I've had my N900 on Vodafone UK for about a month now.This evening I discovered it had turned itself off, and it won't reboot.I get the Nokia logo backlit, and the indicator light illuminates. I get five flashing dots, the indicator light illuminates again, then fades. The screen goes dark.
View 22 RepliesI purchased the n900 and really loved the phone, but had to send it back because of the constant reboot problem. I want to get the phone again, but only when the problem has been properly fixed by Nokia.Does anyone know if the latest firmware update (PR1.1) has fixed this problem? One other question. Is it possible to turn the phone completly silent and only have the vibrate function on? I turned the phone profile to silent and turned the volume down on everything, but it was still making noises when the screen was pressed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought an N900 yesterday and during install, the thing went down although it was plugged in. I let it down and tried to load the battery all night long. This morning, I rebooted but it kept freezing on the 5 well known dots.
I searched how to flash the N900 and succeeded in it. Problem is that, as soon as it's booted, it reboots right away.Can it be that the battery is dead? After loading a whole night long, the battery should be fully charged, no?Also: if the battery is broken, it doesn't give current through to the machine, is that possible?
Remark: sometimes the device says "internal application error: camera application closed". But that only happens once in a while and I guess it is due to all the previous reboots it did...
Here what I done since the begging of the problem: when I first use, everything was ok (at least to me). One day without remembering to disconnect the device from Windows XP Sp2, I disconnected the USB cable to aswer a call (it was in mass storage mode).
After that don't remember exactly how but a few minutes laters after reboot the n900 some widgets disappeared from desktop. So I added them one more time but they won't come to desktop... I repeated many times the adding and after that the N900 gone crazy. Some applications still works but others didn't show the icon program on the menu, only the name under the icon appear, and when i tried to execute one of them the screen returned to desktop with all the widgets that first didn't show and the device reboot alone.
So I decided to flash and I followed every single step (that I found in a thread wrote by adamf) to flash maemo on N900 and I did it. But when I try to erase mass memory, the dots on the N900 screen stopped move and in the DOS windows there was: "suitable USB device not found, waiting". The N900 seems freezed. After 30 minutes I disconnected the USB cable and turned ON the device and it is OK. Well, all data is still there. Do I need to reset mass memory to erase the programs downloaded from the application catalogues? Flashing maemo doesn't do that?
Tried two times but the same thing happens and I quitted. I started to use the device and it works fine but I can't install some applications that first I had installed, like bounce evolution, APP widget, facebook widget (impossible installing error). But forecast weather and other widgets works... I can't understand why. Tried also other flasher like Global (first I have intalled Middle East) but I have the same error...
So after I rebooted my 9650, my email icons turned into the generic ones. Is there any way to restore them to the Yahoo and Aol icons that they were before, so i can tell my emails apart? I have already tried resending my service books but nothing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently did a software update on my Blackberry Bold 9000 when prompted by my desktop manager to do so. After the update the phone began running slowly. I then delete a couple applications off the phone such as Myspace and Facebook to free some memory. Then phone had to be rebooted to complete deletion. After reboot, the phone screen turned white and froze. To unfreeze I had to remove the battery. When I put the battery back in, it would not turn on anymore. Could the update have fried the phone altogether?

My IPhone 5 suddenly turned off and can not be turned on.
It prompts me to use connect to iTunes . I have done all iTunes updates but it says it cannot be restored due to error 14.
It restored correctly once this weekend and functioned for all of an hour before it died.
I'm afraid I'm within days of the one year warranty. Because I live in a rural area I can't get to a Rogers or IApple store I cannot conveniently take it in for replacement or repair. Â

Theme's have no real effect from what I've noticed. Unless you have a really big gfx intense theme.

Since Password is on, I see no need for Device Memory encryption to be on. Without the password you can't gain access to device files. ZonaSnap , QuickLaunch, Blink all preloaded during each test. 8 Email Accounts, about 80 read emails, and 100+ sms, 41 apps anyone that is getting 1-2min reboot please post your settings.
How much are the fast reboot or reboot/kill software really needed on ICS?im finding that even on a large exclude list there are still apps that run, that i dont really need and eat up some of the interal memory.is there any other way other than rebooting all the time to get rid of them? Will rebooting drain more battery energy?

But I heard Nokia has had problems withe the lennex operating system. I was told to hold off that Nokia has a totally new phone that will be introduced mid summer 2010 with a new operating system that will put Nokia back on top over iphone ect ect.

I need a phone with a good battery (I am traveling a lot of time), I need connectivity, but also multimedia (video and music), but must of all I need a very good organizer. So, I have to choose from these models: N900, N97, N97 mini, E72, BB 9700 Bold and IP 3GS. I know that you are not fans of BB and IP, but because I am a lot in the airplane, I need the multimedia and entertainment from 3GS and the office from BB.
I have disabled assisted GPS (AGPS) in my Nokia E71, and now GPS unable to find my position. Outdoor, and even after 20 minutes. It a clear sky, and when AGPS is enabled, it picked up position straight away. I don't want to use AGPS as it is not free - connects to internet.

Im used to my N95 doing it no problemthe whole phone seems unfinished - a half assed job and im reading posts from people with the same issues saying "nokia is going to bring out a PC suite for the n900 that will work" and "OVI will be working soon" that date back to February
I also fully charged it overnight its been on for 4 hours and the battery is nearly flat and I have only plugged in the mini USB thingo 3 times and the input socket is really loose.No EQ on the music player?? and no ability to edit the track names/artists in the menu.The N95 not only had EQ but stereo widening and other cool features - What a step down.i can't believe it - it almost 100% useless
I have all my contacts in Nokia x6. I also did sync with OVI site. I would like to get the contacts either from the x6 or from OVI site into my phone N900. How can I get them? I did use phone switch application from N95 to x6. Don't know how to do for N900.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my N900 2 weeks back. My GPS is not working. If I try to open Nokia Maps it gives me a messages as follows
1. "Looking for GPS"
2. "Downloading Data/Looking for GPS"
3. "Looking for GPS"
4. "No GPS Signal"
I did lot of readings on this but couldn't find a fix. This is reported as a bug in Maemo Bugzilla.But I'm confused with the comments from other users in these forums.So please update me if this is a general bug, or is it something wrong with my mobile.
Has any one out there got the N900 who previously had the N97?Would you recommend it?I do want more of a mobile computer than a phone - I make few calls but do send a fair number of texts.Can anyone also compare to the iPhone (as in have you previously owned the 3GS)
