Motorola Xoom :: Random Un-clearable Blank App Notifications
May 31, 2011
This problem only started for me after I installed the 3.1 update, so I don't know what else to blame it on. Every other day, or sometimes immediately after I do app updates I get unclearable app notifications in my bar. They look like notes with a gear on it. If you check it, it shows only the icon for the app it comes from & will open, but no info. if you click on it, all it does is open the app. But then it won't clear like it should. At first I thought it was just a problem with my GTD apps, because I know some like Astrid allow you take make 'hard' notifications, kinda like sticky notes. But even after I uninstalled those, others would have the same problem. Finally, and to make it worse, shutting down & resetting used to clear them, now even that is not working.
This was mentioned in other posts but I can't find it anymore but since the upgrade to 3.1 I am getting random long press pop ups. I initially thought it was better after changing the long press from short to long but it really doesn't seem to have any direct affect on the random ones that are occuring.
My Droid X2 seems to randomly change the tones I have set for contact specific rings, the default ringtone and notifications. I have done 2 factory resets and it keeps doing this. Is it a setting I am messing up or is it something wrong with my phone?
I recently purchased a XFE and have been having multiple issues with apps and the browser randomly shutting down. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this. The battery is not low, I'm not doing the same thing each time, I don't have multiple tabs open (although I have heard this tablet is wonderful at multi tasking). Also at random times I will have an app open and it will pop up with a message about force closing. This has happened way to often for me to continue to tolerate this.
Did I get a bad tablet perhaps? I want to keep this tablet? The rep was at best buy when I was looking at these and convinced me it was the lastest and greatest, however other tablets do not seem to have this issue .
I just got a Xoom and have been getting constant random reboots. I can't repeat exactly what is causing it; it seems to be mostly random - e.g. web browsing, reading a PDF, browsing the market, etc. I've tried to do a factory hard reset twice already, but still get the random rebooting. Sometimes it will do a full reboot where I see the Motorola logo and other times it will sort of do a half-reboot and I only see the boot animation video and not the Motorola logo.
Decided to head off to a little vacation in Mexico City last week for Memorial Day. Nice place, more like NYC than Tijuana, will be going back soon, I'm sure.
Turns out that VZ has coverage (no doubt thru a CDMA Roaming Partner there) in Metro Mexico City. I knew it was expensive as hell ($5.20/MB!) so I had no expectation of really ever using it, but just for grits and shins I turned on 3G to see how well it worked. It was fairly fast, and I ran up a MB just messing around for 10 mins. I guess it would have been OK in an emergency situation, but it's appalling how much the carriers can screw you- I find it hard to believe that VZ is being charged ANYWHERE near $5/MB- and as with many things, the reason they do is "Because They Can".
- I brought my Roku (network-content streaming) Box along, even though I had a feeling the services I use (Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Instant Videos) would be blocked when coming from non-US networks, as indeed they were. But using my Xoom, I was still able to at least watch my Slingbox one night- by hooking up the Hotel's TV to my Xoom via the HDMI connection, then using my Logitech DiNovo Mini combo mouse/keyboard to navigate. I was able to catch some shows on my DVR in Los Angeles, 1700 miles away
So more odd behavior from this possibly defective xoom i got yesterday. After a night of charging, i woke up to find my home screen filled with widgets that I didnt put there.
Experiencing random screen refreshes on a XOOM WiFi? Recently my XOOM has started to blink, the screen will go black for 1/2 second then come back. This happens when doing anything, games, browsing, or just sitting at a home screen. The XOOM is up to date with 4.1.2. I have not done a factory reset yet and would like to avoid it.
I have recently acquired a Xoom Wifi +3G.It has been upgraded to ICS.I have recently downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 from the market. It doesn't work. Ths screen just stays blank. As the ablity to run Flash Player is one of the key differentiators for buying a Xoom rather than an iPad.What is worrying more is the rumours on the internet that Adobe are going to stop development on the ICS version.
I'm noticing (ha) that there is better compatibility with notifications after my LTE upgrade.
Particularly, Sportacular (yahoo sports) now shows the actual score in the alert and the Cardio Trainer status bar alert fully shows the weekly calendar. Since moving to the xoom from a 2.1 android phone, I hadn't seen but blank notifications for these apps...
I'm not sure if this is the benefit of a wipe and reinstall on both the apps and the xoom, or if it's a feature!
Does anyone know of a way to get a list of recent notifications? There has been a few times when I will get rid of a notification, and then want to see what it said. I haven't been able to find an app to do this. I know, don't dismiss them, but some apps dismiss the notification automatically when you look at it.
I have noticed that my wifi Xoom will randomly display either the notification volume or system volume sliders on screen when either the up or down volume buttons are depressed. I can tap the "settings" icon to the right of the slider on either one and both of them display. They also don't display the same way everytime either. Sometimes, system will be on top and notifications on the bottom and vice-a-versa.
Over the past couple of days, my phone (iphone 4) has been random vibrating and/or making various sounds. When this happens, there are no notifications. It will just sound or buzz for what seems to be no reason. Most of the time, my applications are not on. I have push on for my mail application, but that's it. The phone is in good condition, it's never been dropped or damaged in any way.
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
My phone is constantly putting o's into every word, and often just straight up barely types. It also is continuously calling numbers even after I've deleted them from my phone.
I called Bell and they had me wipe my phone and that didn't do anything, so I upgraded the software which also did nothing.
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
I would like to buy the XOOM speaker dock and play music from my XOOM on a daily basis.... I'm worried about having it plugged (and charging) in too much and that I might GREATLY reduce the battery life by charging my XOOM too much.
