PDF and DOC attachments are no longer opening on my xoom (wi-fi only). It used to ask what program I wanted to use to open the attachment. Now the screen goes slightly gray and the attachment does not open in any program.
View 7 Repliesgot the 3.2 update for my 3g Xoom. And now when using my exchange account I can no longer view attachments from email. I have to save the file to the device and view with the aid of a file reader. It worked flawlessly before but now seem broken.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBusiness emails that usually show text in the message, don't show up on the Droid's email program. Instead, they show up with a blank message body and an htm doc attachment that can only be opened by downloading it and going into the messaging folder to open. If you try to open through the email they just pull up the Google browser which does not read the file. Is there an alternative email program or web browser that will allow either the message to appear in the email body (like it does on iPhones I have tried) or a browser that can read an htm file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to download, view or save zip attachments. I cannot do it in gmail or the stock email app using a pop account. There is no view, preview, download, or save button. There is only an "info" button in both the gmail and stock email apps. When I select "Info" it says this file cannot be downloaded or saved.
I have tried several different file managers including ES, Astro, AndroZip and All Downloads but still get the same result. All other attachments work fine
I have a Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi and if I receive an email with a link or a pdf attachment, if I click on the link the screen dims and nothing happens. Same thing if I click view to look at a pdf attachment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently, I have been unable to open files or access links on my Xoom. For example, when I go into my downloads and touch the screen to open (say) a PDF file, the screen goes dull and then returns to normal brightness and my file doesn't open. If I go into Documents to Go and open the PDF file it seems to work OK however?Same thing is happening with video files, for example I touch a video file to open it in VPlayer and, again, the screen goes dull and I can't access the video. Same with music whcih I can only access through the music player, not through other routes such as Astro file manager etc. Also when I try to open some links to websites embedded in emails etc the screen goes dull and then bright again and the links don't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been able to read email attachments before (.pdf, word, .xls) but for some reason,I can no longer receive them. There is an attachment which cannot be opened which is a winmail. dat file.To my knowledge, I have not done anything to stop the attachments opening!I upgraded to Version 5 of the software in the hope that this would resolve the problem, but it did not. I can however open .jpg files.I synchronise with Outlook which is still working normally and I can see the attachments OK in Outlook.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to OS 6 on my Bold 9700. I'm on BIS. I have 4 email addresses on my BB - 1 gmail, 1 googlemail, and 2 POP from the same domain. I can open attachments (have docs to go and attachment service) on all but one of the pop addresses (''this attachment type cannot be viewed on your device'). have resent service books, registered HRT (?) and double checked I have both docs to go and attachment service. I know it can do it because it does it for the other three..am I missing a simple setting somewhere. Oh, and I've tried quite a few battery re-boots.....

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave got 2 broadband dongles (Vodafone and 3) and used both SIMs in the XOOM and they worked fine (after the obligatory reboot). However they no longer work and try as I might i can't get them to work.
If it helps when there is no SIM in the tablet I don't get the No SIM present on the home page screen.
I have tried everything even a factory reset but nothing. don't make me buy an iPad - i couldn't stand it!
Other symptons are that the battery life seems to be much shorter now but this could be an illusion.
Not sure why but all my calendar info and appointments are no longer showing.. It won't sync with my iPhone any longer.. Was working fine.. Have checked all the settings, it is still set to sync.. I have went in and stopped the calendar app and restarted, still not syncing.. I have tried everything short of a soft Xoom reboot..Have shut down and rebooted both, still won't sync.. The loss of this function is not acceptable..

Facebook recently made some changes to its application and it won't show up any longer on the Honeycomb market. If you have it on there already it should work.
But I suggest you given FriendMe a try. It's a very nice Facebook app that takes advantage of some Honeycomb capabilites. I use it over the regular Facebook app (mine still works) despite a few bugs.
Verizon Xoom 3.2 Watching a movie that I transferred to the Xoom from my computer like I've been doing for months now (even after the 3.2 update). Paused it to take care of some things. Come back in about 20 minutes and the Xoom is locked up. Had to do a volume up/power button to restart it.After restarting, movies won't play. Neither will video taken with the Xoom. When I go into Gallery and touch a video, the screen sort of dims but nothing else happens. Normally when I select a movie, I get a choice of stock player or RockPlayer.If I open RockPlayer from my Apps, I can play the movie.I did an additional power down/power up but still video will not work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedStill seems to require the phone fields even though I don't have a Moto phone (just a Wifi Xoom). Also, the serial number selection is not clear since 3G users seem to use the MEID, but I've been asked for my Wifi MAC address before. This time I tried to simply enter my "serial number" as stated in the Xoom status screen. But I can't get past #1 issue above, it is trying to require me to enter a Moto phone as well.

Today, all of my bookmarks on my FE disappeared, and the browser refuses to sync to my Google account. I've logged into Chrome and all of my bookmarks are intact. Also, running stock 3.1 not rooted, no tomfoolery has been had with this device.

The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open.The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot save attachments to the phone or to my external SD card, which is not encrypted. I have no Exchange 2010 security policies blocking attachments. ICS is not set to encrypt anything. I use NitroDesk TouchDown, which also has no saving restrictions or encryption set.I go through the process of Save, or Save All, and try to save, or create a new folder in which to save, and then click to save the file. I can see the new folder I created, but there is never a file saved. Rebooting does not make it show, nor does dismounting and remounting the SD card.Probably related to the above problem, if I have an email in TD with an attachment, for example a DOCX file, I can open it in Documents to Go, but if I do a Save As from there, it will not let me save it anywhere. If I use Docs to Go and create a new Word doc, I can save it anywhere I choose, so it is as though TD will not let me manipulate my attachments.

But if I'm in email and want to add an attachment, if I select Gallery it only shows me the pics on my phone - no option to select Motocast files. Is that the way it's supposed to be or do I need to change something. It sure would be nice to access those files for attachments.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPerhaps I'm not doing things correctly, but I've noticed that when I receive a calendar invitation which contains attached documents from my work Exchange account, I can't retrieve the attachments except under specific circumstances.
When I receive an invitation and it is still in my email inbox, there is a link to the attachment. If I click it then before looking at the event details, I can view and save the attachment (I have automatic download of attachments turned off - I need to turn it on and see what happens). In the above case, If I go to view the event in my calendar first and accept the invitation, the item is removed from my inbox and any attachments are no longer accessible. In all cases, events in my calendar with attached documents do not show any attached documents. I've not found a way to get access to attachments that I know are in Calendar entries from work.
Is this pilot error or a "feature" of the email and calendar client apps?
