Frankly speaking with most of the Fancy Features that the N900 offers it is a question, how many users choose to use it to its full potential. For a user like me I am gonna use my phone a lot to surf the web, check some cool sites etc.
I have been also checking out Motorola's Droid which has a 3.7" Inch screen with 16:9 wide screen Ratio the other day I had a chance to surf the web on it, and let me tell you guys it was a very good experience. I have still not had my hands on the Nokia N900. Does the N900 also give the same viewing pleasure, which includes excellent picture quality, wide vieweing(what I mean by wide viewing is, not watching anything in constricted, narrow view) Real Life picture colours etc.
What I am saying is with the Droid I did not feel I was watching anything in a very constricted and Narrow view, is the experience and the feeling also the same with the N900.
I've lately been considering purchasing a new phone for myself, particularly one that is either a combination of touch screen + keyboard, N900, or all physical, the BB 9700. I've been on these forums for a while ever since the release of the N900, and I know that this being a support forum for Nokia and all, that people are more prone to sharing about their problems rather than success, so that point has been taken into perspective.
For all the N900 owners out there, I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind answering a few questions please;
1. How would you rate your experience with the N900 from start to present? At least from what I incurred, there was a bit of a "rocky' start but I think it smoothed out? 2. How much potential do you see in the N900, vs. how much is there now - present day? 3. How is the feel of the keyboard? 4. Does the fact that it's a resistive touch screen vs. a capacitive one "ruin" in any way, your experience? 5. (For those that own or have owned a N97 and N900).... How are the two compared with each other? I know we may be talking on diferent levels, but what would you say the N97 is more geared towards, and the N900? 6. Are there any problems that you still experience on a daily basis worth mentioning? i.e. automatic reboots, slowing of the user interface - even when a lot of programs aren't opened, etc.
Please feel free to add any bit of extra advice or insight/information that you'd like to share. Honest opinion is always appreciated!
When I got my 5800 I was incredibly unimpressed with pretty much every aspect of it. Utter rubbish.I went online and checked out Nokia's Ovi store and there were about 3 apps there, none of which any good.
Thought I'd use Ovi again today. I couldn't remember what password I used so I went through the password retrival service on my phone. To do this you need to type in some letters displayed onscreen. Only the image doesn't work. On Nokia's phone, running Nokia's app, Nokia's password retrieval is impossible. This typifies everything about Nokia - unwieldy and clunky solutions that fail at every step. Nothing is straightforward or simple to use.
Finally logged on (after going on my PC). Logged on via my phone, went to download an App and "Cannot download due to an error".
i realy your help in this one, now i live in Lebanon, and i'm searching for a n900, but the other day my freind told that you can't check for your balance in your phone operartor, is that true, were i live, you need to recharge your phone in before you make phone calls, send messages etc, and to see how much dollars(or what ever its called) you still have in what you have recharged, you need to press *11# and than the green button, and than a message shows up showing you your phone operator balance, is it true that that can't be done on the n900? i like it how i can overclock the n900 from 600 mhz to 1000 mhz in less than 30 sec.
I thought I would share my experience of trying to get my activation fee waived.Well it took me 3 calls to ATT but I finally got my fee waived as a one time courtesy. My first two calls ended in failure. I was polite yet stern with both reps and told them I think its absurd to charge $36 activation fee on a phone that I activated myself and that I think paying $2000 over two year contract is worthy for them to waive this bogus $36 charge. Both reps talked to supervisors but told me there was no way they could remove the fee because it is a legitimate charge due to a deal they have with apple. They said if it was any other phone but the Iphone they could do it.
At this point i didnt think it was possible to get it waived but I decided to call one more time and try. This time a guy picked up and I asked him if there was anyway they could waive the activation fee. He didnt need to speak to any supervisor and just straight up told me that he understands my complaint and will remove the fee as a one time courtesy. It was so simple and yet it saved me $42 on my first bill. HUGE!So if anyone is having problems trying to get there activation fee waived I suggest to keep calling back until you get a decent rep. SO yeah be persistent and it could save you some money.
Another poor user experience delivered by RIM. I just upgraded blackberry desktop software and once again found that many of my settings, such as BBM links to contacts, contact links to my Linked In connections, user ID and passwords to sites such as Linked In and Facebook, and my home screen photo were reset.
