Nokia Nseries :: Add Wifi Function On 5230?
Feb 21, 2010I've a Nokia 5230 since a week. I knew it has no wifi when I bought it. For some use, it would be nice to have wifi function (free hotspot without France per exemple), so I'm looking for solutions on Web. I've found an application "bluetooth-wlan-convert" (!!!) but I can't install it on my 5230 to test it (not compatible). I also have seen a microSD card with wlan function but it seems to work only on Windows CE or Linux based smartphones [URL]. If the price was acceptable, do you think if it could be use on Symbian based phones with an appropriate application ? Do you know other way for having wifi function on phone without wifi ?

Mar 11, 2010I've looked on the forum and cant find anything that relates to this so hoping someone can help/advise. Ive had this phone about a week now and have noticed a few problems:
1. The music player hangs almost every time i use it - have to turn off the phone to get it to work again.
2. The alarm function doesnt seem to work when on charge?
3. There seems to be a lot of lag using the menus and apps on the phone.
Is anyone else having these problems or is it a faulty phone I have?
BB Curve 8520/8530 :: Voice Clarity Almost Phone 4 - 5 Days Back
Jul 8, 2010Being a CDMA user for so many years, I enjoyed nice voice clarity on almost any phone. 4-5 days back I have switched to GSM with 8520. Everything is nice but I'm experiencing very odd problem. I really don't know whether it is my mind playing a trick or it is true.
When talking over the phone, I feel the sound from other end is compressed...muffled... whatever you call it but its not clear as I used to get it on my CDMA network. I have tried enhancing options with boosting treble but not much difference. My ears feel pressurized while talking. I have told my wife to check the clarity but she is ok with it. For CDMA conection I'm using Samsung SCH-S379. Its very basic yet very clear compare to 8520.
I'm running on pre loaded 4.6 OS. My phone is made in Hungery 3 and its January 2010 make. Not yet activated BES/BIS. Does upgrading OS to 5.0 helps in improving earpiece voice clarity ?? do we have any other adjustments ?? is there always a difference in voice clarity in GSM and CDMA ??

Dec 18, 2012My wife and I bought a pair of RAZR M phones three days ago, and right from the beginning, soung quality was pretty poor. It doesn't seem to be a problem calling voicemail, I can hear the machine just fine, but on all voice calls, I sound very muffled, and have a hard time hearing the other person. I tried holding the phone in every conceivable way which made little difference. This is especially bad when my wife and I call each other. I went to the Verizon store (not where I bought it), and they denied there was any problem and sent me away. I am running Android Jellybean (4.1.1). On my old Sprint phone, this was never an issue, but background noise was horrible. With the RAZR M, there is no background noise, but no clarity either.

May 5, 2010i have recorded directions in my daughters voice and uploaded to ovi maps. after that i downloaded and installed. But when u try to search for the voice guided navigation , i do not see that option in my choices in Navigation of driving.I m using Nokia 5230, Ovi maps V 3.04.Please advise. i m all too excited to use voice navigation of my 5 Yrs old Daughter.

Jul 29, 2010I have a the T-Mobile version of the 5230 (the Nuron). I assumed that the notification light would flash after someone left a voice mail. T-Mobile Customer Service claims the Nuron does not do this. Under the Settings-Phone-Notification Lights-Notification Light-Events Notified screen, there are 3 options that can be checked: Missed Call, New Message, New E-Mail. I had hoped "New Message" included voice messages as well as text messages, but I guess not.
This means that I would have to turn on the screen to check for voice mails if I stepped away from my phone. (Note: I do get a flashing notification light for missed calls and texts. However, the missed call flashes stop as soon as the "new voice mail" message appears on the screen.) I've tried a soft reset with no improvement.

Jan 21, 2010Have a new Nokia 5230 the Maps application was working fine and now get this on the PC Ovi. Cannot find maps or voice guidance on your device. This is due to either of the following reasons:Your device does not support the Nokia Maps application. The maps and voice guidance files are corrupted Ok then went to help and deleted the files as advised.
If you see a notification in Nokia Ovi Suite Maps that your device's maps or voice guidance files may have been corrupted, switch the device's USB mode to the mass storage USB mode. Then, from your device's memory card, look for a folder named Cities and a file named qf, and delete them. After that, switch back to the PC Suite USB mode. Refer to the user guide of your device for more detailed information on selecting or changing the USB mode.
Nokia :: 5230 - Voice Command Thing Is Preventing From Listening To Music
Jan 7, 2010I just bought this phone yesterday and I am already unsure if I made the right decision. The phone has only 70 something MB memory, of which 28 or such is taken up b the apps. There only 50+ plus mem left. There aren't any sounds or images preinstalled in this phone (not a single one).
Now this Voice Command thing is preventing me from listening to music. At first, whenever I switched the radio on, it asked me to activate the Voice command feature. Now when I selected it, it keeps on displying "Speak Now" every 4 seconds, interrupting the whole music. I try to speak commands like radio, but it doesn't work.Can someone guide me? I am getting frustrated by this frequent disturbance, everytime I switch on the radio.

