Nokia Navigation :: Ovi Maps Breaks E71 GPS Connection
Jul 9, 2010Since installing the new free Maps app, my GPS has failed to work properly. It has no problem getting a good strong fix in "GPS data" and works just fine in my Sports Tracker app, but when I open Ovi Maps, the GPS meter shows alternating pairs of red and gray bars. It seems to get my initial location right, but the centre cursor fades to a dim pink does not move. I've tried to remove Ovi Maps, thinking that perhaps reinstalling it would do the trick, but my attempts to remove it have failed.

Jul 31, 2010I have a Nokia 5230 which I have updated the maps via Ovi suite on my PC,. However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.

How do I look/search the map of Europe when I am in Australia, without connecting to the internet.In positioning methods I have everything turned off accept "integrated GPS".Bluetooth GPS, Assisted GPS, Network Based GPS are all switched off.

I get these messages trying to use ovimaps on my cell:First I get this message: "Connection failed?" and the it goes in a mode "Waiting for GPS?" but after 15 minutes it has still not found GPS signal.In addition I can tell that internet now works 100% perfect but my yahoomail only reach connection 8 out of 10 attempt to get connection. Using mu yahoo email account on the phone I get the message. "Shot down one of the connection".

Jun 25, 2010The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"

2. Whenever I went on the internet with my N95, I had a option how I wished to connect - my netgear router or Mobile web etc.
With N97, It chooses which one I have set on priority, but sometimes I dont want that one. Can I have it so that it asks me everytime I connect like N95?

Under Menu - Apps - Program updates, I found new Nokia Maps application (Nokia Kartat). Selected and let it update.After successfull installation, my Maps application does not launch at all. If selecting Maps (Kartat in my Finnish localised phone) or Drive (Aja), the phone just popups an error 'Maps: Device does not support function' (Kartat: Laite ei tue toimintoa). Feb 27, 2010I recently bought a 5230 on a talk mobile monthly contract and I'v had a few connection problems. First of all I can't check for updates for my phone or the software on it. I just get an error message which says 'connection error'.Similarly with Maps it simply won't connect to the internet saying 'something went wrong with the connection, please try again'.The other internet accessing functions of the phone, like the browser and ovi store etc, work fine. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Jan 25, 2012tried to update my v3.06 11wk23 b05, version 0.2.45.109 to the "new" v3.08 but ovi suite doesn't recognise it.
i have tried multiple ways of getting it but i am not succeeding.
(1) ovi suite (with phone connected) would only do a country update (new zealand)
(2) ovi store via mobile service tells me i have v.308 but a physical check as per above clearly states i ony have v3.06.
(3) software update on the N8 doesn't recognise a maps update.
(4) i have tried the "updates" in the maps application itself but comes up with "the most recent map is already installed on your phone. no updates available. your map version: 00.02.45.109 release date: 30.11.2011"

May 28, 2010I'm base in Sydney Australia and have just received a msg from Nokia that I can update my firmware for my N900.(firmware version 10.2010.19.)The problem is that I receive a message that I could not update because of: poor-quality ,slow or intermittent internet connection. This could also be because of problems with our servers. Is it that NSU does not support N900 and if so why would Nokia sell a phone and not provide software to update the phone with.
