I just picked up my E72 phone and I was wondering if there was a quick way to access notifications that come at the bottom of the screen when a new SMS has come in or there has been a missed call. Its really irritating to get an SMS, then when I unlock the phone and scroll using the opti-pad to the tab with new SMS it keeps going passed it. So maybe there is a way around this? Like a shortcut key?

When having text notification sounds, on other phones I know there's a quick button to silence it let's say if it goes off and you're talking to someone. I know from reading so far the only "quick" way to do that is hold down the volume button. Is there literally no other button on the phone that you can just click to silence your notification, while having notifications have a volume. I have a hard time hearing so I tend to leave the notifications/ringtone volume on. With a lockscreen.

It will have lots of times when it doesn't register touch, like when I'm typing, scrolling, or when trying to pull down the quick settings/notification bar, it takes several tries. Also, when I set the phone flat it won't hardly register any touch at all.
I have tried the following to try and resolve it:
- complete factory reset
- changed launchers and keyboards
- making sure screen is clean/fingers aren't cold etc
- changing the long press settings for the phone
Is it possible without root to get rid of these from the notification drawer? I thought initially that s finder was handy but have never used it and what quick connect is (when i click on it all it does is turn bluetooth on??) which is stupid because the bluetooth toggle is directly above it!
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i've had my blackberry 8900 for a year now & it's very convenient for me to just press the clicking letters of a contact name and have it narrow down my contacts to the person i want. That way, i don't have to click on the contacts icon and start finding a name.I just took out the battery of my phone & put it in a couple minutes later because of some other issues, & now i can no longer do that anymore! I press buttons when i'm on the home screen and nothing happens; there isn't the convenient shortcut to finding/narrowing down a contact anymore.

When I go to the dialpad, dialing a number doesn't bring up any contacts; and attempting to press any keyboard buttons (i.e. "M" for "Michael") does absolutely nothing either.I am sure I must be missing something. 1) tried reinstalled firmware through Ovi suite - failed to have programs
2) advanced date on phone to 22/10/11 and using software update on phone... updates appeared for Symbian Anna 1/2 and 2/2 and installation appeared to take place. However, no icon for Quickoffice or PDF.
3) If I go to settings > application manager > installed apps then Adobe Reader LE version 10.00(245) is listed as being on C: phonememory and Quickoffice 6.04(460) on C: phonememory
Is there a quick way(one click) to activate the camera on this model rather than going through the menu?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had my Nokia x6 for a while now and lately it's really starting to act up. Every now and then it just reboots itself. The menu (that appears when you press the on/off button) pops up real quick and automatically chooses the "turn off"-option. This happens more than 10 times a day. But it won't shut down if the lock button is activated, the display just lights up (which is REALLY annoying too). I've tried to do a soft reset and a hard reset (although the hard reset didn't delete my songs) and the problem persists! Should I try to format the the discs (or whatever they're called) or is this undoubtedly a problem that needs to be solved by my local Nokia Care Center?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently received my N8 (1-1.5 weeks ago) and have been having a lot of fun with it however my biggest gripe is that the battery would require charging far too soon (once or twice a day depending on use)I was a little dumbfounded as reviews have been praising the N8s battery life. However I thought perhaps my usage was a little more extreme than the common user/reviewer.
Until the other night, before bed, my battery indicator showed roughly 50% battery life; I had turned my widgets and apps off (my bluetooth and gps were also off the only thing on was my wifi)
I locked my screen, leaving the clock screensaver on, and proceeded to sleep not 4 hours later I awoke and wanted to check what time it was but my phone had shut off, the battery was drained!
This doesn't seem normal to me and I posed the question to the aforementioned blog and the replies I received also found the situation odd.I have proceeded with a test after charging my battery to full. This time I have insured everything is turned off, that is the: widgets are in offline mode; apps; wlan; gps; bluetooth; FM transmitter. I have left the clock screensaver on and am waiting to see how long the battery lasts.
I know the original Anna updates caused Quickoffice and PDF viewer to disappear but the following updates would install them. I just finished applying all the Anna updates and am still missing Quickoffice and PDF viewer. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to get them back?Not sure if this matters but I had the paid version of Quickoffice. Since I installed that a while ago I am thinking the Quickoffice in the Anna update is a newer version.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have over 1,500 contacts in Outlook and has successfully synchronized them with Nokia E72 (last firmware). But quick search in Contacts application simply doesn't work - I can find only few contacts - others just dissapear when I start typing correct letters.
I tried to kill the process of this app and restart Contacts. Voila, it works correctly! But then in 5 min. I tried again and got just the same problem.Desktop quick search doesn't work too.
I've already tried to reload all the contacts in my phone - no results.
Since the latest firmware update ive noticed my phone battery isnt lasting that long at all.
was fully charged when i went to bed, 8 hrs later without use its a 1/4 down. now through the day at work using it everynow n again for text message im down to 1/4 left.
Does anyone know if there is a really quick way of adjusting the ringer volume on the n900 without having to go into profiles. I thought there might be a shortcut key or something.

View 13 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago, my new nokia 5800 which i recieved on a plan using virgin fell into water. I bought a new one from a website called topbuy.com.au, which came from Hong Kong, although claimed to be made at the same factory as all the other phones. When i received my new phone, i was suprised to see that everything seemed to be in order, and that it all looked fine.When i started the phone i noticed many problems with my layout. It all seemed very awkward, and the Add button for the quick contact function was large. I also had 2 buttons saying telehpone and contacts at the bottom of the screen instead of the 2 icons that were there on my older phone. I also do not have the full screen qwerty keyboard available, or atleast cannot find it, when i want to text. Another small thing i noticed was that when i scrolled through with the stylus, for example through the messageing menu, instead of stopping at the top or bottom it would keep scrolling untill i stopped.

Regardless of whether you launch Ovi from the quick launch type thing on the homescreen or on the menu, it doesn't work.
If you attempt to click on the icon on the homescreen, nothing happens.
If you click on it on the menu screen, the clock in the top right corner flickers and nothing happens.
I can't bear another hard reset, but i guess if i have to i will, any ideas?
I just updated the software for my Nokia X6 and it came with the 'quickoffice' application, when I try to use it, says that I do not have application license and asks if I want to purchase it or continue, when a click continue, it does not do anything, so I assume I have to buy the license, is that true? Cannot use it without license?

i currently have a service with 3 and was lead to believe that i could but called through to my customer care line and they told me the opposite. i wanted to pose the question here for someone of blackberry expertise to inform me.
I setup my G3 with Active Sync or an Exchange account. When I search for a contact's phone number I can pull up the personal contacts from Outlook but it does not automatically search the Global Address List which is the companies address book on the Exchange server. I have check my settings under Contacts and it is set to search all accounts.
If I open a new email from the default mail app that comes with the phone it will automatically access the GAL on the Exchange server. In other words I type in the name in the To: field of the person and it finds the names from the GAL.
My other two Android devices would automatically find the GAL, and with an iPhone one has to take some extra steps to find the information but it does find it. LG told me to purchase a third party mail app but I am not sure that would resolve the issue with the contacts search.