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me to show .ppt files diretly on the Xoom non-US model? I had an idea it was possible with an app included in US Xooms but not to us outside the USA.
So I'm on my third Atrix. First was within 30 day window with occasional random reboot, it was exchanged. The second was perfect up until the new OTA where I had issues with 4.5.91 installing and it was replaced with an upgraded Atrix with 4.5.91 already installed.he current one is rebooting twice daily and it's getting a little old. My question is where to I go from here? I have to be able to be contacted 24/7 for work, and got my peepee stepped on last time. So I cannot wait for an exchange. Can I reinstall 4.5.91 somehow and start from scratch? I've tried the factory reset and every combination of installing and uninstalling various apps I have. Even went a few days with not restoring any apps! I'm really thinking this may be software related, but could be wrong!
Today..6...6 random reboots out of no where.I bought device when it first came out and battery life has been issue..but recently, just this week, with ZERO additional apps downloaded, its rebooted on me as listed.
I am having a problem with the phone randomly generating key selections. When I unlock the phone, the phone wil start vibrating at apparently randm intervals as if one of the 4 key selections on the bottom of the phone has been selected. When I am in an app, or trying to use the settings, etc. these selections block the use of the phone and in effect lock/freeze the phone. I have the following apps downloaded:The google maps (Sprint pre-installed link)The Sprint Football App (Sprint pre-installed link)Solitaire - from the android free apos market.USBank app from a USBank provided link.he problem manifested itself prior to the installation of the USBank App. When I am running the solitaire app, the search key, which is set to turn the next card is selected as is the return/back key. I can watch the cards change in response to the vibration activity. Also, when I am on a screen where the Search key is enabled as a search key, the search screen will randomly come up. While these keys are being selected, the phone essentially freezes. The reception of a call seems to break through this and it proceeds normally.
It appears yet another Motorola phone is suffering from random rebooting. Has anyone else had trouble with this? I notice it more when there is low/no network coverage (Thanks Sprint). It happened to me three times yesterday alone. I was in Wilmington, NC. There is very little Sprint 3G coverage out there. My battery was near full,
I am having problems with random and frequent disconnects with the Atrix 4G when on Bluetooth while connected in a car. Initially my setup was using a Motorola Roadster and while playing audio I would randomly not get sound, then shortly after I would get the message that the phone was no longer connected to the Roadster.Usually it would eventually reconnect, sometimes almost immediately after. This would happen sometimes as often as every few minutes, while other times it could play a half hour or more before encountering the problem.
Initially I was unsure whether it was the Atrix itself or the Roadster, but after having recently purchased a Ford F-150 with SYNC bluetooth connect, I am encountering the exact same behavior with random disconnects. Unfortunately with the Ford SYNC, I never get it to automatically reconnect, and I must go into the phone, turn bluetooth off and back on, then manually reconnect from the phone. Most of the time I have the Atrix connected through the Motorola Car Dock, but I think the same behavior has occurred out of the dock.I have never noticed this same behavior with other bluetooth devices I have - Jawbone Icon, Monster iClarity speaker. I don't know if I have enough data to tell definitively or not, but I think I have only observed this when the auto was in motion.
Moto Droid Ver 2.2.2. Starting yesterday, I am getting frequent, ramndom re-boots. I say random because they occur if it is the dock, on a table, idle or not idle, middle of a call, etc. I have not down loaded anything from the market in at least a week. It has never done this in the 18 months I have had it.
The only issue I have had on my Droid 3, to this point, as been the terrible battery I have experienced, even having bought an extended battery. It's good to hear that there will hopefully be a fix for this soon.
I am wondering if anyone else has been having their Droid 3 reboot randomly for no reason at all? I have never had this issue, but for the last 3 days, it's been happening over and over. It happened 3 times yesterday, 2 the day before, and now the second time today.
I don't know if this was even an issue for anyone since this device has apparently had more issues than most, and I've been spared from the majority of them.
I happened twice for me so it is not very common situation but in result I am loosing my data. Basically when ending my workout it is converted to multisport by adding empty workout. My original is called Part 1 and new one is called Part 2. Upload fails and website claims that my workouts have no data. I can still see them in recent workouts but I am not sure is it is just a summary or data is still there. Is there any way to fix this workouts (e.g. removing empty one?).
their battery full to only discover the battery is near dead moments later... "The attery is not really dead but rather the phone is just not recognizing it", etc.., etc...,...The hardware problem that I believe is the root cause of all or most of these issues is the battery connection to the phone... People have taken their phones back for another one only to have the same issues with the new one... They have factory reset them, deleted apps, downloaded the update thinking it would fix these issues... I bought my phone 09/03/11 and within an hour of purchase it random rebooted and later that evening completely shutdown requiring a battery pull to reboot... The next day it shutdown 3 times requiring a battery pull... Usually when I just sat the phone down face up.. I believe the battery is separating enough from the contacts when in certain positions to cause these disorders... My phone never did this while recharging because it had a steady power source... That along with those who were experiencing full charge to low charge moments later led me to this conclusion... Happy to report I have for my phone at least eliminated the problem.\
THE FIX: Simply snap in your battery with the phone face down making sure its snug... Simply apply a strip of electrical tape next to the kick stand where the contacts are located... The tape should extend about a 1/4 inch either side of the battery... This secures the battery from moving in the contact area... The Micro SD a Sim card slots are at the other end of the battery and are still accessible... This back cover is not really effected and in fact it only makes it more snug... This fix has completely eliminated reboot & shutdown problems on my phone... Until Motorola factory fixes this issue, this is the best next thing... My EVO had tape all over under the hood and if you do it right it looks factory
