Nokia :: Lost Contacts On E71

I have had my E71 since May last year and love my phone, I've had no complaints - until now.A few weeks ago I added hotmail on my phone. It downloaded my contacts from my hotmail and I went from 100 phone numbers to over 400 numbers/emails. Now I know I should have backed it up at this point, and I was meaning to, honestly, when yesterday it suddenly decided to randomly dump about 350 of my contacts!
So, I got in touch with my friends and asked them to send me their details again. Just by chance I decided to put a little asterisk beside the new contacts - just in case any of the old contacts returned.Well, the today, I checked my phone, only to discover that it had deleted some of the new contacts I had entered yesterday, but at the same time reinstated a handful of the old contacts I lost! Has anyone else had this problem or can shed a light on this for me? I'm a bit worried about this now, I don't want it to keep dumping numbers I need. Do you think its connected with me putting hotmail on my phone? Its deleted a few photos too!

I was trying to back up my contacts from my Nokia E51, but something went wrong and they are now missing.
Here is what I did:
I downloaded the Nokia E51 iSync plugin found on this page after selecting E51: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download.I made sure iSync.app was not running and installed the plugin.I created a group in Address Book.app called Nokia, into which I was going to back up my contacts.I started iSync and added my mobile device. I chose to sync Contacts into the Nokia group, but decided not to sync the CalendarI chose to merge data (not to erase the device details first, which is another option)When I clicked sync I saw a message on the phone stating "Sending 315 contacts", and a little while later, "Receiving 315 contacts." Finally, a "Sync complete" (or something similar) appeared.
After this, I was a little more than shocked to find both the Nokia group within Address Book.app empty, as well as the contacts list on the phone it self. In pure desperation, I restarted the phone, but still - all my contacts are missing.
I know that the webpage says that one should backup all details before synchronizing - which in itself is somewhat of a chicken and egg problem. Backing up is exactly what I was trying to do.
Does anyone have any pointers or ides that I could try to get back the (potentially, hopefully) lost data? I haven't written anything back to the contacts list, is there a way to reconstruct (parts of) the contacts list by reading the memory directly (similar to how deleted files can sometimes be recovered if they haven't been written over)?

I recently replaced my n85 as it was malfunctioning. I backed up the phone memory to SD card. On restoring this to my new phone, the contacts doesn't seem to have been restored. On entering the phone book, it says "contacts from selected memories not available". It seems strange as, upon receiving calls/messages, my phone knows who they are from (ie. the name of the contact comes up rather than the number). It seems the contacts are somewhere in the phone but it just won'r let me see them.

I have read the official support page which told me to first make a backup from phone memory to memory card, take out the memory card, and THEN make the firmware update, put the memory card back in, and restore memory from card. I did all this and now all my business notes and all my business contacts are gone. Were they not stored in the 'phone memory'? Or did the website fail to say that notes and contacts will NOT be saved from phone memory to memory card when one performs the backup? And no, I don't use Windows, so I cannot synchronise contacts and notes and calendar. I have always made a backup from phone memory to card. Did I just find out that the people at Nokia are just a couple of mumbling amateurs who tell their clients to 'make a backup of the phone memory to memory card' and then fail to mention that some things are NOT backed up in this process? Suffice to say that I am very, very, extremely angry at Nokia now.

I just wanted to back up my address book contacts from my Nokia 6300, using Nokia PC Suite. Unfortunately, the backup process stopped before completing, backing up only 13 contacts. Then, it synchronized these 13 contacts back to my cellphone, deleting all other 400 contacts on the phone.
Do you have any idea on how i can recover those lost contacts? I have already checked the Nokia PC Suite backup file using Noki software, however it also only shows 13 contacts. Also checked the PCCSContact file in the application data folder with SQLite3 Manager. However, it doesnt show any more contacts either. Any chance I can access the contacts on the mobile phone storage card?

