Nokia :: E55 Pop3 Server HTML Retrieval SMS / Attachments Error?
Jan 29, 2010
for the last 2-3 days my E55 has been unable to retrieve messages in HTML and attachments will not download. When I request for retrieval, the retrieval task bar appears then the message completey disappears from the mailbox. It does not go to deleted items it simply disappears from the phone. Agonisingly and infuriating to say the least! I have twice called Nokia support who have now escalated the issue. They have reset the phone to factory settings and all software is as updated as can be. I have been all over the menu and e mail settings, both global and mailbox, and cannot see what could be causing the issue. My mail is POP3 with Blueyonder and is ok on my PC with XP Pro SP2 and also on my Notebook with Win 7 Ultimate. Both of these are configured to save copies on the server, however if the message is read first on the phone neither the PC nor Notebook can receive the message as Nokia only supports pull from the server. Why is this suddenly happening? I have had this phone for approximately 5 months now and it has never occured before this last week. Do you have any resolutions?
Unable to define server settings when setting up IMAP or POP3 mailbox. Setup Wizard no longer gives these options when selecting OTHER as your email client type.
I was just given a new E72 for work as my iphone got smashed. But I cant view emails on it. I have configured my emails on it & can download my emails ok, but when i open them I cant see anything more than the subject & get the following error:"Mail for exchange
Security policy that allows downloading HTML messages is disabled".Is there a feature I havent got enabled?
I have reasonable, but limited, BB exposure over a number of years, but always in a simple email scenario (typically one handset, accessing a single POP3 account). However, for reasons that I will skip over at this point in time for simplicity, we now need to set up a 9300 (on BT, here in the UK) to be able receive from one (POP3) server, but send out via another (SMTP).Unfortunately, however, the BT web interface (BIS ?) only allows one address for "server".
I use Outlook for business email and my SG2 for it while away. On return I find that the mail has been deleted from the server so is not available for Outlook. I have found no setting on the SG2 for stopping this whereas it is available on my partners HCT.
I created a POP3 account using the "Accounts" app. All is good, it can send & receive emails & they appear in the Blur messaging widgets, which I like.My problem is that I do not want the phone to delete the emails from the server as I get my main PC's Outlook to download & store all the emails when it is switched on.Can it be done? It would be a nice new feature to add if it isn't already in.
I'm urgently need some help with the following:I am trying to set up a POP email account via the Blackberry internet service.I have entered all the information in correctly ie username mail server: mail.mydomain.co.uk...but i keep getting the same message:"cannot connect to email server or invalid server name".I know all the setting are correct because i have similar setups on iphone, other handhelds and outlook pop3 accounts and they all work without any problem.
I have even tried repling the mail server name with the actual IP address of the server. It only seems to reject the setting if i use BIS and my only thoughts are that there could be some sort of IP block.Anyone who has experienced similar problems or know who i could contact would be greatly appreciated. Orange and Blackberry dont seem easy to find someone who could give me a technical reason why they not able to resolve this mailserver.
I have updated to 2.2009.51-1.002. I can access my exchange server over a web browser, so data connection is working, and I have the right details. I do get a message about invalid certificates on Firefox. On the N900 I get the message "either exchange requires secure connection or account is disabled".
I upgraded my Tour (Verizon) last week to OS 5.0. Since the upgrade I have been unable to view HTML emails. The body of the email provides the text/link to the images along with a lot of text I do not understand. I don't even get the links to "get image" or "view image on a web page". I made sure the settings were correct (i.e. enable HTML email, download images automatically) and the issue persisted. Battery pull did not work, deleting and resending service books did not work. Through searches on this forum and others it appears that this is not an isolated problem. Is there a fix that I am not aware of? I am close to wiping the phone clean and going back to OS 4.7, but I like all other features that came with 5.0.
After the last update (v50) on my nokia xpressmusic 5800 I have no longer access to my internet connection thru WLAN. It shows the error message "Invalid Server Name". My router (DLink WBR1310) uses WEP encryption. How do I solve this problem? Should a hard reset fix this problem?