May 8, 2010I am using a nokia 5230 with maps 3.03.When i click on my position inside the app it doesn't locate any satellites, the bottom where the bars are there is only one yellow flashing light.When i click a location and select drive to, it just gets stuck on waiting for GPS and the yellow light for satellites keeps blinking and im outside without any cloud cover!.
Also one more thing, i downloaded the male_us voice pack, what folder do i put it in for it to show up? i tried putting it in E:citiesmale_us and in E:citiesdiskcachemale_us and E:citiesdiskcacheviocesmale_us and none of them show up in the options where you slect them.it still prompts me to download them.i don't have a data plan and this phone doesn't support WIFI.
BB Bold :: No Voice Function 9900?
Sep 18, 2012I am a T-mobile subscriber having serious problems with my 9900's voice function for both telephone calls as well as dictating emails and texts with VlingoPlus.The specific problem is that anyone I call or who calls me cannot hear me or they hear a garbled indistinct voice.I have experienced the same problem with two replacement 9900's which T-Mobile sent me (one in July 2012 and the second in September 2012)This problem first arose with the first replacement 9900 I received in July 2012 which replaced a 9900 which was experiencing intermittent ongoing failures of the blackberry internet service connection.The first replacement 9900 then began to have problems with the voice function shortly after I set it up.Although T-mobile's technical people attempted to assist me they failed in their efforts and they simply sent me a second replacement 9900 several days ago.I set up the second replacement 9900 on September 16, 2012 and the voice function failed the same day and has not worked since.I have done battery pulls but the problem persists.Today per T-Mobile's recommendation, I obtained a new SIMM card.There still is no voice function?

Jun 27, 2010I bought a Nokia 6700 slide mobile on the 26th of June, 2010. I had a great liking for this phone before buying it. The 5MP Carl Zeiss optics camera, ALS display and so many other features impressed me. But when I purchased this mobile for my birthday on June 26th, I was very much disappointed with the camera quality. Despite having a 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, the pictures taken by the camera are of very poor clarity. The clarity is similar to a 1.3 MP camera and is worse when pictures are shot in any lighting condition. I had great hopes on this camera after reading so many good reviews from several websites. But, this camera is not on par with my expectations and has failed me. My Nokia 7210 Supernova mobile which I had earlier used to take pictures of excellent clarity.
Are there any adjustments to be made before taking a picture? I've used all modes specified in the Options but to no avail.

Aug 12, 2010I bought a Sony Ericsson Elm on June 28, 2010. Some of the pictures taken by the camera have a red line (and sometimes another blue line can be seen) in the center. Does this depend on the lighting conditions? The line seems to appear whenever the focus is on a dark object and can also been slightly seen in lighter areas. The lines appear continuously while shooting a video. And also, when I was shooting a video the other day, the phone just froze after I stopped recording. I had to remove the battery manually in order to get the phone working. Is there some problem with my mobile or are there any adjustments to be made to make those red lines disappear from pictures?

After that, I was disappointed and shocked because of the camera is not having the clarity is equivalent to the 5 mega pixel. It seems like 1.x. I don't know Do I need to apply any settings or Is this a manufacturing defect?
Already done camera settings as the following.
Camera pixel : 5.0 mp.
Flash light : off
Even though, I'm capturing the photos with worst quality like darkness. I have attached an image which was taken using my mobile with worst quality (i.e. Nokia X2). I had good trust on Nokia branded mobiles.

After rectifying the problem, they told me that the phone had another problem of battery warming. After two days they again informed me that the handset have a network detecting problem. Its been 12 days now they have not been able to rectify the problem, also they are unable to tell me as to when the problem can get rectified. Even more, they dont communicate. When I visit the Nokia care outlet, I am made to wait for more than an hour each time.

In the morning the alarm rings, and I like the snooze function, I snooze several times (5 minutes).However, every now and then, the phone will not ring after a few snoozes, but will remain silent (and I get late).Usually does it after 25 minutes (5 snoozes),I cannot switch the phone on - I have to take out the battery, and put it back.Then it will immediately ring - usually shows the last snooze time, but of course I will have to set the time.It has been to the service, but this problem has remaind, but it is very annoying, usually it is very important not to be late!