So I just updated to Belle on my Nokia N8, and after it made a big thing of backing up my text messages, contacts, calendar entries and media, it seems to have lost most of this. After telling Nokia Suite to sync with my phone, it syncronised all of my media (music, photos) but my texts, contacts and calendar entries are nowhere to be found.

I am using c6-01 phone, few days ago I got some problem with my new software, I need to reload it, after reinstallation I have lost my all contact no. Before reinstallation I always used sync contact through ovi store but never tried to take backup, but know I am not able to found my lost contact anywhere. I thought after sync, contact will be safe and I can get back them after sync again, but I failed. Any other way to get back my lost contact.

I bought my bold 9900 last november and back then I connected the phone to the computer and switch from the 9700 that i own previously. Since then I never connected the phone to the computer again until yesterday to update the software. In the middle of my first attempt to update there was a crash so I started again but for my surprise after de update has finished and i reinitiate the handset it seems that almost eveything was wiped out, I had to reinstal all the applications and when the phone was on it came the option the contacts from sim to be installed but then i have some contacts missing and part of the info of some of the ones that still there are also missing, the weird thing is the pictures that i had in the phone are all there.... DO you think theres anyway to get the contacts back? SHould I restore from the backup of the 9700 that i did when i bought the new phone?

Lost my contacts when I click the contacts Icon. My phone still has them housed somewhere because when I get a call or text the phone still shows the contact name. Now when I click the contact Icon it reads Find at the top, Personal and No Contact?

my son took out the sim card and put his in to try it. I have put mine back in and have lost all my contacts, can i retrieve them. He also set up Blackberry ID which he forgot the password and it says we only have 1 attempt left (what happens if we get it wrong again?). I think i have reset the password on the computer, will this be updated on the phone?

I seem to have lost all my bbm contacts, even though i did quite a few backups before, i even did so with Blackberry Protect. I am at a loss here. All this happened when i changed service provider. I had asked them before if this would happen and there answer was no. All of asudden yesterday(a day after the switch) i was on the road and all my contacts disappeared. I have tried backing through Blackberry Protect to no result.

Why have i lost all my contacts on my iphone4s that I just purchased 5 days ago?
I noticed that the contacts were there a couple of days a go and now the whole contacts directory is gone. This is my first iphone having had a Blackberry Storm prior to this. I just signed up for icloud and I'm wondering if it might have been something that I might have done. I'm not familiar with many of the options on the iphone.

I have numbers in my recent phone calls list that used to show their name or nickname, but now just show the phone number, and of course I check the contacts, and they're Gone. I had NOT done any updates recently. My iCloud was set with "contacts ON". My wife also has an iPhone. She also has not recently done any updates. We both have our own logins for iTunes. I have tried Connecting my phone, opening iTunes, and clicking Sync. This did not work. Is there any way to find out where SOME of my contacts went?

I have Iphone 3G - no jail brake!In Itunes i backed up my iphone (i can see the last back up in folder as well in device preferences > devices > device backups) Then I decided to update my Iphone from IOS 4.x.x (i dont remember exact version) to the latest (5.1.1)After update was succesfully done it automatically took latest backup and installed it on iphone. I have all SMS, contact favorites, last calls - BUT THERE ARE NO CONTACTS. Interesting that during pushing favorites it shows very shortly favorite names, but then stays only numbers.I tried to off/on I cloud, sim import, restart, restore from backup - nothing works.

I have lost all of my contacts.I was having problems with my iphone and did a restore, not from backup.Now the iphone is working properly but I lost my contacts in the process.I checked my itunes backups but it only says today's date.I did a time machine backup of my whole computer which included iTunes.I am thinking there should be a folder with my contacts in that but I am unable to locate it.All of my contacts where originally added to my iphone manually.Please help,I do not know where to find the contacts and I am very worried about being able to recover them.

My iPhone syncs with my gmail contacts, but they were all lost during upgrade. In the gmail account settings, it no longer allows me to select contacts for syncing. Has anyone else experienced this?
