I have broken my N900. The 32GB EMMC has been disconnected electrically from the phone's PCB and the remaining RAM is far too small to work properly. Can I use the micro-SD card as virtual memory for the phone? Can a Maemo / Linux expert out there suggest something otherwise it goes in to the skip!
View 5 Repliesi seem to be having a bluetooth challenge in not getting all the drivers.on my desktop (win 7/64bit) i am connected and can transfer files just fine. it took a while but finally all the drivers kicked in after a number of attempts.however, on my booklet 3g, win7/32bit, i cannot send files from my n900 to my booklet, only FROM my booklet.
seems no matter what i do i cannot get my booklet to load the additional drivers.in lookin on my phone in the bluetooth settings between what is different:on my desktop connection under supported profies: a2dp, ftp, hsp, opp and on my booklet connection under supprted profies: *blank*
so i think the issue is obvious there. but i dont understand why the phone is not sending the bluetooth drivers or the booklet is not being able to find the drivers to make my transfers work correctly.i have tried going to broadcom and downloading the latest driver package (did this for my desktop) but when i launch it, it doesnt even find my bluetooth adapter in my booklet, says to turn it on, but no matter what i do, (it is on) it will not recognize it to move on...
I am having difficulty updating my N900. Reason: not enough memory in target location. Please how do I free enough memory for my update?

Nothing helps.I connect it to a Debian and windows XP, none of them work.Any suggestions somehting like fsck? I know fsck is on the device but I don't know how to use it well?

Install it or latest phone software. Update now?"I have selected "Update Now" at least 4 times...and after less than a minute, I receive the message that "All apps are up to date."I have turned the phone completely off twice, in an attempt to "reboot" it, but still get the same above messages. How can I decide where applications are saved to when I install them, to prevent this from happening? View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my N900 about 2 days back, my sister dropped it and it would not turned on. I flashed it, and now it turns on but it does not recognize my internal memory card. I don't have an external card. I can't use camera, all websites show blank, and I get low error messages on almost everything else due to this.
If I go to settings/memory the the device memory is full and available memory for installable applications is at 80 MB. There is no corrupt memory card message. Also if I go to backup utility I get a "no memory card inserted" message. Any suggestions?
It finds them fine on a 2GB card. I tried reformatting it to FAT16 but still no luck. What's the trick?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange issue with my N900. It started yesterday when I plugged into my PC in external stockage mode. Windows gave me an alert saying that the phone should be analysed because of a faulty file system. I ignored this message. I have now noticed that I can no longer save any data on the internal memory, on the microSd there is no problem. I have no idea how to solve this problem so any advice would be great.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I power on my N900 I get a notification message saying device storage format unsupported. Note: I don"t have a memory card, this is the Internal Memory Card. When I check (settings, memory) It says memory card corrupt 1.86GB available. When I check File Manager, It says no files/folders. I tried flashing the firmware and emmc and it worked everything was back. But when I restart my phone same notification. When run mount/home/user/MyDocs via X-Terminal. In File Manager I can see N900 folder but in Settings/Memory is still says memory corrupt. When I restart phone everything does not work again. Can someone please assits me.
i have N900 and i'm facing a problem when i start any conversation i can send 1 msg then receive 1 the second i want to send the phone reflects with error msg(sending failed memory is full delete some data before send or receive)altho i have 26 gb free and i updated the phone to the latest version can any1 assist me with this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere what I done since the begging of the problem: when I first use, everything was ok (at least to me). One day without remembering to disconnect the device from Windows XP Sp2, I disconnected the USB cable to aswer a call (it was in mass storage mode).
After that don't remember exactly how but a few minutes laters after reboot the n900 some widgets disappeared from desktop. So I added them one more time but they won't come to desktop... I repeated many times the adding and after that the N900 gone crazy. Some applications still works but others didn't show the icon program on the menu, only the name under the icon appear, and when i tried to execute one of them the screen returned to desktop with all the widgets that first didn't show and the device reboot alone.
So I decided to flash and I followed every single step (that I found in a thread wrote by adamf) to flash maemo on N900 and I did it. But when I try to erase mass memory, the dots on the N900 screen stopped move and in the DOS windows there was: "suitable USB device not found, waiting". The N900 seems freezed. After 30 minutes I disconnected the USB cable and turned ON the device and it is OK. Well, all data is still there. Do I need to reset mass memory to erase the programs downloaded from the application catalogues? Flashing maemo doesn't do that?
Tried two times but the same thing happens and I quitted. I started to use the device and it works fine but I can't install some applications that first I had installed, like bounce evolution, APP widget, facebook widget (impossible installing error). But forecast weather and other widgets works... I can't understand why. Tried also other flasher like Global (first I have intalled Middle East) but I have the same error...
i realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.

Having great fun in doing so but not always given the option of where to save them to with the end result that they are saving to the phone memory which keeps filling up and then giving me an error message. Can anyone please tell me how to move apps from the phone memory to the card memory. And can anyone also tell me if I have an icon on the 'Menu' screen and the 'Apps' screen, does this mean the application has been downloaded twice and do I need both or can I delete one (presumably the 'Menu' one)?

All is well except when i connect to PC via USB cable and select 'Mass Storage' I get the message 'Memory Store Unavailable' on my phone and cannot access the contents of my memory card. As I noticed that my memory is geting low, I deleted my music using File manager and deleted some Saved pages. Problem is that used memory is still the same like it was before I deleted the files. I suppose that my deleted files gone to recycle bin or something like that? How can I REALY delete it (without reset)?