I just upgraded my Nokia 5800 to the latest firmware and now my WLAN always gives me the 'INvalid Server Name' issue and also my vibration alert has stopped working for all profiles. please HElp.I have tried everything on the other discussion board. It dosent help.
I have used the Nokia Messaging Email application for over a year now, without problems. I had to perform a complete reset on my phone (Nokia N79 v30.019). However, upon trying to re-install Nokia Messaging Email software, I can't get past the setup process, as I get an error message saying "Unable to connect to server. Try again later.", right after I choose the email service I wish to use. Shouldn't I be asked for my Nokia Email account login at this point, and not which Email service I would like to use? Is the server down or is it a problem with handset?
I am using a Nokia N97 with the v21 firmware. I am connecting to a mail server via IMAP, using the phone's mail client (not mail for exchange). This has previously worked perfectly, however now I cannot update my inbox and view the emails. When I try to update the inbox, I get a dialogue box that says "Website has sent an untrusted certificate". After choosing "allow permanently", the inbox does not update. The message comes up every time I try to update (even when I've previously chosen "allow permanently".
I can however successfully send emails via the SMTP server using the phone (IMAP for sending is restricted, so have to use SMTP). Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening, and how I can solve it? I've also contacted the IT guys for the mail server, as I'm not sure whether the problem lies with the mail server or the phone, or both.
For some reason my 5800 phone has recently stopped retrieving emails from my IMAP inbox. No changes on the servet but I have recently installed the latest firmware 50.2.005 and all applications are up to date.
The problem is I go to inbox click on Connect and it says updating mailbox, sometimes it will download the new messages and sometimes I have to do it several times. Also the connection to the mailbox is immediately droppped. There is no "exiting will disconnect from mailbox" prompt when I exit so that shows that it is not connected. Then when I try to open a new or even an old message it connects and says updating mailbox and then sometimes the email application closes, sometimes it does not do anything and goes back to message list, sometimes it will show the message with no body and sometimes it shows an error saying could not display message. After trying several times sometimes I get to see the message content. Each time I try to open the email it attempts to connect to internet as it asks me which connection to use so it is evident the phone cannot maintain the connection open.
I have noted that after some firmware upgrade now I only have the option to download headers. Before I believe there was an option to download part of the body aswell.
when trying to delete a message from phone & server it tries to do it but finally just shows a red slash on the message icon. The message is not deleted from server either.
I tried selecting messages from memory card and phone memory and tried deleting the email account and setup from scratch but it is the same everytime.
I am using the default email client. The new Nokia email program is useless because it does not support secure connections which i need to use.
Got a new 5230 Nuron a few weeks ago. So far: quite pleased with it. With one exception: I have set up 4 email addresses. I'd like to set them all to auto retrieval; but the phone only lets me set 2 with that option. If I select a 3rd it tells me "maximum amount of mailboxes already automatically retrieving e-mails". Is there a way around this?
I set up a Gmail mailbox on my N86 phone using e-mail wizard (IMAP). It works fine in connecting to the Gmail, and send/receive e-mails. But my problem is with automatic retrieval; every time it wants to check my mailbox, it asks me to choose access point. That means automatically retrieval acts just like manual retrieval because if I am not there when it is trying to retrieve e-mails, it won't connect, so when I come to my phone, I just see a "Select connection" box giving me three options:
Search for WLAN Internet WAP services. My phone settings regarding to Access Point and Email configuration are as below:
Settings > Connection > Packet Data > Packet Data Connection > When Available Settings > Connection > Destinations > Internet > 1 access point (default destination)
My access point setting says "Use access point = Automatically" E-mail settings > Global settings : there is no configuration for access point or connection. The available options in this page: 1- Message list layout 2- Body text preview 3- Title dividers 4- Download notifications
E-mail settings > Mailbox settings: Mailbox settings > My email address Mailbox name. My name Signature Advanced mailbox settings. What to sync > Retrieve less than 2 KB Emails to retrieve IMAP4 folder path Folder subscriptions. When to sync > Connection daysConnection hoursUpdate intervalRetrieve when abroad.
