i've had my 5800 XM about a month now and the ovi store app has never worked. I have installed the latest phone fw and even re downloaded the app from my nokia a few times now but it still will not work. When i launch the ovi store app, all that happens is the ovi store screen comes up but nothing else happens.
View 4 RepliesI was downloading applications on my phone and during the process it would stop working. I closed out of the Ovi store and now it will not even open. I click on the Ovi store app button and it pops up the symbol(Nokia Ovi) and sits there for eternity. I have reset the phone 3 times and to no avail, it continues. I have uninstalled the application 4-5 times and even tried to download the earlier version. I still can't get into the Ovi store.
I am not sure what happened. I contacted Nokia and they say that my phone doesnt support the Ovi store. My question is HOW was i downloading apps for a week and all of a sudden it just doesnt work. Why would ONE phone not be supported by nokia when clearly on the box, in the instructions, etc., it states that the Ovi store is accessable? I have had this phone for a week and a half and it already has these problems? What kind of smart phone CANT support or download applications, themes, and games.
I'm comparing to my 5530, On the contacts bar it nicely blends into the back ground, on the 5800 is a dirty oversized white block with the contact in the middle, no blending in or anything, same on the email, a horrible big white square, nothing blended in, I've tried different themes, and reflashed but no good.

I have tried reinstalling the firmware a couple of times and i have also factory reset the phone a couple of times as well.I have found that if i am logged in to ovi store it just displays the ovi slash screen and just sits there without doing anything. however i am not logged into ovi it comes up with a script initialization failure error and closes. I have also tried removing all ovi store software and reinstall the software on a fresh firmware with factory default settings. this didn't work either. My phone details are as follows

Please help me resolve these issues.
I've had my 5800 for a few months now and love the phone. I downloaded a lot of music onto it when I first bought it and it has been working fine. I have recently moved house and no longer have the internet at home (and cant use it at work as we cant install things like that), and I know I should be able to download the music directly from the phone. I've tried to do this and get as far as the 'My Downloads' section showing the new track I am trying to download, but that's it the phone doesn't seem to store it.
I've tried different memory cards so I know that isn't the problem. I've tried formatting one of the meory cards and retrying it but it still doesn't work. I've tried going into the Applications then into the Memory Card (also tried the Phone itself) to see if it had maybe stored the track under something like images, but it isn't anywhere. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not planning on getting the internet at home so I really need to be able to do this via the phone itself.
How can I connect nokia 5800 to online ovi store via PC. I do not have wi-fi and hence have to access online ovi store via PC Internet.

Just got my 5800 XpressMusic chrome on T mobile uk it come with "comes with music" packaging and manuel with activation pin so i assume my device is compatible with Nokia music store however when i go to register using my device i put in the pin my own details and accept all etc. i get a message saying that my device is not supported and would i like to see compatible devices or better still go to car phone warehouse and get one there?
my phone is the only way i have of getting this music as i use a mac and they are not supported what so ever not even the website. today my friend got an iphone which is his first ever mac product he has had all he could go on about is how easy everything is he is even using a pc my experience has been scratching my head trying to work out how to set up music email
I have a nokia 5800 Nav. Edition. Here is step by step issues I am facing with the phone:
1. Whenever I go to OVI Store it gives me a message saying that an Update is available and I need to install it before going forward. So when I click on Update button it takes me to several screens and finally Outpus saying that "Unable to start the operation. Installer is in use already."
2. In order to solve this issue I went through some of the discussion and found out that in order to get this problem addressed i need to follow the steps to Open the file manager and remove the Memory Card followed by Removing the Card physically.
3. This is when I realized that for some reason my memory card is stuck inside, so when I press it the dock seems to be releasing it but it refuses to come out completely.
4. Despite removing the memory card and undocking it I am still not able to apply the update to Ovi Store but this time the error message is different. Here are the steps:
a. I go to file manager and remove the memory card.
b. I undock it physically.
c. I start the Ovi Store and click on Update.
d. It goes through several screens as above and finally asks for Installation (this did not happen when Mem card was in).
e. It starts the installer but then aborts it saying "Update Error".
have got nokia 5800. got ovi store on it. but cannot change login details. i think i had it to auto login. but now i have changed my password it says that login failed but cannot change the details. i had Internet working on it but when i changed networks, Internet could not see the new access point so i tried uninstalling it to reinstalling it. now i cannot download anything. login fails each time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 5800 XpressMusic and recently bought an BH-503 Bluetooth headset. It paired easily with my 5800 and I have no problems connecting the headset to my 5800. The sound quality is good and I enjoy listening to music on the new headset. The mic, however, doesn't work when paired with my 5800. I can hear the other guy without any problems but he cannot hear me. I've tried calling all of my friends and they obviously use loads of different mobile phones and landline phones, the result is always the same. I've tried resetting the headset - to no avail. Removing it from my 5800's Bluetooth paired devices list, then adding it again - no help. To test the mic itself, I paired the headset with my PC (a Dell XPS M1530). It paired fine - and the mic works!
It's a bit on the quiet side but it works fine, I can chat on Skype and record voice on my PC. So obviously the problem is pairing the mic with my 5800. My 5800 recently came back from Nokia after some service (wouldn't switch on, now fixed) and has firmware v. 40.something (haven't got the phone at hand right now). I have beautiful sound in the headset, all the buttons work fine and I love the headset. Everything works when paired with my PC, it's just the mic not working with my 5800. FYI, I haven't tried the 5800 with other Bluetooth headsets. Maybe my 5800 has Bluetooth problems. I guess I could go back to the store where I bought the BH-503 and ask to borrow another Bluetooth headset to check if that fixes it.
I bought a new Nokia 5800 xpress music last week. I upgraded the fiwmare to 40.xx and the ovi maps to 3.0.3 immediately after purchase. I see that GPS is not working atall. I can see that GPS data at the top but i am unable to get my current position. The same is working on my frineds mobile. I live in india and dont think place is a problem. I tried to get my position using GPRS as well as WLAN biut no use. Update: I just installed Google maps and its able to detect my current position! something is not right with ovi maps i guess.

View 12 Replies View RelatedCouldnt use touch screen at all suddenly today, I reinstalled the latest firmware update but it didnt help so did full reset and now Ive got the countries screen but can only scroll down 3 countries and cannot select any (select and cancel dont work) also the media bar keeps randomly flashing onto the screen. Anyone any idea what's causing this? It hasnt been dropped or anything, first I knew was I couldnt turn off the alarm this morning. I dont know how to go about getting it repaired as it was a competition prize in july 2009 and didnt come with any warranty documents.

And i hv also used it with gprs connection and wifi connection(i literally took my router on the roof to make wifi available there).i am pretty sure that there is a s/w problem because when i run google maps, it uses gps function wid out any problems.
