Nokia :: 5800- Themes Effects Not Working On 5800?
Mar 29, 2010I'm comparing to my 5530, On the contacts bar it nicely blends into the back ground, on the 5800 is a dirty oversized white block with the contact in the middle, no blending in or anything, same on the email, a horrible big white square, nothing blended in, I've tried different themes, and reflashed but no good.

Jan 31, 2010I've had an iPhone 3G for one year and a half. I Opened it up a few months ago to change the back cover, which was broken; and I broke a bit the plastic piece of connector 3 of the mother board (see at the Attached image); However, It worked perfectly... Until now, that I've reopened my iPhone to change again the backcover (false covers aren't very good...), and when I finished... Noticed that the earpiece is not working! I can't hear anything while calling! I know that the connector 3 of the screen is the cause, because proximity sensor isn't working neither...
But my question is:
Is there any way to know which part of the "connector 3" has been broken? The MoBo, or the Screen Flex? Because if it's the second, I can replace it for a few bucks, but if not... :S Or... Is there any other connector that I could damage or put badly, so they are doing contact with wrong pieces, etc etc? Notice that I had to disarm the whole iPhone to change the cover... So perhaps.

Feb 14, 2010Earpiece and proximity sensor do not work. I can hear people fine when they are on speaker. The screen does not turn off when I place my hand over it.

Apr 14, 2010I have a 5800 XpressMusic and recently bought an BH-503 Bluetooth headset. It paired easily with my 5800 and I have no problems connecting the headset to my 5800. The sound quality is good and I enjoy listening to music on the new headset. The mic, however, doesn't work when paired with my 5800. I can hear the other guy without any problems but he cannot hear me. I've tried calling all of my friends and they obviously use loads of different mobile phones and landline phones, the result is always the same. I've tried resetting the headset - to no avail. Removing it from my 5800's Bluetooth paired devices list, then adding it again - no help. To test the mic itself, I paired the headset with my PC (a Dell XPS M1530). It paired fine - and the mic works!
It's a bit on the quiet side but it works fine, I can chat on Skype and record voice on my PC. So obviously the problem is pairing the mic with my 5800. My 5800 recently came back from Nokia after some service (wouldn't switch on, now fixed) and has firmware v. 40.something (haven't got the phone at hand right now). I have beautiful sound in the headset, all the buttons work fine and I love the headset. Everything works when paired with my PC, it's just the mic not working with my 5800. FYI, I haven't tried the 5800 with other Bluetooth headsets. Maybe my 5800 has Bluetooth problems. I guess I could go back to the store where I bought the BH-503 and ask to borrow another Bluetooth headset to check if that fixes it.
Nokia :: GPS Not Working In 5800
Feb 18, 2010I bought a new Nokia 5800 xpress music last week. I upgraded the fiwmare to 40.xx and the ovi maps to 3.0.3 immediately after purchase. I see that GPS is not working atall. I can see that GPS data at the top but i am unable to get my current position. The same is working on my frineds mobile. I live in india and dont think place is a problem. I tried to get my position using GPRS as well as WLAN biut no use. Update: I just installed Google maps and its able to detect my current position! something is not right with ovi maps i guess.

Feb 8, 2010Couldnt use touch screen at all suddenly today, I reinstalled the latest firmware update but it didnt help so did full reset and now Ive got the countries screen but can only scroll down 3 countries and cannot select any (select and cancel dont work) also the media bar keeps randomly flashing onto the screen. Anyone any idea what's causing this? It hasnt been dropped or anything, first I knew was I couldnt turn off the alarm this morning. I dont know how to go about getting it repaired as it was a competition prize in july 2009 and didnt come with any warranty documents.

Aug 30, 2010the ovi maps installed on my 5800 doesn't work properpy or rather i should say it doesn't work at all.from the moment i start the maps app it starts showing me the message "searching for position" and same message is displayed for an hour or more till i get frustrated n close this app.i have tried using it indoor, outdoors, on streets, my house roof, my friend's house roof(which are quite far away). And i hv also used it with gprs connection and wifi connection(i literally took my router on the roof to make wifi available there).i am pretty sure that there is a s/w problem because when i run google maps, it uses gps function wid out any problems.

Jun 15, 2010I've had my Nokia 5800 for a year now, and recently my camera has just stopped working. I press the camera button on the side and it doesn't load, and even going via menu>applications>camera doesn't work.
However, after pressing the camera button and going via the menu, the green circle shows that camera is open even though it isn't.Sometimes when i turn it off and on again, it will take on photo then stop working.Does anybody know what I can do?

Feb 22, 2010After having this phone for more then half a year, I finally decided to post my complaints, now that my phone really stopped working properly. I'll bullet-point it in chronological order so as to make it clear, because there are too many problems I would like to share with you.
1. After I got the phone( firmware version 21.something), I very very liked it. When I compared it to my friend's 5800 phone (the first firmware version 11.something) though, mine didn't work really fluently. For example, when I press the button on the top of the screen, the bar just appears/disappears as opposed to nicely slides out/in as on my friend's phone. Same when closing/opening windows, mine just appears/disappears as opposed to the nice way it did on the other phone. This is of least of my concerns right now though.
2. Moreover, soon I found out how unstable the whole thing was. The phone kept freezing and crushing whenever I was using the internet or listening to music. I took special care not to install or copy any illegal stuff in it. The application folder took forever to load (all applications from Ovi store) and from time to time I got some really nasty crashes where the screen went black with some red line across it. This slowly led me to believe there was a virus in the phone. After downloading the anti-virus program no virus was detected, though................
Nokia :: 5800 Slide To Answer Not Working
May 20, 2010I bought a nokia 5800d-1 last week. Everything was working fine till last week. Now, whenever I recieve a call, I'm not able to answer the call by sliding the answer option in the screen or unlock by sliding the unlock option. I have to unlock the touch screen by using the unlock button and then all the buttons in my touch screen works and i'm able to answer my call. I went to a nokia care store and updated the firmware to the latest one. But still, the touch screen, as usual reamains frozen whenever I recieve a call.

May 25, 2010I recently updated my nokia 5800 to v5 from v4, after update my radio and Bluetooth has stopped working completely. When I goto Radio it gets hanged instantly only option I have is to click on red button or menu button, but radio app keeps running in back ground. When I tried to turn on my Bluetooth I gets a error message 'Unable to perform Bluetooth Operation'. When I got to Albums and tried to send any music file via Bluetooth I get a message 'Unable to connect'.
