My Droid X2 seems to randomly change the tones I have set for contact specific rings, the default ringtone and notifications. I have done 2 factory resets and it keeps doing this. Is it a setting I am messing up or is it something wrong with my phone?

I have noticed when I talk to people, I hear a random 'touch tone' like sound very intermittently.This happens if I make or receive a call and is not just when I talk to other Verizon customers.My home phone used to do this (VoIP) at times. Same sound but now its on the Razr.I never heard this calling the same people when I was on Sprint.

Whenever I un-mount my Droid 3 from my Mac Powerbook G4 all preset ringtones & notifications are reset to random ringtones/songs/notifications. I have to manually reset all my ringtones and notifications back to the sounds I want. It seems when the SD-cards are mounted in Mass Storage Mode, the info on the SD-cards is no longer available to the phone so it reassigns the ringtones and notifications. Once the SD-cards are re-mounted on phone the pre-set ringtones and notifications are no longer set. Unless there is a fix, I am looking to maybe root the phone and copy all my ringtones and notification tones to the system's media folder so they are permanently available to the phone.

Its the weirdest thing on min her phone will show all of her contacts when she goes to check her text. In a matter of less than 5 mins the names will disappear and it will just show numbers. She puts the phone down and picks it back up later and its magic her contact names will show up with the messages. At no time do the contact names disappear from her actual address book tho.

When I hook up the phone through USB to organize or add/delete files using a computer, the next morning my alarm clock has defaulted to an on-phone ringtone. I was used to my sounds being different while I have the SD card actively unmounted, but the settings were always maintained when I returned.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis problem only started for me after I installed the 3.1 update, so I don't know what else to blame it on. Every other day, or sometimes immediately after I do app updates I get unclearable app notifications in my bar. They look like notes with a gear on it. If you check it, it shows only the icon for the app it comes from & will open, but no info. if you click on it, all it does is open the app. But then it won't clear like it should. At first I thought it was just a problem with my GTD apps, because I know some like Astrid allow you take make 'hard' notifications, kinda like sticky notes. But even after I uninstalled those, others would have the same problem. Finally, and to make it worse, shutting down & resetting used to clear them, now even that is not working.

I had to rebuild my media library to get rid of some "ghost " image thumbnails in the gallery. I deleted all data associated with Media Storage and rebooted.
This totally hosed up my Ring/Notification tones. Why should a rebuild of the media library make a difference?
What could be the reason that the Tones library of iTunes does not sync with the iPhone even when Sync All Tones is checked?

I am wondering if anyone else has been having their Droid 3 reboot randomly for no reason at all? I have never had this issue, but for the last 3 days, it's been happening over and over. It happened 3 times yesterday, 2 the day before, and now the second time today.
I don't know if this was even an issue for anyone since this device has apparently had more issues than most, and I've been spared from the majority of them.
I'm experiencing an issue with seemingly random changes to my nofications and ringtone settings. The email or event nofication is set to one of the stock audio files but gets altered to an audio book chapter or music file on my SD card. It's really weird to wake up to a voice reading chapter 14 of a book to me at 2:47 in the morning or to hear one of my music files suddenly start playing out of the blue. And my ringtone seems to bounce around from the one I've selected to one of the music files.
