Is there anyway to reduce my n97 C drive without resetting because I only have 29.3 mb left after I installed Microsoft Silver light.Also I have Qt installed which is 6mb -does anyone have Qt installed?-thanks, i thought n97 will have more memory space after installing firmware v22

View 14 Replies View RelatedOk, I search the web and the forum, but did not find a definite answer on this. I installed X-plore in my N97 today. I had some issues this morning with the phone telling me there were memory issues and showing my 32 gb drive down to just 1.2 mb!!! My phone basically stopped working and I had to restarted about 4 times. I synced the phone and all of the sudden it was fine. (By the way, I installed X-plore after the issue).
Anyway, X-plore is showing the following:
C: 16.1mb free / 73 mb
D: 50.2mb free / 50.2 mb
E: 21.1 gb free / 29.8 gb
F: 7.3 gb free / 7.3 gb
Z: 0 kb / 0kb
Why is X-plore showing drives D and Z? What are those? Is D the ram? Does this mean my N97 is "Ok"?Now, the default file manager shows the following:
C: 16.2 free
E: 21.2 gb free
F: 7.4 gb free
It does not show the D drive? Can I improve my C drive? I've tried most of the suggestions on this site and others and I only get 16 mb free. I only have Nokia Maps installed and all the applications install on drive E. I don't know what else to do?
I've installed OVI Maps 3.03 over Maps 3.01. Poor me! Now I have 2.5 Mb left on my C drive. Vs. 16 Mb as of yesterday. Should I add that "application manager - installed apps" does not start anymore?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI noticed my phone going really slow, when I went into the c: folder on the included file manager of the phone it said I had only 3mb free space. After getting rid of bluetooth sis files in the messages folder and clearing the internet cahe I now have showing on drive c: free space of 23.2MB - good I suppose but I want to see if I can free up more space as the phone I believe does have around 80mb total (I know i should expect that system files of the phone will take up space but this much?) so anyway I suppose what I am is asking how I can free up more space as I cant see any more files I can delete on C: going through the inbuilt file manager and using windows file manager. I suppose I could use an app like y-browser or active file manager or whatever the app is called but its quite time consuming doing it through the phone, i would rather if anyone knows of an windows xp application where I can link up my Nokia 5800 by USB cable and run an XP app which will hunt out all files on C: including hidden/system and other files. i know I am going into dangerous terrotory of seeing system files and deleting them and bricking the phone but if I could see some hidden pictures and sound that I dont use and they are not tied to system files then I could delete them and get some more files back on C: - or has anyone know what else I could clear on the phone to give me back more than 23mb?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a Nokia E6, Belle version. I have a simple problem. But the answer to this has not been satisfactory in any forum. My phone memory (C drive) is low, and a warning message keeps popping up. I have done all that I can to free up memory.
1) I have no image, video or any other multimedia stored in the phone memory
2) I am using only one mailbox (active sync - gmail)
3) Only WhatsApp has been installed in the phone memory by default (nobody can install WhatsApp in any other location than the phone memory)
4) Lastly, no other application is installed in my phone memory, other than system files
5)I use a data plan that is always "on"
I want to know what is taking up so much of the phone memory when I have nothing except system files in the C drive?Nokia support give the standard reply -- clean messages, move multimedia from phone memory, etc. But this is illogical since I have no multimedia in C drive. I can't see anything that needs to be moved or cleaned.Also, when I check the memory status, I get at least 300 MB used in the "Others" category of the phone memory. What is this "others" category? I want to access that damn folder and delete everything in it.When I check my phone memory in morning, I have 70 MB free. By noon it comes down to 50 MB. By 7 pm the free memory is less than 5 MB, and then the warnings come.Like I told you, I am using only WhatsApp and Active Sync, is it possible that these two are the culprits? Are they continously downloading something and storing it in my C drive?I request you not to give me the standard "clean your drive" reply since it is not working in my case. Can anybody just tell me what is this "others" folder in C drive that shows up when you long press the drive in the file manager application? How can I free up memory in my C drive? Please, no more standard replies that don't work.
My C: memory is showing as full when I try to clear it through the phone file manager despite looking through all folders I cannot identify any large files on it and the same is the case when I try to look through my pc software.
When I hold on the C: memory and look at the memory details it shows 131mb of messages even though I have deleted all txt messages and emails, 46mb of SIS applications I can't see these in the file manager and 72mb of other files which I assume are the OS files.
I am having problems installing the latest Maps. It insists on loading into the C: I have tried Memory Reorganiser and I have set Ovi Store to load apps to E: but every time it loads to C: I have firmware firmware version 20.0.019. Does anybody have any suggestions please.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy name is Ed and I'm a newbie. Please indulge the length of this first post as I have many issues. My goal is to get all my favorite music together to be played on my Storm, which I can also use to play through my home stereo system. So far ,there, the volume is erratic and there is some distortion.
I have copied CD's and downloaded MP3s and M4as to my computer. The downloads came zipped and when extracted, I put the folders in an iTunes file and deleted the artwork and was left with the zipped folders, which I put in a separate "downloaded zip files" folder.
(1)Can I delete these zips without losing my music? I installed the original Desktop Mgr with Roxio, didn't like it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled DM with no Media Mgr and downloaded iTunes for the second time. Meantime, I opened Windows Media Player to see what version I had and if I could use it with DM and it automatically retrieved my 700 songs.
(2)Are they hurting anything there being a duplicate of iTunes and if so, how do I get them out?
To the biggest problem: I also downloaded the BB Media Sync and when I used it to load my 700 songs to my phone, it did so for 650 of them (4.3GB) but then said I was out of memory so it didn't sync the last 50.The details showed me that I have about 3GB memory left on the phone but it is for pictures.I don't care if my pictures are on there or not, I want to be able to load 8GB of MUSIC.I used help and it said to go into DM, choose options, and reduce the memory allocated to something else, (like pictures).I did so and there was no way to do that. I tried clicking on everything and never saw any way to do what help said.
(3) How do I get DM to allocate all my 8GB available memory to music? I know I can buy a 16GB chip, but I'm afraid it's going to allocate 12GB of it to pictures.Also, and finally, it is showing 700 songs on the sync screen, but it's shaded. When I want to add,say, 10 more songs, how do I get them through the system and ADD to my phone.Does sync automatically not duplicate?I have Windows XP SP3, 9530 through Verizon, and am about a 3 out of 10 computer knowledge wise.I am going to play golf now, which presents, although completely different, an equally challenging activity.
My N8 "phone memory C drive" is FULL. Applications are freezing, crashing, the phone is self restarting.
I see memory phone of 256 MB full with USB connected to PC. When I look inside the folders, nothing in some, no large file in others.
1. Why the phone memory is full? I did not install apps on the C drive aka phone memory, I did not put photos, videos or anything there, I don't use email.
2. Why I cannot find the files that occupy the memory? No large file can be seen.
3. Is this the cause of phone auto restarting and the cause some applications are crashing, closing in front of my eyes or in the background?
Why when I receive a simple call and I have only a game open after the call ends the game is already crashed / closed?
I don't like how my only way of finding help from apple is talking to a bunch of random ppl just like me. The area called "other" on my phones' memory (on the device summary in iTunes) keeps getting larger. what is in this area and how do I erase it?