I don't understand why RIM lacks consumer focus. No wonder Apple is kicking RIM's butt in the smartphone market - they design products that work well, are simple to use, and do not cause grief or lost data when upgrading software.
After 7 years of owning a blackberry, I am tired of using a product that simply provides a less-than-optimal user experience.
like many of you I've purchased all 3 iPhones to date on the first day they became available. I've been on my own individual plan for all of these purchase.. now I'm married and added my wife last July 11th under the "Family Plan" umbrella with a new 3GS. So there you have it.. we both have iPhone 3GS's purchased within 3 weeks of each other. Here's my problem: MY number (the main line) is eligible for an upgrade at the promotional price; my wife's number is not eligible until mid-March. Even though this phone was purchased 3 week after mine. First of all, neither AT&T Customer Relations, AT&T Customer Care or the ding dong at the corporate store can tell me ANYthing over the phone unless I drive myself all the way up to my nearest AT&T corporate store and debate common sense theories with him in person. He says only the main number will be eligible for an upgrade.. I say "So basically it's cheaper to my $120 ETF and start a new account instead of paying the full retail price $699 (400 dollar spread between promo rate and full retail). Would this not appear to create an incredible amount of busy paperwork for AT&T employees? So long story short, it would appear that if upgrading to new iPhones every year is your thing.. it's best to have two separate individual plans coming into your home instead of AT&T's Family Plan.Curious if I'm missing something, if this sounds right or any input you guys may have.
How to browse (intranet) websites via VPN connection? I have installed Lotus MC on my N73. Connection itself works fine, I can see correct status, can ping my phone from PC by phone's intranet IP, telnet from phone to intranet server is always ok even by HTTP 80 port, both by hostname and IP. But I cannot get to intranet web using neither standard Nokia browser, nor Opera Mini.
With standard browser, it's just impossible to select VPN access point (present in the list, but not selectable) and Opera Mini allows to select my VPN connection, but all I can see there is an error that server is unavailable.
I am in the process of experiencing my first smart phone ever! Three days ago I made the decision to get the Droid Eris. I was in love with this phone the first 24 hours and then I started to think of my other options. The Moto Droid is out for me just because I really hate the size of the device... Just not for me. I know am deciding on either the BB Tour or keeping my Droid Eris. I have some following questions that hopefully you can all chip in.
I am mainly going to use my phone for texting/emailing with the whole uploading pictures to facebook and making the occasional tweet. I just graduated college so also looking for a very reliable phone for my "finding a J O B" process. So far the Droid Eris seems to be a very capable phone but there is some hiccups in the facebook/twitter apps and when I am typing on the keyboard there seems to be some spotty lag.
So my questions for you are.
Does the Tour experience spotty lag while texting/emailing?How are the facebook and twitter apps for the blackberry, from my very native knowledge of BB I have heard great things about them.
Is BBM what it is cracked up to be... all my friends just swear by it.Everything I run is google from gmail to calender. Is the BB able to sync like the eris did to all my contacts? Is the BB able to do google talk and is it instantly or is there some delay in receiving emails and msgs through gmail.
First of all I'm mostly using Opera Mini but I wanted to know something. When I go to the Storm's default browser, which is the best Browser Identification? Blackberry, Firefox, or Internet Explorer? I wanted to know for everyone's experience.
I have an X6 and often when I browse the net I am told that I can't view certain files because there is no flash player. I presume I should download one from somewhere but where and which one?
when i start browsing on my inbuilt browser my phone hangs. The only way to make it work is by rebooting. I've formatted my device several times. Updated the software too. But still no cure!
I've E72 for few weeks. In general,I'm satisfied with what I get. A major exception is a strange resets I've almost allways during browsing over WiFi. Browser isn't an issue,it happens with both Nokia browser and Opera. It doesn't happen when I connect with mobile provider GSM. When I run email client over WiFi it works perfectly, well except it restarted once or twice when tried to handle large html messages with big attachments.
i want to buy a nokia phone but hesite between two phones : E72 and E75, does anybody could sould me to buy, i want in this order:
1/ good web browsing and mails speed 2/ GPS compass for wikitude drive 3/ playing game as uae4all with good speed
at the start of my search i would absolutly the N900 after seeing lot of but and battery life i go back to another phone and see that best battery life is normal phone with keyboard not with touchscreen so i hesitate beetwen the E75 with big screen and new E72.
