gps and with gps alone the performance will be pretty bad, right? I have t-mobo and nokia 5230.

Today, I can not get any map downloading properly started. I'd really need to get maps of Italy installed soon.I'm using the lastest Ovi Suite (downloaded and installed yesterday) and N95 8GB. It happens very often that Nokia Maps can not reconnect after loosing GPS connection(for example in tunnels)The only way to restart the navigation mode is stop the program and restart it. Therefore the application can not be used as professional navigation solution.

It has no problem getting a good strong fix in "GPS data" and works just fine in my Sports Tracker app, but when I open Ovi Maps, the GPS meter shows alternating pairs of red and gray bars. It seems to get my initial location right, but the centre cursor fades to a dim pink does not move. I've tried to remove Ovi Maps, thinking that perhaps reinstalling it would do the trick, but my attempts to remove it have failed.