I listed my available settings because I noticed different options in different tutorials. Even my phone's manual has some different options than my phone. I didn't list WLAN options because I don't have any WLAN network. So to make it short, I want my phone to retrieve e-mails from my GMail account automatically, without asking me about connection and access point each time. BTW, my phone's web browser works fine, and makes connection when needed without asking me about the access point to use. I hope someone can suggest me a solution because I like this e-mail application in my new phone, but it is strange to me that it cannot use the default access point and always needs to ask me.
What are the requirements to get this feature working? Just tested MfE 3.00.050 witha Nokia E71 phone running latest firmware v400 against MS Exchange 2003 SP2, and jus cannot see HTML formatted mail. Just the unformatted text is shown on the MfE client.
Do I need to do some configuration in OWA or in Exchange mailbox server? Or does this feature work only with MS Exchange 2007 OWA? If HTML message format really is supported in Nokia E71 and MfE 3.0.0050, I guess it should work with the latest phone firmware.
My E63 crashed after a software update last night. I seem to have recovered most stuff, but now can't access my emails from the Active Home Screen. It shows that new emails have arrived, but when I click on the icon - nothing happens. Just stays on the home screen. I can access emails by going Menu-Installations-email, but this is a bit of a faff!
Any ideas? I'm using the Nokia Messaging email for my Hotmail account. It all went smoothly for the last year....
I have been trying to reach an email setup on my N97 mini that I am happy with and so far have struggled and given up on the hopeless nokia email client, and am now having problems with setting destinations for automatic email retrieval. I have my internet destination set to prioritize to different wlans and then WAP. This is my default connection.
I have a gmail and a pop3 email account, set up for automatic retrieval, however they don't pull in any mail if the access point in use is set to default connection. If its set to WLAN, it works, if its set to contract WAP, it works, and if its set to default connection it works for manual connection but not automatic retrieval.
What makes it worse is I am sure it was set up and working last week? Any thoughts please? I am getting so frustrated with the error prone nature of email on this phone I am thinking of going back to my trusted N95 8GB.
I can't send any email when I am using POP3 email, I have the same set up that I have in my iphone before. When I push send, the email goes to outbox and it will never send.
Should my inbox on E72 contain old email? All I have is new email recieved. I have no way of referring back to earlier emails other than to refer back to my inbox using a PC. Is there any settings I can /should change to enable 'read' mail to stay in my E72 inbox? This is a bit of an inconvenience that I could do with some help with. The email account I am using is a blueyonder address through Virgin Media.
Can anybody tell me that how to enable HTML formatted emails in nokia e72? I Owned a E71 & it has such a feature that I can activate HTML formatted email & Non-HTML formated emails. But I don't find any feature in Nokia E72. I receive all the mails as text messages. I use Other Emails.
I have a nokia E5 and have just updated (through Nokia Suite beta) the email application from 3.16.0 to 3.21.0. Since then all of my messages which contain html code are displayed as is, without the phone parsing the code. What I mean is instead of normal writing I just get html code.
after I updated to the new v50 software I can't seem to be able to find a way to set up a pop3 homtail account. every option to set up an email leads me to the nokia messaging app which I don't like to use as the sync option is seriously unreliable. I can set up a pop3 account?
The mail setup wizard (which I dislike for other reasons) insists of setting up a imap mailbox that doesn't work with my ISP (cablecom switzerland) I'd like to setup a pop3 mailbox. But once the mailbox is setup the type cannot be changed. How do I setup a POP3 mailbox?
As I say, is there a setting on the Nokia E72 where i can set my emails to be read by plain text instead of html? My company has several E72 Nokias & NONE can view emails due to a html bug in the Nokia E72.If I can change my emails to be viewed in html that might be better. I also get a sync error after emails have downloaded & all i can see if the subject of the email. All other phones on our network that are not Nokia have no problems viewing emails.