Does anyone know how to turn portrait mode off in browsing?? it's doing my nut in; keeps flicking between portrait and lanscape when i move the phone slightly.it's the same when you get get a call aswell; trying to chase the bloody answer button before it rings out cheers, Leon.
Before the videos appeard together with the pictures when browsing. Now you have to start the "Videos" app to browse and view videos. And it takes forever to start them. Why this change?
I encounter this problem, usually when I browse. I usually browse with Opera Mini. If I open some portal and click on few pages (one at a time) very often I got out of memory problem and Opera Mini quits. I have to start it again. I don't know how to free up more internal memory, as there is 50MB of it and I moved all programs and files that are not locked to memory card. Now there is a little more then 23MB of internal memory free and that's all I could free up. All other is taken by system files and folders.

I have purchased e 72 on Thursday 6th May, 2010. In few occasion specially when I am browsing the net on my mobile my phones gets hanged and restart automatically. I have already updated my software.
This isn't a major issue either but something that keeps bothering me.I recently acquired the nokia 6700 slide phone to replace my older samsung slide phone. So far I'm fairly satisfied with the 6700 and the functions and applications suits my needs. There is however one thing which I haven't been able to change nor do I know if it is possible to change.my old samsung slide, when browsing the menus and applications, closing the slide would automatically close the menu or application I was using and return the phone to the home screen. In 6700, it doesn't close the application or menu that I'm browsing but rather keeps it open in the background as long as I manually navigate away from the menu or application. I know that the power button returns you to your home screen but is it possible to change the slide setting so that simply closing the slide would automatically close the menu or application and return the phone to the home screen? This is not a major issue but I still find it irritating since I'm used to just closing the slide to be able to see the home screen the next time I open it. Do I just have to get used to pushing the power button to get back to the home screen before closing the slide?
My name has accent marks. I write messages to my family in spanish. How can I type accent characters in the Firefox browser inside the Webtop experience? I have Gingerbread on my Atrix.
Or did Motorola break Linux in a way to make typing accent marks impossible?
Does Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic browsing have an issue with WPA2 encryption and MAC filtering? I noticed that my unit browses a lot slower in my N-router with WPA-Personal encryption and MAC filtering as compared to my Wireless G router with WEP security and NO MAC filtering.
I have a problem with packet data but with fring and communities only, its working with browsing.Note that fring and communities are working very well with the WLAN.
how do you disconnect a 5230 from the internet when you have finished browsing but want to keep the phone on??? I've resorted to turning it off which is a pain. There must be a simpler way I can't find a disconnect button in the menus I've been looking at. It was simple on my old nokia.
At the moment I have several wifi networks which have higher priority than the gprs data connection. But when i start web browsing it automatically chooses the gprs connection. Why is that?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
I am on version 1.2009.44 but version 2.2009.51 is available on my N900.I go to download and it says I need to download through the nokia software updater on my PC.So I connect it to my PC suite and run software updater and it cant find anything it says I am all upto date. But I am not.any help?
Just purchased an N900. I've also got a Skype account all set up and enabled on the N900. I'd really like to know if there is a way that the low rez camera that would normally be used for video calls, can also be used as a webcam when I'm Skyping to my friends? Honestly I don't even know how to use...or even discovered all the functions of this awesome smart phone. So...for the time being, here are my 3 inquiries: 1. How to invoke the low rez cam to function as a webcam when Skyping (if it can be done) 2. How do I bring up the "virtual" keypad? 3. How do I get to the built in Users Manual, that resides somewhere in the belly of this beast?
I have a Nokia N95 and it's been great. But it looks like I've been useing it for target practice so I was planning on buying the N97 or N900? But I heard Nokia has had problems withe the lennex operating system. I was told to hold off that Nokia has a totally new phone that will be introduced mid summer 2010 with a new operating system that will put Nokia back on top over iphone ect ect.