it seems that i set destination, it finds me and my destination fine, i click start, it gives the first direction fine, i start driving and nothing, "my position" on the display doesn't move, the only way i can update it is "stop navigation" then "set destination" again where it picks up my new location.
i've ensured location services are on, location within the app is turned on, i've checked my connection is "online"...are there any other settings i should be aware of?

i am using it in a windscreen mount that grips the top and bottom of the phone with little "arms", i've tried in both landscape and portrait orientation. bluetooth is on and hoping to be playing music at the same time eventually.
i have been having the general "freeze out" issue recently with the phone where i lock it and then it doesn't come back on without a button reset, 2 times since friday
I have been having problems with my N97 for the past 4 months but has got really bad the past few days. I've had the phone for 9 months and works reasonably well most of the time.I have been running out of space on the C drive now only 500kb. No matter what I do (clearing web cache, deleting apps, trying to remove anything I can see) it rapidily loses the space again. Mb's go in hrs and even after clearing web cache. Last night I upgraded the software version to v20.0.019 and also ran the tool (forgotten the name) that attempts to move things from C drive to other drives. My emails do not take much space, I can't move them to E drive as using UK Three's email client for work email and it says it has to use the C drive but don't hink that is the issue. As soon as I clear some space it goes again.
Also after installing this new version I can no longer use my Hotmail email account or any other email client on the phone even after deleting. Also the wireless Nokia keyboard I had has stopped working now with the new version.
It's about to become useless for email or anything very soon. I have a warranty and cover for it, just wondering if it sounds like I need to use that now as is about to become an expensive brick I think.
I've been trying to unlock my 6650 without success. So far I've tried 3 codes. Before I try any more, is there a way to rest the counter that counts the attempts back to zero? I don't want to hit the max # of attempts.
Does anyone know the precess of linking the phone to a computer with a cable and unlocking it that way, just in case I do get to the maximumof 5 attempts. I'm not interested in taking it to a "pro"

I purchased the Nokia Lumia 920 just under a month ago, a few times it's blacked out and i've done a reset (hold volume button and power button down) and it's worked, this time however when I done that reset the screen is not working, the side buttons are working but the touch screen is not working at all, I've tried reseting it multiple times, with holding both volume buttons with the power button and holding down one or the other the with power button and camera button, I've tried removing the sim but with no resolution and I don't know what else I can do. I know chances are I will have to take it to a store but I thought I would try on here first.

This morning i read in the newspaper the NOKIA gives for free the Navigator o its cellulars.I opened the Nokia WEB site and the news was real: you can free download maps for Smartphones (but non for N86). My N86 has its drive navigator with an original 10 days license (expires on 31/01/2010).
The walk navigator has a lifetime license.
I then updated the drive navigator license data, but no change. It keeps prompting me to buy a new licence for the drive navigatorr( 99 euro, one year).
It does not sound correct: is now free or not free the NOKIA navigator? Before trying Nokia Maps, I upgraded to 20.115 via software updater and it prompted me to install nokia maps 3.0, which I did.
I am just trying to transfer all apps from C: to the E: prior to v2.1 install. How do I do this as I can't seem to locate where they are actually stored in the file manager?

I have a lot of IMAP folders since i ready many mailing lists, they contain about 3000 mails at the moment. After setting it up on my N97 my C: went down from 15 MB to 1,4 MB! Although I set the memory to be used to E:. And IMAP does not download the whole mail, but just the header. So i wonder, why does IMAP on the N97 fill up C: so much? Why does it not completely use E: when told so? I use the internal mail client, no Nokia Messaging. Any hints on this?

All installs are on the mass memory, emails and messages have been cleared out (gives back a couple of Meg) i'm down to 52Meg at the moment. I reformatted once (back to about 120Meg) and since then it's shrunk and continiues to get smaller!
